Just upgraded Vista to Win7 (install over) on ASUS F8SN. Looks good except can't install drivers for chipset. It says "ACPI x86 - based PC" no matter what. I downloaded pack from Intel (chipset 965G express). Install seems OK, but device manager still not showing system name.
Reason why I care is because CPU throttling does not seem to work. On any power profile CPU clock always is at the top range I specify in the profile.
I guess two questions, how do I force chipset driver and what's preventing CPU throttling?

I have a notebook asus that doesn't have a disk drive or whater its called. I accidently turned my computer off while it was just starting to configure windows. I tried to turn it back on but it just says launch star up repair (which says it cant fix the problem) and start windows normally (which just brings it back to the original screen.
Client of mine has bought his notebook ASUS U31S with external DVD drive yesterday and he asked me to install windows 7 ultimate (origin was windows 7 home edition) beside other operating system Linux and Solaris. I divided the 500 GB hard disk but didn't touch the hidden partition that has recovery. I formatted the C partition that had windows 7 home edition and install a fresh copy of windows 7 ultimate,,,the process was smooth , first restart asking about username and computer name, password,,,etc ,,,,but with the second restart, PC kept rebooting without completing the windows installation. Although I have used the same windows 7 CD on his other new laptop and the installation went smooth without any problem. I tried different media same problem. This laptop does have an external DVD driv, of course it is an LG and brand new What could be the cause of this issue?

My computer is supposed to have built-in Bluetooth. The Asus website has a driver update for Windows 7 64-bit, but when I try to install it I get a message that no Bluetooth device was detected.
My power settings do not tell Windows 7 to cap processor performance at 25%. I've got a Dell XPS M1330, which is a fairly "old" machine in the modern market, but still performs well when Windows 7 isn't pulling this crap. I've tried resetting power settings, I've brought it in to a shop to check the CPU fan and core temperature and that all checked out, but the Resource Monitor still shows the processor being throttled to a quarter of it's potential.
My touchpad (built into the notebook) works fine on the login screen. As soon as I hit the login button it stops totally. Buttons and touchpad. Also my screensaver works before login (on login screen) but once logged in it won't auto start but will start under 'preview'. Windows 7 home premium 64.

The Random Freezing occurs since July/August 2011, it occurs when I used Skype/Gaming/Browing videos streaming, since thats the major things I do.I had formatted my laptop and installed a new copy but Doesnt help. The probelm had already occurred 2 months. So I bought down to ASUS since it was under warranty.
Ram: Tested ok HDD : Tested ok
Firstly, the system was running fine, so they did a format but when I bought it home, the freeze occured, Then they changed the hard disk even though it was tested ok, but the freeze occurred.Followed by the whole motherboard was changed, and yet the freeze occur So I was told not to install and drivers, using the generic drivers that were already installed in my system + the latest ATI driver, it was working fine, for 2 days, However I noticed after the windows update where SP1 was installed, my system starts to freeze again.
I need to install windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS in ASUS A42JK notebook. My backup recovery was deleted & i don't have any backup CD/DVD to re-install. I have an ASUS notebook (U31F i5 with 4 GB mem) which until recently I used only occasionally. It has Legit Office 2010, but no CD/DVD drive. My desktop hard disk crashed in a big way so I am using the notebook as my main computer. It has just recently started throwing up messages that my Windows Homw Premium (x64) is not genuine. It is gebuine OEM and activated (back when I got the notebook), and I have not tampered in any way.

I was just about to buy the Windows 7 upgrade version with the student bundle, when it asked me if I want 32 bit or 64 bit. I thought it would send both, but, sadly, it won't. I do want 64-bit, since Asus decided to pack 4 gigs of ram into my laptop even though they sent it with a 32 bit OS...
So here's my questions:
1. Can I use the 64-bit Windows 7 Home Upgrade Disk to perform a clean install of 64-bit Win7 Home on my notebook that came with 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium?
I am new to the whole upgrade thing... I am used to buying complete OS's. The price is what caught me here. So, I searched around and found that I can't upgrade directly and keep all my files. That is not a problem, I'll back them up... But can I make the clean install to 64-bit? Do I need to use my product key from Vista or what, and will it work to upgrade to 7 in another bit version?
~~ Just found the answer from a thread that got bumped right after I posted this. Sorry for the duplicate thread~~
2. Can my notebook even support Windows 7? It is an Asus N81Vg: CPU: Intel Duo P8600 GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT120M
I'm unsure if the drivers will work and everything, although I do think they should as it's a newer model...
I have a tough problem that I would really appreciate detailed instructions on how to solve. I recently purchased a Motion Computing M1300 Tablet (originally from Circa 2003). It has a 40GB HDD (internal - IDE I think) that has been wiped so it has no OS - only BIOS.
I do not have any keyboard or mouse (its a pen table) or DVD/CD Rom for this computer. It does have a USB and I follewed instructions to create a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 7 on it, but that procedure gets only a few minutes into it and then fails because computer is unable to find any drivers that it is look for.
I do have access to a second XP computer with DVD. I have a Windows 7 DVD and also an XP DVD as well that I can access on the 2nd computer. I can and have taken out the HDD from the Motion Computer computer and I have a USB Drive attachment that allows me to connect the drive from the Motion table (after taking it out) to my second laptop where I can do all kinds of things to it.
What I want to do is figure out some instructions on what to do to the HDD after removing it from my tablet (maybe starting with a low level format) so that I can put an OS on the HDD (though the USB connected to my XP laptop) and after I put the HDD back in the Motion Computing laptop, everything will start working and the Motion Laptop will be usable with the OS.
I would prefer to have Windows 7 on it, but at this point, I would even accept someway to even get XP working on the machine. Everything I have tried so far just has not worked.
i have Toshiba Satellite L635-S3020BN notbook. i have latest amd high definition audio device driver but still i dont have stereo mix . my stereo mix is not disabled i checked it. i only have microphone Conexant CX20671 SmartAudio HD as my recording device.
I have a wireless home network. DLink Router. Desktop PC, Windows 7, (64 bit) . Notebook, Vista, (32 bit). Epson Stylus C66, USB connection to Desktop. Trying to set up printer sharing for the notebook. On the desktop, keep running into error code 0x000006d9. I've Googled this problem and followed possible solutions, disabling firewalls, etc., no avail.
Upon recommendation, I have a new Wintec 4GB Flash Drive to do the transfer but do not have a clue how to do it. My old Dell Inspiron E-1505 notebook had Win XP Media Center and OE email with 1GB harddrive. My new unit is a Dell Inspiron N-17 10 notebook with Win 7 and I changed email client from Yahoo Mail Classic to Mozilla Thunderbird. Got a notebook with Windows 7 on it and all of a sudden it's started not booting up, I've tried running the operating system recovery, memory diagnostix and the various tools presented to me to try and fix the issue with no luck. It just sits at the black screen with the yellow bar running across the bottom and never boots up. Also tried safe mode but it just stops after loading disk.sys.Only way I can get on is if I reinstall Windows, first format all the drives then reinstall it - it works fine (boots up) but as soon as I shut down I can't get back on and I'm back to square one. Also tried an older operating system with no luck (it was running 7 for months before this issue).
