Windows Explorer Taking Up 99% Processing Speed?
May 24, 2011
I've been having the same problem that a few others have been having where when I open a certain folder, windows explorer begins to creep up in CPU count, and my computer starts to chug, but the solutions haven't worked for me. Mainly because the problem files are .wavs, instead of an .avi. Nonetheless, I tried. I went registry diving, changed settings, disabled services, to no avail.

I usually have about half dozen IE windows opened at anytime. I might start a few more and then close a couples. But eventually I notice one or two if the IE processes start to use up several hundred MB ram up to eventually 1GB ram. When one of the IE processes hit the 1 GB ram mark, it's inevitable that one of the IE windows then stop functioning, as clicking the link you don't get any page loading. If I then shut down that process, then everything works again.
Once in a while, I notice that one of the IE process would reach high ram usage of hundred MB ram and the screen saver would stop coming on as well as the power setting for turning off screen would be disabled. This is even if there's no IE process running a video at that time. It's possible that I might have open IE to say view a video before but I know I close that IE process and yet this still happens. If I go and shut down all the IE processes that seem to take a lot of mem, then screen saver comes on again. I imagine that this also affects other browsers as well?

So when I leave my computer it goes into hibernation mode, how ever when I come back it acts like its loading and then the POST comes up after that it says: "Your computer can't come out of hibernation.
Status: 0xc0000411
Info:A fatal error occurred processing the restoration data.
File: hiberfil.sys
Any information that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost."It does this ever time it goes into hibernation, I disabled it and I have no problems now but I want my computer to hibernate because I leave it on all day long and it will wear components out faster and waste power.I have tried updating all the drivers and hardware drivers from the website for the HD but nothing helped.

I just want to be able to increase the speed of my fans beyond their spec, and have complete manual control over their RPMs without a care about the temps. I have a liquid cooling setup and the fans on my radiator as they are right now simply aren't cutting it. I have them hooked up to the motherboard in hopes of finding something to just boost their speed via software, but SpeedFan is the only thing I could find and it simply sucks for that purpose.

Any time I start an application that requires a moderate amount of processing, the whole computer skips. By skips, I mean the audio glitches and makes an annoying sound, the video freezes for a fraction of a second before catching up, etc. I was working on a video editing project last night, for instance, and this problem got really bad then. Now it happens whenever I try to play music through iTunes, or even a video online. So far, I have tried updating video card drivers, checking for updated chipset drivers, checking for possible overheating - nothing has helped. The Computer: I just bought the base components for this computer and received them in the mail less than a week ago. I put it together one night last week, and I noticed this issue as soon as I imported my music and got some working speakers attached. (It's much more noticeable with audio) [code]

I've been getting this error message:"exception processing message parameters 0xc000007FEFC3E718C"every time I shut down or log off, accompanied by "Bad Image" messages from time to time, usually concerning davhlpr.dll. I've run the System File Checker three times, and each time it returns an error saying davhlpr.dll is corrupt and it can't restore it from the file store. I tried replacing davhlpr.dll with a copy I downloaded - once in Safe Mode and after setting the proper authorizations -, but each time I run the System File Checker it still shows davhlpr.dll as corrupt and says it can't replace it. By the way, I get the same "exception processing message" error when logging off in Safe Mode and from a brand-new account I created. This is a fully updated, recent install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. It seems to have started happening after I tried a couple of dialog-box enchancement utilities. But I've uninstalled everything I'd installed from before it started happening.

I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my 30 gb SSD. When I was done, there was about 14-15 gb left on the drive. After installing drivers, I had about 12 gb left. Then I used Windows Update and installed all the important updates. After all the updates, I had only 4-5 gb left. Is this supposed to happen? Why is it taking up so much space? Is there any way I can free up space on there?

my internet started running very slow about 3 weeks ago. It also takes approximately 2 minutes for my computer to shut down. I am running Windows 7, 64bit, with 6 gb of ram. I ran malwarebytes and it did not detect anything. I cleaned my hard drive with the disc cleaner. I ran microsoft essentials and it did not detect anything. I recently purchased Norton antivirus and ran a complete scan and it found nothing. Every time I shut down the computer it takes exactly the same amount of time to shut down.

my computer is currently taking up to 15 minutes to boot up and takes an age to shut down.
This first started on Sunday, when, picking up my Acer laptop, I accidentally held the power button, switching the machine off. Since then the problem has occurred, an although the laptop switches on and works, it just takes an absolute age to boot/switch off.

