I have 135Mbps link speed support ADSL WI-FI router. I have enabled 802.11b+g+n wireless mode and use 20+40 MHz on my router. I use "WAP-PSK" authentication. In addition to that, have a 2.4 & 5 GHz frequency support router and client device.
But my network connection display (WLAN) I have a 54Mbps link speed, why is that? How do I use 135Mbps or at least 100Mbps link speed? Is it a some configuration issue? My Ethernet connection show full speed (100Mbps). (I'm not talking about my internet connection speed).
On my HP dv6-2010eq laptop with Atheros WiFi chipset the WiFi connection drops at 'random' intervals after the laptop has been started. The only thing that solves this issue (albeit for short) is manually disabling and then re-enabling the WLAN device from Network Adapters. This manifested few months ago, alas I didn't recall what I might have changed back then.Sometimes it drops almost immediately after boot, sometimes it takes hours to do so... The lappy has 3 user accounts. Exactly the same behavior on all three of them. Now, the only thing I could see as a possible reason from the event logs is that right before the drop an event 'WLAN Autoconfig has successfully stopped.' occurs. Without any further explanation. So far, when I boot in Safe Mode with Networking this issue doesn't present itself for as many hours as the laptop runs.Tried disabling few programs (firewall, antivir, etc.) but still the same...
I recently received a HP notebook 110 which has a WLAN setup ( I believe this is WiFi). At home I use an older computer, a HP a1000n Pavillion with a 56k internal modem and MSN dialup. Is it possible to set up a WiFi station so I can my notebook can access the Internet? I am posting this here because the notebook using Windows 7, though my Pavilion uses XP. If this is the wrong area, please let me know and I will be move to the correct area. For anybody who wishes to reply, the answers must be complete and with a minimum of jargon so I will be able to understand them.
I've setup my father's notebook (Win 7 32Bit) to connect via WLAN to the router. Another notebook is already running on that router (did not tried it parallel at the same time yet).
I've setup SSID (I've made it visible at the router for the initial connection), WPA2 & TKIP incl. password. Router allows additional WLAN devices, IP/DNS etc. should be set by the router.
Automatic connection does not connect to the router. Manual connection seems to work, but shortly after "connecting" I'll get a message to input user and password. I have not seen such a screen in conjunction with WLAN connection before (and I've set-up several devices at different routers). I've tried user and password of the user logged into windows, but this did not work.
Windows 7 home premium 32bit zonealarm basic firewall wlancard dell 1450 usb
Info: the card never had a vista or windows 7 driver. A computer skilled took out a folder from the windows xp installer. Through device manager the folder is installed as driver, and the wlan card works. I wanted to use ubuntu 'remote terminal server'.Connected via pc to pc lan cross over cable. Maybe the connection succeded because ping test was ok. But never made the program 'remote terminal server' work. At a point zonealarm made trouble, allthough disabled. Shutting down computer worked. Error: Next time I turned on the computer, wlan didn't work. The wlan card makes the connection but there is a yellow triangle on the wifi icon in taskbar. Under network it keeps hanging, messaging 'identifying'.I tried this: Reinstalling zonealarm basic. Reinstalling wlan card folder driver. Didn't work.
'm a 3D artist, and I'm currently rendering out a whole load of frames. I'm using a reasonable, Sony Vaio laptop for the task, which has an Intel i7-720QM, however I'd like to know what CPU speed it's currently operating at.I know that it says it runs at 1.6Ghz as standard but then can ramp up to 2.8Ghz, I just wondered if it truly was going at that speed whilst it's rendering.
I've recently bought a new computer which I had quite some trouble with. First of all the games that keep crashing (think it's a windows 7 issue so I'm just going to wait for the MS solution). Secondly I have (and this is the issue) my network that isn't able to run at maximum speed.
At the moment my Internet only works when I put network speed to 10mbps Half Duplex instead of 100mpbs Full Duplex. This means I only have a max speed on my network of 1mb per second and the same applies for the Internet. This computer is linked to a network of 3 other computers (who don't have a single problem) and is directly attached to a switch and then to a modem.
We tried many things to get it to work again, there was only one thing that actually worked. The thing that worked was attaching my computer directly to the modem. The problem is however that that means that all the other people don't have Internet.
My question is, is it the switch that causes this problems (it's updated with the latest firmware and was the newest version 1.5 years ago)? Or is it my computer that causes it for some reason (windows 7)?
I've updated every single driver, windows, updated bios etc. etc. I run windows 7 ultimate 64bits. ps. If you need more information, I'll be happy to give it to you. (thought I'd keep it as short as possible for now)
I cant play the game in full screen it shows only in windowed mode. I cant put mouse cursor as well in window. I tried changing the resolution of the game but it doesn't change if I set it to low resolution, I cant see anything but can hear the sound.
I used to access shared internet from a router, now the router has no internet we only use it for local home sharing. I added the secondary adapter to connect to the DSL-modem directly.so now when I disable the 1st adapter my internet works fine. when they're both enabled internet doesn't work at full speed or sometimes not at all.
Yesterday I installed RC1 of Windows 7 on my HP 6910p. After install I immediately noticed that the notebook makes much more fan noise then under Windows XP.
The fan seems to be running constantly and whenever I seem to do something a bit graphical it goes at full speed.
Are there any other (HP 6910p) users that have the same experience?
Is there something I can do / tweak to make my notebook quite again.
I have already disabled the superfetch however this only reduces the HDD activity.
