My uncle's windows xp computer have CD drive but not DVD. I have backed up windows 7 files onto my computer. Anyway I can burn the files onto CDs? I want to put the CDs into my uncle's computer and be able to install windows 7.I able to copy all the files onto his windows xp computer and install windows 7 from the desktop?
View 10 RepliesJust purchased my first Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) PC (Hewlett Packard). No media was supplied with the machine and I have been advised that media is not shipped anymore (apparantley it is Microsoft's way of ensuring media cannot be loaded onto several systems).
Reading comments on the internet it seems clear that I have to make an ISO file, but I'm unsure what directory/files I need to pick and copy.

The tutorial for creating the bootable XP disc worked great and I would like to have a backup with SP1 on it for my Win7 Home Premium x64 (retail version). I didn't see anything in the Win 7 tutorials, maybe it can't be done with 7, but if it can I would do it so I have the cd with SP1 on it already.
Does anyone know the method how to create windonw7 WinPE bootable CD? I once create XP with PEbuilder, but it cannot create Windows 7 WinPE CD, I heard that it requires AIK?

The problem is that my machine doesn't boot from the USB drive. Anyway, I've tried with a 32 bit version of Windows 7 on my USB drive. This works well, but not with a 64 bit version. Why it doesn't work? Just to be on the safe side, I've tested it several times with other USB drives and followd thoroughly the instructions(diskpart).

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy main pc got a new motherboard and requires a fresh install of windows 7. Ok, I have the windows 7 iso and I have the motherboard installed into my computer. I put the ISO on my flash drive but when I booted from the flash drive I got "Reboot and select a proper boot device or insert media in selected device and press a button." After 2 days and countless hours searching I can not get this to work. The computer I am on right now is a Windows XP 32x laptop. Is it even possible for me to make a usb drive loaded with windows 7 ultimate 64x for another computer? With every step by step guide I found on how to do this they either said to use the Windows 7 usb dvd download tool (which is what I have been using since the beginning to no avail) or do it manually. To do it manually involves the Diskpart feature of the command prompt, which on xp, doesnt detect flash drives. So...I cant do it manually.tell me if I have to reinstall my old motherboard (heatsink installation is a pain which is why I dread installing motherboards) and then upon reinstalling old motherboard do I have to set up my flash drive (again) and hope I didnt mess up just to rip the motherboard back out and put the new new one back in and hope the usb boots this time?

I have created a partition/extended. The system, even with boot-disks, SEEMS not to allow it!Is there good info. technical or otherwise that will let me.

2. I have a boot manager, so not a problem.

View 1 Replies View Relatedit started about a few months ago, when my computer wouldn't let me play games or Internet videos one day suddenly, the screen would turn green and it would say a "graphic driver failed and has now been recovered" i updated the drivers and it fixed it for ages up until yesterday. i moved my computer onto a new desk and suddenly it started going weird again, it was failing to start up, crashing 2/3 times when it was on the windows logo, then crashing and emitting a annoying buzzing noise, which i fixed by updating the system and graphic drivers again, but now it's gone back to doing the "graphic driver failed and has now been recovered" error, stopping the video and or window that i'm using like msn or skype for instance. also sometimes the screen will just go a bright white and it has to be reset because you cannot see anything else on the monitor. tried with different monitor still same issues.

I have a new Toshiba with Windows 7....I noticed that when I move my mouse (laptop), that the cursor either turns into a 4 way arrow and any movement changes the size of everything or else there is a small "bar" for horizontal or verticle movement that shows up..I can barely move the mouse...extremely irritating...any way to disable this?

Currently its running on an old 160GB IDE (i know....) and I want to migrate the install to a pair of 500GB WD SATA2 drives.I know how to mirror the disks, but I need to find a way to migrate without a re-install. It's a long time since I did anything like this on windows (It's so easy on other OSs).I'd like to partition the new disk (say, 40GB) and migrate the current system to that. Then add the second disk and mirror it, create the second partition etc. So...what are the recommended ways to migrate a system to a new disk?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've been using my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit install on my Sony AR670 laptop for a couple months straight now with no real issues but this one that started last week with no apparent cause and is getting very annoying.The system 'hangs' or 'freezes' in a way when I do certain things like create a new file/folder or select a file from a 'browse' file box, especially say when I upload a file to a forum, like this one, using the "Manage Attachments" option... I use Chrome but this happens even in Windows so I'm sure it's not Chrome related... it has something to do with file access is my guess.During the 'hang' I can still move the mouse and scroll windows but I can't press buttons, open menus, or issue any 'commands' if I do I get the windows 'alert' sound and nothing happens. The length of time of the 'hang' varies from a couple seconds to maybe 15 seconds or so when really bad.Because it's so hard to describe exactly I haven't had much luck searching for a similar problem.It also happens when renaming or moving files... The file will seem to revert back to its original name for a few seconds during which time I can't really do anything. If I try to rename it or move it again I get a message the file no longer exists then it will change to the name I gave it the first time.

The first thing I would like to know is, I created a bootable (tested and used) Windows 7 64bit Enterprise USB flash drive. I would like to make this universal so when a new machine comes in I can either add new drivers if need and install from the USB.
Currently I have to install the drivers after the installation of windows has completed. Which folder in can I add the drivers into? I am thinking of creating sub folders for each model and another subfolder for the type of driver ie. video, nic etc I also created an autounattended.xml file and it always halts at the create partition wizard. If I manually install windows, windows 7 will create a second partition that is 100mb. I read in forums where most people only create 1 partition. Does it matter how many my autounattened file will create?
After installing windows 7, I have had a heck of a time trying to figure out what is wrong or if I got a bad ISO or what. Whenever I restart without a bootable cd or dvd in the drive, it gives me "invalid system disk, replace the disk, and then press any key" Now i pop in the windows 7 disk, control alt delete, and when it restarts it loads windows up just fine. Tried switching the primary boot as the hard disk and not the dvd player and still get this error. Had my mobo drivers disk in and its bootable and it booted windows 7 right up. Is something messed with the boot manager or is it just a bad ISO?
