Way To Get Existing Drivers To Provide Louder Volume
May 4, 2012
I've been refurbishing some Dell Optiplexes and have run into a problem. The Optiplex 755 runs Windows 7 perfectly, with good volume for the onboard audio. With the 745s though, the audio is extremely low and faint. I've tried running the audio drivers in compatibility mode and as administrator, but nothing seems to work.Does anyone know of a way to get the existing drivers to provide louder volume, or a different driver that may work?It looks like the integrated audio is 'ADI 1983 High Definition Audio'

Okay so, my laptop's system is unable to boot, so I just tried to format it since I have to do that for a very long time, and when it asked me in which partition I want to install windows there was nothing, although when I clicked "Load Driver" I could access the hard disk's files, the hard disk IS listed in the bios normally but windows does not recognize it, I tried using Kaspersky Rescue disk(the only CD I had along with the recovery disk)and when I used the File Manager, the hard disk still didn't show, are there any drivers I have to install?I have burned both fujitsu9that's my laptop) and Seagate's websites and can't find anything, I have searched forums but the only answers were "check if your hd is listen in bios".So, i IS listed in bios but I can't reinstall windows nor access it

For the last week now my computer has been making a humming sounds that progressively gets louder. The strange thing is if I press my hand firmly on the side of the case the humming stops for a short time.

I've tried installing the OS two times, both times my video card has not been recognized. It was properly recognized in the following builds: 7000, 7048, 7057, 7068, 7077. I've tried using ATi Catalyst and also used the following process suggested on techPowerUp! Forums - Powered by vBulletin with no luck:
1, Uninstall existing drivers through Control Panel, reboot in safe mode and run Driver Sweeper to clean up, then:
2, Go here and download the 61.1mb package
3, Go here and download Mobility Modder the install it
4, Go here to download the update, and extract the file into the Mod Tool Directory, overwriting the previous file
5, Run the ATI driver package you downloaded earlier, then cancel after it has been extracted (when you see a black window with orange buttons)
6, Run the Mobility Modder, pointing to the driver folder e.g: C:ATISupport 9_3_vista 64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu
7, When complete, close mobility modder, navigate yourself to the above folder and run setup.exe
8, Go to C:ATISupport9_3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu DriverPackagesDriversDisplay LH6A_INF
9, At the end it will most likely fail, however, before rebooting, go to device manager, right click and and click update driver, click browse my computer for software, then click browse and point to:C:ATISupport9_ 3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enuDriverPackages DriversDisplayLH6A_INF
10, Click next and it should install the driver. Reboot and all should be okay!

I've built a dozen PCs for myself and family members, but now I have a paying customer that wants a new PC with Windows-7 installed.I have my OEM copy and can easily install & register it for them, but I'd like to provide them with their own copy of Windows 7 on DVD. My OEM copy is too big to fit on a normal DVD and I'd rather not give them an OEM disc anyway. Is there a way to provide them with a DVD of Windows-7 after I install my OEM copy, or must I purchase the "full" version for $125 just so they have a physical copy?

To prevent the new default route from being created, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) on the Networking tab for the properties of the VPN connection. Click Properties, and then click Advanced. In Advanced TCP/IP Settings, on the General tab, clear the Use default gateway on remote network check box. I have internet access but I dont think its through the VPN. I am connected but it says on the VPN stats: Without internet access. Because when I try to go through some blocked ports in my school it still doesnt work but It works with YourFreedom(with openvpn mode).

I have a PC at home that is shared with several people. What I would like to do is to have a way to somehow generate and give people a temporary password that they could use to login to my account on my PC, thereby not having to disclose my password. Does anyone know of any software or something built-in to Windows 7 that would allow me to do this?

I created a separate partiton and installed Win 7 fine. It dual booted fine as well. I then renamed the old XP boot partition and this caused the PC to give NTLDR missing and wouldnt boot.
So I reinstalled Win 7 as a custom install and it all boots fine into Win 7 without providing me a dual boot option. I am not too concerned about this as eventually I was going to go completely over to Win 7 anyway
Question I have is
1) The old Win XP boot partition is viewable in explorer. Can I just reformat this and reclaim the space - I want to make sure that the PC is not looking for any files in that old partition
2) Can I delete the Windows.old folder as well

my friend has this computer with OEM windows 7 home premium 32 bit.But is running slow, it is a Sempron(AM2) with 1GB DDR2.I want to give him 3GB of ram and my Athlon X2 3800+.If i change the processor will i need to revalidate windows or you only need that if you change the motherboard? Also, If we need to format his computer (cos it's slow), how would i go about revalidating OEM windows 7? Does Microsoft provide an iso of windows 7 home premiun 32 bit? And then can we insert the key on the sticker normally or we need to do something else?

so i have a blue yeti, and i'm an online animator/voice actor. whenever i record audio on my blue yeti (or any other mic) i record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as i yell or whatever. this is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. however, afterwards, it means i have really quite recordings. not a problem right? now that it's recorded right, i can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? wrong. i'm not an audio expert so i must be missing something. but why in gods name would the audio distort and peak after it's recorded successfully? it's all there, it's all clean audio. if i turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds crystal clear! all i want to do is do that inside the computer so that when i upload it to Internet people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. but if i increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! it sounds awful! why?! i tried in sony acid and audacity and they both do the same thing! i can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart!

I am unable to find a single resolution that will provide a good display on all websites. As a result I am adjusting it when moving from one site to another. Not difficult to do, but if I could rid myself of this chore, it would be great. Problems are wrong screen size and garbled text.WIN 7 premium, 64 bit, using 32 bit IE9 due to the lack of a flash player that will work on 64 bit IE9.

I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.
First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

I have a new Win 7 PC. I have an existing two XP PC home network. The existing network successfully shares files and a printer. Integrating the new Win 7 PC into my network, I have been half successful. I have internet access through the existing router on all three PCs and I have printer access on all three PCs since moving the printer to the Win 7 machine. Both XPs can see the Win 7 machine on the network.
This is where things go off the rails for me though. The Win 7 machine cannot see anything in its network except itself and the router. Keep in mind that certain apps can see back and forth. Windows Easy Transfer was able to see my XP machine from the Win 7 machine and move all my files over just fine. Norton NIS 2009 can see all 3 PCs from all 3 PCs and interact with each perfectly fine.
Likewise, the XP PCs aren't quite there yet either. They alternate between having 100% access to the Win 7 public USERS share and having no access at all - with no changes being made to the setting. Currently it is not accessible and I might not have permission to use this network resource. Interestingly with the XP to Win 7 connection fails, it fails on both XP computers at the same time. Either both work just fine or neither works at all.
All three PCs are in the same workgroup. All three have the same user account names and passwords. In Win 7, Network discovery is on along with all the other Advance Network Sharing features. I am currently sharing the Win 7 shares with Everyone. I have tried shutting the firewall off and leaving it on. All three are set at Full Trust for NIS 2009.

Currently I have an internal network (no internet access), with a few XP workstations conencted via a hub, working fine. When I added a Win 7 computer, it cannot connect to the network. It says "unidentified network" and when I run troubleshooter, result is "does not have a valid IP configuration." Note that all the XP computers are using the NetBIOS protocol; TCP/IP is not selected.
