View 0 RepliesJust purchased my first Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) PC (Hewlett Packard). No media was supplied with the machine and I have been advised that media is not shipped anymore (apparantley it is Microsoft's way of ensuring media cannot be loaded onto several systems).
Reading comments on the internet it seems clear that I have to make an ISO file, but I'm unsure what directory/files I need to pick and copy.

The tutorial for creating the bootable XP disc worked great and I would like to have a backup with SP1 on it for my Win7 Home Premium x64 (retail version). I didn't see anything in the Win 7 tutorials, maybe it can't be done with 7, but if it can I would do it so I have the cd with SP1 on it already.
how can I create a windows xp lite bootable usb, I tried using wintoflash but the USB I created doesnt trigger a boot option.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 Professional as a 32 bit version. Now I want to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on my machine from my USB drive. The problem is that my machine doesn't boot from the USB drive. Anyway, I've tried with a 32 bit version of Windows 7 on my USB drive. This works well, but not with a 64 bit version. Why it doesn't work? Just to be on the safe side, I've tested it several times with other USB drives and followd thoroughly the instructions(diskpart).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been fixing PCs for friends and family for years, some of them are really good at screwing up an OS a only couple months after i install a fresh copy of xp or 7. i would like to be able to create a restore method simple for them to use to reset there machine back to my initial installed state. was thinking something similar to newer PCs F11 restore method or something i could add to a bootloader in 7 or xp making it a "dualboot" with just the OS and the recovery.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy main pc got a new motherboard and requires a fresh install of windows 7. Ok, I have the windows 7 iso and I have the motherboard installed into my computer. I put the ISO on my flash drive but when I booted from the flash drive I got "Reboot and select a proper boot device or insert media in selected device and press a button." After 2 days and countless hours searching I can not get this to work. The computer I am on right now is a Windows XP 32x laptop. Is it even possible for me to make a usb drive loaded with windows 7 ultimate 64x for another computer? With every step by step guide I found on how to do this they either said to use the Windows 7 usb dvd download tool (which is what I have been using since the beginning to no avail) or do it manually. To do it manually involves the Diskpart feature of the command prompt, which on xp, doesnt detect flash drives. So...I cant do it manually.tell me if I have to reinstall my old motherboard (heatsink installation is a pain which is why I dread installing motherboards) and then upon reinstalling old motherboard do I have to set up my flash drive (again) and hope I didnt mess up just to rip the motherboard back out and put the new new one back in and hope the usb boots this time?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy tv has a DVI-D "hdtv" input, and my Dell latitude d620 has a vga output, so I bought a vga to DVI-D adapter, but either my computer or tv still won't pick up each other's signal, and thus I am still left unable to view my computer on my TV. The TV doesn't have a vga input, nor does it say "computer" anywhere, as the newer tvs do.

I just got new PC with vista 64 bit system. And can not run some old programs I use for FS2004. Gauges and more. They all ran sweet on my laptop vista 32 bit.
Moving over to Windows 7 pro 64 will this solve the problem. Haven't had chance to see if the new Windows 7 pro disc has 32 and 64 bit versions on i9t as I’m in work. If not will Windows 7 64 run my old programs?

Is 3 fully backward compatible with 2?

View 9 Replies View Relatedif I misunderstand XP mode. It would seem the case for buying windows 7 with XP is to support older hardware and software that is not yet compatible.
However, you have to have a bios and cpu which support virtualization which are only the new hardware/cpu's.
XP mode would be most suitable for older hardware running XP machines.
What am I missing or don't understand?

I accidently set it up that I would have to log in .I haven't found a solution to remove this until last night through a "tweaker" I found.Unfortunately I can't remember the name. They had an option to remove this password which I clicked on. When I tried to log on tonight the log in was still there and on top of that my old password did not work.
