View 2 Replies View RelatedAtm I have 500GB array from two 250GB in raid0 with Vista on it... its using up about 90GB of space (leaving around 375GB free) and I want to shrink the partition to say 100GB (see below). Then I want to reformat the unallocated space (~350GB) to be used by my Windows 7 install on my SSD. I know you can use the Disk Management in device manager to do all this but I want the 350GB free space partition to be at the front of the disk (the fastest) and have the old 100GB Vista partition right at the end (in the slowest part I guess, which its ok cos I will rarely boot into it).
About above... just wondering when I shrink the partition to 100GB even though it is only using 90GB is 10GB a good enough buffer for windows to not spaz out? Or is it even too much can I get away with just 2-3GB buffer... I wont be installing or writing anything new to it. It will be mainly just for reading data and booting.
How can I move programs and files from my ssd boot drive to my data drive (Windows 7 x64 PC)?

View 9 Replies View RelatedDue to a windows crash, I had to reinstall windows 7 (64 bit). My windows files in on an SSD and most all of my programs are on another SATA drive. The windows install went through, but none of the programs from the other drive show up when I click on the start button/all programs (somewhat understandable). Is there any quick way to get all of the programs (office, photoshop, etc.) that are on my D drive to appear where you click on "all programs"? Also, can I just delete my windows.old folder from my C drive to free up space? Any reason it is needed? Do I just delete it?

It used to pop up the open with windows, don't do anything and open with Nikon Filer Transer, Canon Zoombrowser. Since I use both ViewNX2 and the Canon Zoombrowser this was very handy to pop up when I inserted the card. I could choose which program to transfer the files with, or just open the card. Now nothing happens. associating my G: Drive with No Action, Open In Folder, Open with Nikon file transfer program or open with Canon Zoombrowser?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a system with an 100 gig C Drive. There are very few programs/files on it, with a few exceptions such as Photoshop and some movie downloads. The drive should have enormous storage capacity. But, it lists that it is nearly completely full, and I have only a few dozen megabytes of storage space left!
The totality of programs on my computer totals at a little more than 8 gigs, and my download data is surely less. So then, where the hell is all this data coming from?, how can I view this mystery ~85 gigs of used storage, and what can I do to get rid of it / free up my C Drive?
I use my 4gb USB2.0 flash drive not only in order to save valubale documents, but also for portable programs. View 1 Replies View RelatedInstead of installing programs on the main OS Drive and installing on a secondary drive or partition, I should still be able to run the programs if I decide to format the OS drive and reinstall Windows. If so, the problem I'm seeing is that Windows won't know those programs are installed (like using the search bar to find programs or the program list) since whatever registry entries the program installer made will be wiped. Is there an easy way to back it up?Or is it advisable to just reinstall everything when I reformat?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn it on windows starts fine but no programs show on the desktop or start menu. I originaly thought everything was gone but all of the virus protection loaded and seems to run fine, and I can run the programs that appear in the notifactation toolbar. When looking at C: it is empty, no folders, nothing! In the add/remove programs it shows everything is still installed. So i am making the assumption that all of the files and programs are still on the hard drive and intact. So at this point i am trying to figure out if this is a hard drive issue or most likely a windows problem.

(for games, data hungry apps)do i need to back that old drive up, reformat it and start again, installing the same programs to it minus the o/s?or does anyone know if i can run those original programs from a slave drive and if so how can i access them in the new o/s?in particular things like antivirus programs, itunes (which has a 130gb library) and so on which are already installed on the old drive but at the moment inaccesible as programs except for their folders.
