Auto-start Of Windows 7 Not Happening?
May 16, 2012On boot the DOS lookalike screen stops and waits for me to allow 'Recovered Win 7 Ultimate screen. It will boot from there but I have to waut 30 seconds.How do I reconfigure so it boots directly into Windows 7?

I'm told that several people have written fixes for it, but that Microsoft keeps unfixing the fixes...

Feb 3, 2013Every time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.

Dec 15, 2012The Auto repair was useless, and to make matters worst, I started getting the evil blue screen. After a week of headaches, I decided it wasn't worth it. So, I used safe mode to save all our pictures and my books on a flashdrive(nothing else, just so it whatever was hurting the comp wouldn't come back on). Then I decided to recover the comp so I could rid it of whatever was causing the awful blue screen. It fixed it, until recently. Now understand, I didn't put anything back on the comp(not even the stuff I saved to my flashdrive) since it irritated me so much before, so I know I didn't do anything to cause this. See, now the comp won't start up at all without the Auto Repair coming on. Even when I get the option to start up windows normally and bypass the auto repair, I still end up back on the auto repair. I'm totally lost on what to do.

Jul 1, 2012When I start up my computer, my Steam starts up, then I manually start Chrome. Chrome comes up fine, Steam does too, but when I try to right click on Steam and click friends, all it does is create another steam process running at 100-108 K. Then if I close Chrome and try to reopen it, it will do the same. This happens with EVERY program after I start up. There's a 5 second window where I can open programs without issue, then after that it will only start 108 K copies of them. It takes me around 30 restarts just to get it working properly, if not more.

When I went in there and looked gupdate was no started at either time. The first time 9:35:58am was when this whole mess started. I just happened to go back an hour later to look in Event Viewer and it was listed again and still not started with the same explanation.Would this have caused this freeze or crash and is there anything that can be done to rectify this deal? I know some people disable gupdate and everything to do with it but I do not want to get into this.

They don't start automatically in auto-play to load, and my reading of the file labels in the CD makes no sense to me.

Auto-Right Click In Search Bar When Open Start Menu
Jan 13, 2012I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit. For other system specs I have added them to my profile.
When I open the start menu whether it be with the windows key or mouse click a right click menu pops up and appears to be right clicked inside the search bar, I tested this by copying some text and clicking paste on the auto right click menu.
It stays there until I click something but will come back within 1 second or until I stop holding the mouse button.
WLAN Auto-config Service Doesn't Start, Error 1067
Feb 2, 2013WLAN AutoConfig service gives error 1067 when trying to start it. What I've tried:
Reset winsock settings
Ran SFC /scannow
Did system restore
Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers
I tried all of these in normal mode AND in safe mode. None of it worked. Then i thought the service dll (C:Windowssystem32wlansvc.dll) itself might have been damaged/outdated, so I decided to delete it and put a new one from donor pc. NOPE.It wouldn't give me access to the file. No matter what i tried, safe mode, unlocker tools, auto rename it on startup, doing everything in administrator or even messing with permissions under file properties. It just wouldn't give me access to the file.Wi-Fi was working smoothly few days ago and i literally have no idea why it stopped working.

Windows Event Log Causing "win403700" To Auto-start At Boot?
Aug 28, 2011I'm having a peculiar problem that just started yesterday out of the blue. Suddenly when I boot up in Windows 7 (64-bit), there's always an open dat file titled "win403700" that greets me on my desktop. It's of no use to me, since it's filled with lines and lines of code that are completely encrypted in notepad.After running CCleaner to clean out my registry and hard drive, followed by over two hours of sytematically uninstalling programs, disabling startup items, and then finally moving on to msconfig items under the services tab, I was able to determine that "Windows Event Log" is what causes this to pop open with each new startup. (I assume everyone has it enabled under msconfig > services.)Would anyone know why it is doing this? If I can just disable it and forget about it I will, but based on what I'm reading here, it appears to be an essential process for updating Windows: Windows Event Log - Process and Service wiki?