I have a program that measures bandwidth and its reporting that I am downloading at full speed (1.2 mb/s ) all the time, and I think its accurate as my internet feels really slow. I double checked I wasn't downloading anything, and that all of the updates were on idle, but there is still traffic. What should I do? Also, I noticed a ridiculous drop from 250 GB to 217 GB of free space. The free space drop is gone, its showing 250 GB but the bandwidth is still a problem
So I built a new computer yesterday and when I ran a speed test today I was only getting 9.5mbps when I usually get over 30mbps. It has something to do with this computer since my other computer is getting 30mbps. And yes this computer is connected directly through and ethernet cable.
For my laptop, the speed was 300Mbps few days before but it changed to 54Mbps last night. I did not change any settings for my router and adapter and the only software I installed during this period is Windows update of March. I found the client monitor in router's setup page displays 802.11n is disabled. So what are the reasons?
i just bought new laptop and now Wi-Fi keeps dropping every few minutes and the download speed is low with old laptop i'm getting 13Mbps down and 9Mbps up speed while with new laptop getting barely 2Mbps down (note that upload speed i can get 9Mbps also) so 1) there's no download speed 2) occasionally Wi-Fi drops and reconnects (sometimes needs to troubleshoot to fix) 3) when running troubleshoot to fix Wi-Fi, it is giving that there was problem with wireless adapter or access point (which it fixes till next drop).
i've tried to search Your forum and others but dont seem to find person who has all the problems at the same time as mine also the speed under connection status does not go under 54 Mbps
Bought i3 3220 (ivybridge), 2x4gb ram, 120GB SSD, CM Elite case & psuSo installed everything powered up got 4 beeps shutdownReset mobo as had been used before got 3 beepsI tried unplugging everything but cpu/fan/ramTried each ram stick in each slot etc checked cpu seated properlyTried everything i could think off got 3 beeps alwaysFinally i figured mobo might need bios update to run ivybridge chip (which was already supposed to have been done in old system) so i ditched the Z68 and ordered a gigabyte Z77-DS3H, so now all components are brand spankersAssembled everything 3 short beeps, pause, 3 short beeps shutdownSame as before unplugged everything same beep comboOnly mobo cpu/cooler/ram same beep comboWent to my office robbed some ddr3 out of my i7 system swapped it and still got 3/pause/3 beeps each stick in each slot and still the sameAnd i have noticed on power up cpu fan goes full speed for a few seconds then when beeps start it runs slowly dont know if this is relevantNow im stuckthe only components i havent swapped out is the cpu & psu, but is it possible the cpu is faulty, is this a common thing ???
I have an Atheros AR9285 WiFi card in my laptop, and the other day, it just became very unstable with the connection and it is giving me very low transfer speeds. I've come to think that a Windows Update replaced the driver in it, how could I fix it, or fix the problem?
a couple days ago or so i hopped on bf3, and reallized that it was going super slow, i got on fb, and pages werent loading, i whent to speedtest.net and that took awhile to load also, so i finnaly ran a speed test, TWC gave me a 26.6 mbps download and .96 upload. that is astronomically slow seeing as how i am running a wired connection on a 50mbps connection. i ran anti virus, came up with nothing, i am cleaning up trash and have reset the network multiple timee
i registered to the forum cause i am encountering a problem with my old internet's connection speed on a new computer.i have a 2mbs internet connection which has been enough for me for the past few years. problem is that since i bought a new desktop my connection is extremely slow, Internet videos lag almost instantaneously even on 360p (which didn't happen with the same connection on my old desktop). moreover, downloading from firefox or programs like origin speed seems not to go above 15 or 20 kbps while on my old desktop it reached its limit around 210kbps. as you understand this is extremely annoying, i am suspecting that the problem is hardware related. i am using a modem (the one my isp provided) and an ethernet cable to my desktop. additionally i am using windows firewall and microsoft security essentials.
how to setup this, i want to setup this to people that have access to my virtual wifi will have bandwidth limit in order not have all my internet bandwidth consumes and cannot have access to certain website (eg like Internet, facebook ,my adsl modem web configure page).
a friend of mine now has a gigabit connection but can only get 400Mb download when tested via speedtest.net. while the engineer was installing everything he noted speeds of 700Mb on the laptop used for the setup.
would the lower speeds be due to the realtek network card he has?
I'm using a USB dongle to connect to the internet. Sometimes i want to limit my download speed of the connection. How can i do that? Is there any programs that allow me to achieve this?
i have officially 100mb/sec speed, however sometimes i am unable to load pages, and download Internet clips etc. the information gets stopped in someway. other times things run fast and smoothly.a speed check was done - its normally over 100mb/sec. but when things are going wrong the test is unable to complete and the test seems to pause for some seconds then speed-up to perhaps 300mb/sec before getting stuck again when it goes to test upload speed.the computer uses no modem, or router - cable runs straight from the computer to the wall contact as instructed.

Did somthing go wrong with the re configuration?
I have wifi connection of one service provider and Lan Connection of another service provider... Can i use both connection simultaneously on my laptop? having window 7. They both have automatic configuration of IPs
I am trying to set up a workgroup between two Windows 7 Pro computers over a wifi connection. I have set the workgroup name to be identical on both machines (Lastname-Home), but neither machine can see the other. Network discovery and sharing are turned on. From my googleing and forum searching (here and on other forums) all I can find is people saying that if the workgroup names match you should be able to see the PCs.
I've tried to set up a Wi-Fi connection to use for Nintendo DS/3DS, but nothing seems to work. I don't have a wireless internet connection, so I bought the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, but that does not work with Windows 7... I've also tried another Wi-Fi USB device, but that doesn't seem to work either. I guess I should get a wireless router that allows Wi-Fi connection, but which would actually work for Nintendo DS/3DS?
i'm getting annoyed with my sister because she uses too much bandwidth on her laptop than i can get, he uses facebook, twitter, Internet, and utorrent at the same time and i'm only using Internet, visiting forums and playing games. how do i slow down the wifi speed so i can make her internet usage more pain in the ass?
