Nov 26, 2012I have a 2 yr old HP Laptop that Came with Win 7 Home Premium.I have looked everywhere for bootable ISO disks, but they didn't work.the main problem is that I want to use Delphi 2.0 and other stuff that won't install on Win 7. I have created a partition/extended. The system, even with boot-disks, SEEMS not to allow it!Is there good info. technical or otherwise that will let me.
1. Install my old Win ME on a seperate partition?
2. I have a boot manager, so not a problem.
3. If I install ME, will it overwrite Win7, and can this be avoided?

Sep 26, 2012it started about a few months ago, when my computer wouldn't let me play games or Internet videos one day suddenly, the screen would turn green and it would say a "graphic driver failed and has now been recovered" i updated the drivers and it fixed it for ages up until yesterday. i moved my computer onto a new desk and suddenly it started going weird again, it was failing to start up, crashing 2/3 times when it was on the windows logo, then crashing and emitting a annoying buzzing noise, which i fixed by updating the system and graphic drivers again, but now it's gone back to doing the "graphic driver failed and has now been recovered" error, stopping the video and or window that i'm using like msn or skype for instance. also sometimes the screen will just go a bright white and it has to be reset because you cannot see anything else on the monitor. tried with different monitor still same issues.

Jul 17, 2010So I've been using my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit install on my Sony AR670 laptop for a couple months straight now with no real issues but this one that started last week with no apparent cause and is getting very annoying.The system 'hangs' or 'freezes' in a way when I do certain things like create a new file/folder or select a file from a 'browse' file box, especially say when I upload a file to a forum, like this one, using the "Manage Attachments" option... I use Chrome but this happens even in Windows so I'm sure it's not Chrome related... it has something to do with file access is my guess.During the 'hang' I can still move the mouse and scroll windows but I can't press buttons, open menus, or issue any 'commands' if I do I get the windows 'alert' sound and nothing happens. The length of time of the 'hang' varies from a couple seconds to maybe 15 seconds or so when really bad.Because it's so hard to describe exactly I haven't had much luck searching for a similar problem.It also happens when renaming or moving files... The file will seem to revert back to its original name for a few seconds during which time I can't really do anything. If I try to rename it or move it again I get a message the file no longer exists then it will change to the name I gave it the first time.

Jan 27, 2011I've stumbled upon a bit of a strange problem with my mouse. When I run a game of some sort my mouse starts to lag after a while, there is no lag in the rendering of the graphics just the movement of my mouse or mouse pointer.This can also occur randomly while just operating in windows without running any game 3D or non-3D, but if I unplug my USB mouse and plug it back in it starts working like normal. I have updated/re-installed the drivers for the mouse, also tried running without the special drivers for my mouse installed thus getting another aero related problem. But it works best with the drivers for the Razer Lachesis installed but as I mentioned before it the pointer starts lagging and if I just unplug and plug it back in it starts working so question is does anyone know what could cause this?

Jan 5, 2012I have a new Win 7 set-up, and while I'm currently using my older (yet still great) CRT monitor, I just bought a nice LCD monitor, so I'll have two.I game often, but it'd be great if I could have the game up on one full screen (not sure if it's possible to do this or it must be played in a window) and an application on the other.I understand that I would have to alt-tab to transfer between the two, which is fine, but what I think would be most useful would be to, say, have the keyboard commands for the game (from a text file, .pdf, picture, etc.) on the second monitor, while I play the game on the first. Other good examples would be to have a map of the game (again, a picture found online, not a map from the game itself, to be clear) or spreadsheet of stats up on the second screen that I could reference during play.I ask because my understanding is that there are three modes for using dual monitors in Windows 7. One allows you to run both as one big desktop. The other mirrors the screen, so you have the exact same desktop duplicated. The final has one off and the other on.
This makes it sound as if the only option is to have the game run in a window on one screen and then open the application, picture, whatever sized to the other. What I was hoping for was to have the game fill the entirety of one monitor and have the desktop confined to just the other, and alt-tab between the two.

BSOD Mostly When Playing A Game?
Nov 23, 2011Often, when I start up a game, it decides to crash my whole system resulting in a blue screen. Do note, however, that it has also crashed when not in a game, but only once or twice.My first thought was the ram, as it was and is giving a lot of memory errors, so I ran memtest for over 10 hours with no failures. My next thought was the CPU, so I ran prime 95 on blend and small ftt tests for over 8 hours which also proved to be stable. Next was the HDD, and I did everything from examining the SMART info to a long generic test. GPU was my last hope, but Furmark doesn't phase the card, and I even ran MemtestG80 which supposedly tests the GPUs memory as well. I do realize these tests are not the end all, and there could be a problem with any one of them that the tests didn't find. I have also reinstalled Windows Something curious happened when I ran memtest the other day. I had one stick in and left the room for a few minutes, only to come back to 7k+ errors. This was it I thought, I finally found out what was causing it. I wanted to test it again to make sure it wasn't a bug in the software, but it ran for 8 hours with no errors. So I'm lead to believe it's the ram, motherboard, memory cache, or psu. I am leaning away from the psu based on the fact that I get lucky and am able to play Skyrim on Ultra with no issue.I have attached several recent minidumps for anyone who is able to understand such things.

It started with the screen flipping back to desktop, as though ALT TAB had been pressed, no error messages,i just clicked the MTW2 icon on the side bar and returned to the game.Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying. Power cable from wall socket to PSU blew, never had this before, simply replaced it. It was about 5 years old.
