My laptop was running a Vista OS but it was acting up horribly, so I decided to simply install Windows 7 and it's working pleaI am one for typing and creating a mass amount of text documents and such on which was Microsoft Works that came installed on my Vista. I no longer have any Microsoft Works, or Microsoft Office for that matter, so I can't type besides on Notepad and I would rather not. I tried to install Open Office but it wouldn't install for whatever reason and I am stuck again.

Nov 23, 2011My power settings do not tell Windows 7 to cap processor performance at 25%. I've got a Dell XPS M1330, which is a fairly "old" machine in the modern market, but still performs well when Windows 7 isn't pulling this crap. I've tried resetting power settings, I've brought it in to a shop to check the CPU fan and core temperature and that all checked out, but the Resource Monitor still shows the processor being throttled to a quarter of it's potential.

Feb 24, 2012my processor rating has dropped by 1.3% for some reason. Its dropped from 7.4 to 6.1 and I dont understand the reason why this has happened and Im kind of mystified the reason. Its always been the following:- Processor: Calculations per second 7.4 (dropped to 6.1) Memory (RAM): Memory operations per second 7.4 Graphics: Desktop performance for Windows Aero 7.7 Gaming graphics: 3d business and gaming graphics performance 7.7 Primary hard disk: Disk data transfer rate 5.9 (and this is with SATAIII 6GB) Generated a system health report and that is fine all passed with flying colours, Ive runs some tests myself and cannot find a reason why this has dropped from 7.4 to 6.1 a 1.3% drop in calculations per second.

i was very happy with the performance but suddenly it has become extremely slow to use. it becomes quite unresponsive even for simple tasks like watching Internet in browser. i check windows experience index and found out that processor and memory subscores are very low.
it shows 2.1 for processor and 2.8 memory.
