I recently was trying some different methods to transfer files from my desktop to my laptop, and I started up Windows Easy Share. I realized it wasn't what I wanted about halfway through and quit out, but since then my E:\ partition (personal files) has something similar to the shortcut overlay that simply will not go away. It's an icon with two of those windows styled people with the crewcuts and green shirts my guess is that is how it got there, as it was not there prior.I have also tried using the How To Geek recommended program for icon switches of drives on Windows 7 to no avail.
I just started having an issue on a clean install of Windows 7 SP1 build 7601.The icons for the W & Z partitions is suddenly showing as a broken link.I have tried right clicking on each partition > properties > customize > restore default folder picture and there is no change for either to update the icon.
under XP, I had my own .reg file and an icon library, so that the drives of the card reader would have nice icons in the explorer. However, adding the info and copying the file does not do the trick in Windows 7... has something changed? What can I do to get my own icons back?
If your not going to use a Floppy Drive in your Computer you can disable it and ger rid of the Floppy Drive icon that sits in my computer.
Right click on my computer and select properties. In the hardware tab select 'Device Manager'. In the device manager there should be an expandable menu labelled 'Floppy disk controllers', expand this and you should see something like 'Standard floppy disk controller' right click on this and click disable. If at some time you do need to use a Floppy Drive you can re-able it.
i have a flash drive on my Windows 7 computer. Can any tell me specifically how to add an icon or program to this flash drive and how to delete an icon? Also, how would I delete all the icons at once?

Is it possible to have the Drive icon DIRECTLY on the taskbar instead of pinned to the Explorer icon? I am actually having trouble filling my taskbar and I would like to be able to use all three drive icons. I would also like to be able to put folders directly on the taskbar, too.
Windows 7 Home Premium Under Windows Explorer 'Computer' all of the my drives and storage devices are listed. I am trying to change the icon associated with my esata external hard drive.
The icon for my USB External Hard Drive (labeled as USBEXT) is messed up. In the Send To context menu, as well as in the Computer folder, and the sidebar of Windows Explorer, it shows up as if the proper icon is missing?
Anyone know of a possible solution? Just the default drive icon next to the label would be nice but I'm also wondering how I could customize all of the icons in Windows 7 for hard drives, folders, music files, etc. I remember there were programs that did such things in previous versions of Windows and didn't know which of them, if any, would work with Windows 7 (Build 7077).
In a (successful) attempt to correct WGA registration problem I did a Windows Repair.
I used Windows Backup and saved it to my external hard drive. Now I have almost identical files and folders there and on the now visible Recovery drive. TBUH, when making the backup several options appeared and I checked one without being 110% sure it was right.
Did possibly I do something not right? What need I do to correct anything wrong, including which folders and files I may safely delete? What advice do I need for future?
I have a network storage drive that has seen its last day but I still have the icon under my computer when I try to disconnect from it it tells me the drive does not exist.
On the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.
Whenever I single left click on an icon, file, or folder a repetitive popup appears asking if I want to send whatever I clicked on to the recycle bin. The item is sent to the recycle bin regardless.
On my desktop and quick start bar the icon for MS Word is only showing a generic picture. The shortcut is working. All the rest of the MS Office shortcuts have the right icon pictures.I'm running Win 7 Home edition and MS office 2010.
someone clicked on my bluetooth icon by mistake and it has disappeared from the taskbar area. It is still in the add and remove programs area but there is not option to repair.I use it regularly to upload my pictures from my phone so am desperate to have it back. I have a Dell Inspiron notebook and am using windows 7.
