My power settings do not tell Windows 7 to cap processor performance at 25%. I've got a Dell XPS M1330, which is a fairly "old" machine in the modern market, but still performs well when Windows 7 isn't pulling this crap. I've tried resetting power settings, I've brought it in to a shop to check the CPU fan and core temperature and that all checked out, but the Resource Monitor still shows the processor being throttled to a quarter of it's potential.
Just upgraded Vista to Win7 (install over) on ASUS F8SN. Looks good except can't install drivers for chipset. It says "ACPI x86 - based PC" no matter what. I downloaded pack from Intel (chipset 965G express). Install seems OK, but device manager still not showing system name.
Reason why I care is because CPU throttling does not seem to work. On any power profile CPU clock always is at the top range I specify in the profile.
I guess two questions, how do I force chipset driver and what's preventing CPU throttling?
let me begin by saying that I am completely new to this forum as well as I am a new user of Windows 7. My laptop was running a Vista OS but it was acting up horribly, so I decided to simply install Windows 7 and it's working pleaI am one for typing and creating a mass amount of text documents and such on which was Microsoft Works that came installed on my Vista. I no longer have any Microsoft Works, or Microsoft Office for that matter, so I can't type besides on Notepad and I would rather not. I tried to install Open Office but it wouldn't install for whatever reason and I am stuck again.
my processor rating has dropped by 1.3% for some reason. Its dropped from 7.4 to 6.1 and I dont understand the reason why this has happened and Im kind of mystified the reason. Its always been the following:- Processor: Calculations per second 7.4 (dropped to 6.1) Memory (RAM): Memory operations per second 7.4 Graphics: Desktop performance for Windows Aero 7.7 Gaming graphics: 3d business and gaming graphics performance 7.7 Primary hard disk: Disk data transfer rate 5.9 (and this is with SATAIII 6GB) Generated a system health report and that is fine all passed with flying colours, Ive runs some tests myself and cannot find a reason why this has dropped from 7.4 to 6.1 a 1.3% drop in calculations per second.
Installed Home Premium on an HP workstation which has 2 physical CPU's. Only recognising a single CPU in task manager but there are 2 listed in device manager?
I have recently bought a Dell XPS 15z laptop from eBay and it has an i7 2640m processor which according to the Intel website is a dual core processor. Well the problem i'm having is when I run task manager and CPU-Z etc, only one core is showing under performance. I have tried pretty much everything including reset Bios etc.
iam using laptop with i3 processor with windows7 operating system.iam facing problem while i installing java.so does java run on this(i3 processor with windows7 operating system)or not?or is their any supporting softwares to overcome this problem.
I upgraded to a new processor, motherboard, and gpu. I insalled all the new hardware and turned it on. Windows 7 won't/can't load and can't repair. I can't lose the data on the HDD because there's some very important stuff on there.

The processor is Intel and I use Yamaha external audio interface...Do you think it is the problem with the processor.. Also it happens when I browse..it happens intermittently
I have problem to install a software application and I believe the issue is that am trying to install it on an old PIII 1GHz, while the application requires a min. 2Ghz processor speed. However, somebody was able to install the same application by temporarily changing the processor speed in the registry.I guess this is expressed in MHz and I could only find one key under HardwareID, are there more keys in the registry?
i own dell vostro 1400, c2d 1.6ghz, 4 gb ddr2 ram (2x2gb), windows 7 ultimate 32 bits.
i was very happy with the performance but suddenly it has become extremely slow to use. it becomes quite unresponsive even for simple tasks like watching Internet in browser. i check windows experience index and found out that processor and memory subscores are very low.
I have sony Vaio VPCEC290X before Windows Experience Index was 5.1 but now it reduced to 3.5 i have update to latest bios a i have check power settings cleaned laptop dust also but the score is still 3.5 what might be the problem i have contact sony care also they checked and told nothing problem with your hardware
