Windows 7 PRO - Where To Find The Processor Speed In The Registry
Nov 24, 2012
I have problem to install a software application and I believe the issue is that am trying to install it on an old PIII 1GHz, while the application requires a min. 2Ghz processor speed. However, somebody was able to install the same application by temporarily changing the processor speed in the registry.I guess this is expressed in MHz and I could only find one key under HardwareID, are there more keys in the registry?

I recently installed the newest edition of VirtualPC on my Win7 ultimate machine. Having used VPC 2007 in the past, I was expecting a similar experience. Only to be disappointed when I installed a VM of Win7 Pro, and it was extremely slow. The processor speed reported was 5 Mhz. I find this unusual given my host machine's specs. I assured that Virtualization was enabled in the bios, and the integration tools were installed. In the past i have run XP and Win7 in VMs with great success on far less superior machines.
PC Specs:
System Manufacturer/Model Number
iBuyPower
OS
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
CPU
AMD Phenom II x4 925 (2.8G/8M)
[code]...

Just yesterday I noticed that my Windows experience index scored my processor at a 2.9 when it has always been way higher than that. It caused me to investigate and download a program called CPUID to see how my processor was actually running, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to go higher than 800MHz. As of recent my laptop has been getting extremely hot and sometimes overheating and shutting down (even though I can hear the fan running)... Is it possible that my computer is running so hot that it's attempting to protect itself from overheating by locking my computer to run no higher than 800Mhz?

Windows 7 Pro Administrator plus one User (member of Administrators only)Logged in as User , ran several install shields to install couple of related programs and applications that fomr a Video analytics system on the PC.Typically there will be a registry hive with several sub hives and keys but with the main group titled Citilog.I have installed this software on a 100+ XP's and it always produces this Registry hive in the same place HkeyLocalMachine /software/Citilog 100% of the time this hive/keys key could always be found using reg.edit from the User in which the programs were installed. i recently installed the same program on 7 Win7Pro PC's that had 1 Admin, 2 users member of Administrators only.I ran install shields from User1 on all 7 PC's . The HKeyLocalmachine/software/Citilog registry hive is nowhere in this Users registry or even in the Admin registry or User2 registry but all programs are working . I can do a Search registry using Citilog as search term and I will get several smaller keys form around other parts of the registry but I never see the main Registry "folder" Citilog.

I don't see my optical drive on my computer window box. I uninstalled the driver for my optical drive and reinstalled it (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50F). I still do not see the optical drive listed. In the device status window, under the general tab of the device manager window, is shown this message:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
When I uninstall and allowed the computer to find the driver online, the same failure is shown. The computer window box still doesn't show my optical drive.

While windows was uploading some updates yesterday, I cleaned my registry using Iolo's system mechanic tool and that's where the problems started. (I already read and understood your message: don't use those tools and stay out of your registry. A lesson I learned too late, unfortunately.)My computer rebooted and after a couple of minutes I noticed the message: " failure configuring windows features reverting changes ". I managed to bypass this loop by running in safe mode and recover my computer to a restore point in the past. This only worked partially: I get windows to run in normal mode but I get this message: "system failed while restoring the registry from the restore point. Restore point damaged or was deleted during restore". So it didn't restore but I can get into my windows now.So I don't get the 'reverting change loop' anymore, so I can access my computer but what's the mess? Well my computer is slow as hell.Like mentioned above, I already looked around on this forum and wrote down what I already tried. [code] My computer is terrible slow because of a registry defrag/optimization of a registry tool (in combination with windows update) --> I need to find a way to get back my old registry files but system recovery ain't working.

I just want to be able to increase the speed of my fans beyond their spec, and have complete manual control over their RPMs without a care about the temps. I have a liquid cooling setup and the fans on my radiator as they are right now simply aren't cutting it. I have them hooked up to the motherboard in hopes of finding something to just boost their speed via software, but SpeedFan is the only thing I could find and it simply sucks for that purpose.

let me begin by saying that I am completely new to this forum as well as I am a new user of Windows 7. My laptop was running a Vista OS but it was acting up horribly, so I decided to simply install Windows 7 and it's working pleaI am one for typing and creating a mass amount of text documents and such on which was Microsoft Works that came installed on my Vista. I no longer have any Microsoft Works, or Microsoft Office for that matter, so I can't type besides on Notepad and I would rather not. I tried to install Open Office but it wouldn't install for whatever reason and I am stuck again.

My power settings do not tell Windows 7 to cap processor performance at 25%. I've got a Dell XPS M1330, which is a fairly "old" machine in the modern market, but still performs well when Windows 7 isn't pulling this crap. I've tried resetting power settings, I've brought it in to a shop to check the CPU fan and core temperature and that all checked out, but the Resource Monitor still shows the processor being throttled to a quarter of it's potential.

my processor rating has dropped by 1.3% for some reason. Its dropped from 7.4 to 6.1 and I dont understand the reason why this has happened and Im kind of mystified the reason. Its always been the following:- Processor: Calculations per second 7.4 (dropped to 6.1) Memory (RAM): Memory operations per second 7.4 Graphics: Desktop performance for Windows Aero 7.7 Gaming graphics: 3d business and gaming graphics performance 7.7 Primary hard disk: Disk data transfer rate 5.9 (and this is with SATAIII 6GB) Generated a system health report and that is fine all passed with flying colours, Ive runs some tests myself and cannot find a reason why this has dropped from 7.4 to 6.1 a 1.3% drop in calculations per second.

i own dell vostro 1400, c2d 1.6ghz, 4 gb ddr2 ram (2x2gb), windows 7 ultimate 32 bits.
i was very happy with the performance but suddenly it has become extremely slow to use. it becomes quite unresponsive even for simple tasks like watching Internet in browser. i check windows experience index and found out that processor and memory subscores are very low.
it shows 2.1 for processor and 2.8 memory.
