View 5 Replies View RelatedFor my laptop, the speed was 300Mbps few days before but it changed to 54Mbps last night. I did not change any settings for my router and adapter and the only software I installed during this period is Windows update of March. I found the client monitor in router's setup page displays 802.11n is disabled. So what are the reasons?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi just bought new laptop and now Wi-Fi keeps dropping every few minutes and the download speed is low with old laptop i'm getting 13Mbps down and 9Mbps up speed while with new laptop getting barely 2Mbps down (note that upload speed i can get 9Mbps also) so 1) there's no download speed 2) occasionally Wi-Fi drops and reconnects (sometimes needs to troubleshoot to fix) 3) when running troubleshoot to fix Wi-Fi, it is giving that there was problem with wireless adapter or access point (which it fixes till next drop).
i've tried to search Your forum and others but dont seem to find person who has all the problems at the same time as mine also the speed under connection status does not go under 54 Mbps
I have 135Mbps link speed support ADSL WI-FI router. I have enabled 802.11b+g+n wireless mode and use 20+40 MHz on my router. I use "WAP-PSK" authentication. In addition to that, have a 2.4 & 5 GHz frequency support router and client device.
But my network connection display (WLAN) I have a 54Mbps link speed, why is that? How do I use 135Mbps or at least 100Mbps link speed? Is it a some configuration issue? My Ethernet connection show full speed (100Mbps). (I'm not talking about my internet connection speed).

View 2 Replies View RelatedAtm I have 500GB array from two 250GB in raid0 with Vista on it... its using up about 90GB of space (leaving around 375GB free) and I want to shrink the partition to say 100GB (see below). Then I want to reformat the unallocated space (~350GB) to be used by my Windows 7 install on my SSD. I know you can use the Disk Management in device manager to do all this but I want the 350GB free space partition to be at the front of the disk (the fastest) and have the old 100GB Vista partition right at the end (in the slowest part I guess, which its ok cos I will rarely boot into it).
About above... just wondering when I shrink the partition to 100GB even though it is only using 90GB is 10GB a good enough buffer for windows to not spaz out? Or is it even too much can I get away with just 2-3GB buffer... I wont be installing or writing anything new to it. It will be mainly just for reading data and booting.

I just want to be able to increase the speed of my fans beyond their spec, and have complete manual control over their RPMs without a care about the temps. I have a liquid cooling setup and the fans on my radiator as they are right now simply aren't cutting it. I have them hooked up to the motherboard in hopes of finding something to just boost their speed via software, but SpeedFan is the only thing I could find and it simply sucks for that purpose.

Always, as usual, make sure you save and close applications before shutting down to prevent data loss. I also recommend that you backup the registry before editing it.

View 0 Replies View Related2 Days ago I upgraded my PC and moved from XP to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Everything was going smooth as butter, untill it was moment to use my internet. When I try to download something I get 50-60kb/s dl speed, 100 at max, while in XP my normal dl speed was around 5mb/s. I've installed all the newest drivers for absolutely everything, changed 3 lan cards, including the integrated on my motherboard, and all do the same stuff. My internet is super slow and I get disconnected every 5 or so minutes. I'm with a broadband (PPPoE) connection. I've heard there is a possibility my motherboard is faulty, because they were some mobos wich have problems with Windows 7. My setup is this:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having the same problem that a few others have been having where when I open a certain folder, windows explorer begins to creep up in CPU count, and my computer starts to chug, but the solutions haven't worked for me. Mainly because the problem files are .wavs, instead of an .avi. Nonetheless, I tried. I went registry diving, changed settings, disabled services, to no avail.

I went from browsers not working before resetting my 3 day old gateway, to crazy slow browser and download speed. So at least I'm moving up in life! How can I increase my browser speed and downloads? Am I missing a driver, need to configure/reset IP's or winsock? I'd like to refrain from changing too much I have to reset factory setting again.

I swapped out the MB, CPU and memory in my rig. I did not reinstall windows 7. I was pretty impressed that this worked as well as it did but I have one nagging problem... The network upload speed has suffered a lot. It's not just throughput but the initial "connecting" handshake seems to take a while. For instance, if I go to one of the speed test sites the download is fine. It starts up immediately and is steady at around 20mbs. When this is complete it takes between 10 and 20 seconds for the upload test to start (just says connecting)... and only uploads at .5 to 1mbs. Historically this has been immediate and much faster? After much searching I found that disabling windows management instrumentation in msconfig restored my upload network connectivity. In a speed test the download didn't change, but after that was complete the upload started immediately and was around 5mbs.I disabled/re-enabled this several times to make sure that I got the same results. Is there any way to "fix" WMI without wiping/reinstalling? That's my last resort.
Other info
MB upgrade was from a ASUS p5qse2 to ASUS p8z77-vlk
CPU went from Q9550 to I7 3770K
Troubleshooting went in this order:
bounced router/modem
bypassed router
reinstalled network adapter
disabled/reenabled windows firewall
disabled wmi
I formatted my old PIII and installed Windows 7 Pro. Here below my configuration:
AOPEN AX34, P3 1.0 GHz, 1,5GB RAM, WD 120 GB, Pioneer DVR-116D, Plextor PX-716A, HIS 9600 256Mb, Canon i865, Windows 7 PRO
Now, this PC is only meant to run 2 programs and some browsing. The programs are not a problem they are running well, browsing it is. Essentially, with IE 9.0 it does not move, it takes ages to load pages. With Chrome is much better but still unacceptable for ordinary browsing. Is there any tweak I can do to improve the browsing experience? Also, is there a way in the registry to change (temporarily) the RAM parameter and let an application I want to install to believe I have 2GB instead of 1.5GB? Otherwise, that application will not install as they require 2GB min. RAM.
Can you really speed up Windows by simplifying the Windows7 / Vista Interface? If so what would you need to do make the entire windows have a bland, Windows95 look ?