I have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 1750, Windows 7 Home Premium that is taking upwards of 4 minutes to boot up. If I boot in safe mode it will boot fine except it does hang ever so slightly while loading drivers, with the last driver being classpnp.sys but it is only for a few seconds then proceeds to finish booting up without any issues.
Here is what I have done so far...
- Stopped a lot of programs from starting up at start up.
- Ran Malwarebytes and Virus Scan (Microsoft Essentials) both in safe mode. I then downloaded and ran CC Cleaner. Malwarebytes detected numerous entries of PUP.MyWebSearch and two entries for Trojan.Vundo. It was able to fix both issues. Virus Scan (Full) came back clean. CCleaner did it's thing.
- Opened device manager to check to see if there were any driver issues, and I don't see any indication of that.
After all this the slow boot still happens. Now all this being said, once the computer does boot up it runs quickly without any issues.

I can be in MS Word, After Effects, Surfing or ANY OTHER PROGRAM, and not click out, but be just working away and all the sudden SOMETHING (your part) causes my active window/program to go like it was a background process. could be in the middle of typing an email, and in the middle of a word and I can get half of it typed and then... BOOM! I'm out. The program DOES NOT close, it just acts like I clicked away to the desktop or another program.
Then I have to click back on my email and can resume typing for a bit. This happens every 5 minutes or so (haven't timed it). When it clicks itself out, it doesn't really go anywhere that I can tell, but something is definitely making my active window/program become inactive. I'm assuming it's some background process, but I don't see anything pop-up or blink or give me ANY indication at all that it has taken the active position.
I'm not sure how to even phrase this question since I don't know what is really going on. But it's driving me crazy in my video editing program (Premiere) especially since I'm in it about 15 hours a day. So it's happening, as you can imagine, 5-10 times an hour during my playack.
In fact, just at this very moment it did it again while writing here. My Chrome page became inactive and I had to reclick right here to continue writing.
I've had probably 50 computers since Windows 98 and I've never seen this before. And of course this has to happen on my big edit monster that I'm on all day. The system is a dual Xeon x5680, overclocked to 4.5Gzh, with 48 GB ram. I'm running on a EVGA SR-2 motherboard running the latest bios (as of 2 months ago). Runs like a beast in everything, very stable, just this annoying problem that keeps surfacing all the time. I'm running Win 7 Ult 64.

My PC started taking ~30 seconds to shut down recently. This never happened before. I must add that it doesn't always happen. If I restart / shut down soon after turning the computer, it shuts down in under 5 seconds. But if I use it for several hours then it takes half a minute or so.I can't think of many things I changed, but I remember installing a number of Windows updates and also new Catalyst 12.10 video card drivers.Things I've tried: Checked the "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" setting, it's 0. Tried this tutorial and used the 2 second thing, no change. Enabled verbose startup, shutdown, logon, and logoff status Messages. This was pretty useless as when shutting down it cycles through "Stopping services" and other stuff faster than I can read, but then gets stuck on the "Shutting down" part, not very informative There doesn't seem to be any hung apps because I get no prompt to end task (I got that a few times before, and it seems to happen way before it goes into the "Shutting down" message).

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional on a 60GB OCZ Vertex 3 and the drive is down to a remaining 15GB out of 55.7 total available space. This is confusing because my last several installs of the exact same OS on the exact same size drives took up much less space. Even after installing several programs like Photoshop and Office, I still had 24GB to spare on my last install with a 60GB Agility 2.