Sep 5, 2011I have the problem that the service WLAN Auto-Config isn't started. When I try to start the service manual then the error 1068 appear: "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." I have tried the three steps of onopko, but this is not working to my computer. On advice of StalkeR I have add the reg files of Black Viper site as Safe as well default. Every time I have restarted my computer after adding the reg files, but both files are resolving me problem.

Sep 15, 2011I want to be able to restart Windows, by choice, either without startup programs running, or with startup programs running. The reason is that I have an old (~2001) Palm m105 PDA handheld that updates using Palm HotSync Manager via a USB/serial port cradle (Serial Port 6). It works very well and I don't have a need to replace it with something more up to date, but the problem is, when I try to run the hotsync while other programs are running, I get a Windows BSOD at some point before the hotsync finishes, I have to reboot every time, and the hotsync never finishes. However, I find that if I shut down almost every optional running program before running the hotsync, then I can run the hotsync to completion without the BSOD happening. As a workaround, to simplify things, I figure that when I'm ready to run the hotsync, if I reboot Windows to a state where no applications are running, I can run the hotsync and then reboot Windows back to its normal startup state, with all the normal startup programs running. This all seems very labor and time intensive regardless of how I do it.One way I thought of doing this more cleanly (though probably not saving any time) is to create another user account, with no startup programs, and run the hotsync from there, and switch between the two.

Nov 6, 2011I just formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows 7, everything went smooth and I updated everything with windows update. After it installed service pack 1 I couldnt start most programs that I have installed for example winamp, vlc and utorrent and thats all I have realised so far. If I just simply double click on one of those programs I get a process that is always 120k no matter which program and it will keep allowing you to click just making even more of these processes. I can get these programs to start if I run as administrator but when they start explorer crashes, I have tried searching the web but no-one else seems to have quite the same problem and I wouldnt have a clue as to what I could do to stop it.

Aug 22, 2010This problem started about a month ago with Windows Live Messenger. Since then i had no problems until last week when my game recording program WeGame began to crash when i start it up. Now today one of my favourite games Counter Strike : Source has started having the same problem.When starting Windows Live Messenger i am given the Windows Live Messenger has stopped working.. then it closes.When starting WeGame it usually crashes when i log in, with the same error.When i start Counter Strike : Source it says Hl2.exe has stopped working and needs to close.I have tried running as an administrator, in compatablility mode, restarting computer, reinstalling all 3 programs, using CCleaner and Windows Cleaner, closing other applications, disabling antivirus, scanning for viruses and many other things.

Nov 20, 2010The only executable program I can run is Internet Explorer 64-bit. All other programs do not open when I click them - either the shortcut or the icon in the folder.This includes all Microsoft Office programs, AntiVirus programs, Firefox, etc. When I click the program, the timing circle comes up next to the cursor for a couple seconds, then disappears. I've tried looking at task manager when I click the program. For many programs (not all), the task process shows up in "Processes" tab for a second, then disappears. The program never shows up under tasks in the "Applications" tab of Task Manager.For some programs (mostly MS Office) I get a prompt "There was a problem sending the command to the program". Windows/Programs I can open: Windows Explorer (for My Compter, My Documents, etc.), 64-bit IE, Wordpad.
Methods I've already tried:
1. Restart, both cold Windows restart, and restart in Safe Mode with Networking.
1. Removing all startup items using msconfig window. Even when all were removed, I can't open any programs.
3. Using Cntl-Alt-Delete to correct windows file associations. typed in "assoc .exe=exefile.

This problem started after I tried to remove an Antivirus2010 bug. I followed the instructions found here and then tried Adaware to remove any additional spyware. My thought is I screwed something up when replacing the HOSTS file, or I removed something I shouldn't have using the AdAware anti-spyware program.

I cannot load most of my programs from either icons or start menu, I am only able to get on the internet with IE 64 bit loaded from the start menu.I haven't downloaded or made any changes.
