View 2 RepliesWell this time I've got no screenshot but all I can say is this; the wireless support assistant for some odd reason is not loading, I know this because every time the computer is turned on and logged on a little square pops up, well anyways the thing is it doesn't pop up and no error message whatsoever. I know the problem isn't the built in wifi or the wifi button because it does change color on(blue) and off(orange).
To add more to this, since it seems like it's "loading" I click start then the whole explorer.exe freezes up, I try right clicking, task bar n etc. Yes I have tried system restore. The computer was fine an hour ago.. no updates or anything. The only way I can use the laptop is using safemode+network assistant since it doesn't load that wifi support thing. Since I've tried uninstalling hp wifi support assistant through safe mood, and it does not let me.
Anyone shed any light on why Windows7 UpgradeAdvisor.exe wont run, when I click RUN - nothing happens. PC using Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded and installed the advisor, but it won't start. And no error message at all. The privacy link works though.
My PC is an Acer 8920G - a year old. .NET 3.5sp1 plus all other MS updates. OS is Vista Home Premium.
Have rebooted, reinstalled, downloaded again - no different. Also checked the Event log - nothing other than saying the install was successful.
The animation for the Start check button works. Then nothing.
Any ideas?
I am trying to run windows7 upgrade advisor on a four year old hp laptop dv5250us and keep getting ran into unexpected error please reinstall and try again but keep get same error no matter what I do.

Microsoft released the final version of Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor today. This is a essential utility that can help you prepare for a smooth upgrade to Windows 7. Brief Description
Download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your PC is ready for Windows 7. It scans your hardware, devices, and installed programs for known compatibility issues, gives you guidance on how to resolve potential issues found, and recommends what to do before you upgrade.
Overview:-
Before you begin: Be sure to plug in and turn on any USB devices or other devices, such as printers, external hard disks, and scanners, that you regularly use with the PC you're checking.
The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor scans your PC for potential compatibility issues and lets you know about your Windows 7 upgrade options. Within minutes, you'll get a report that tells you if your PC meets the system requirements, if any known compatibility issues with your hardware, devices, and installed programs are found, and gives guidance on what to do to before installing Windows 7 on your PC.

How to Use Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor ?
View 0 Replies View RelatedRunning XP Pro, i7 920 , 4 gig of memory, Gig MB, GTX 9800 Video, Lan Cable connection with remote connection for printer only = going to upgrade to Win 7, however, I can't run Win 7 Advisor - after download on Windows site, I try to run and it says I am not connected to Internet.
Could it be my router is outdated for Win7?
Any suggestions = Thanks for the assist!
Ok, I'm wanting to go from Vista 32-bit to 7 64-bit. I ran the upgrade adviser and it said my Linksys wireless adapter needed action taken. I went to linksys website, but only found the 32-bit driver, and I'm guessing that won't work on 64-bit, right? I have the WMP54G ver 4.1 if anyone can help me out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust found an interesting program. Laplink has come up with a system that will move all of you Windows XP programs to your new Windows 7 install. I haven't used this yet. I did clean installs on all of my machines, but I have a friend that wants me to help him with trying this next week when he gets his copy of Windows 7. I told him I thought he might be better off with a clean install, but since we've already backed up his data for doing a clean install, he wants to try this to see how it works, knowing if its not satisfactory, we'll go ahead and wipe the drive and do a clean install.
I've looked through the program. You run it from your xp boot. Then run a custom install of windows7 but don't format the drive. Reinstall the program and run it and it will restore the programs to Windows7. Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out. I think it may be worth a try for less than $20.
Does anyone have any clue what this could be?
Im geting this when i try to link Live ID to windows account. How do i remove that "devices" ? went over my account&profile twice and didnt find anything...
After working fine for months my Comodo Firewall failed to start properly on one bootup. Without giving me the option to say do NOT make any changes--for each of the two dialog boxes, I said just close the program--the PCA popped up saying it had applied a compatibility fix! (In the past on older OS's under similar circumstances, I would simply reboot and things would be OK afterwards WITHOUT having my system changed.)
How do I see what change(s) were made and, hopefully, undo them so I can reboot my system and see if the trouble reoccurs?
Disabling the Application Compatibility Assistant (the rights and wrongs)
Firstly see this for reference. I decided to disable the ACA so it would not arbitrarily automatically set some compatibility mode on the program again.
What would be the repercussions of doing this apart from the obvious inability of windows not to be able to run a program. Then again surely if a program cant run in the latest greatest version of windows, its time it was either updated or replaced?
I tried going to gpedit.msc and enabling Turn off Program Compatibility Assistant, didnt work.
Does anyone have a clue of how I can fix this?
Might actually have solved it myself, removed the service from msconfig and in services.msc, will check if it works.
Okay what i wanted was performance logs & alerts off , Sorry!
I was wondering if anyone knew about a free alternative to HP wireless assistant's Bluetooth controll pannel.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer has given me that dang error that one of my USB port isn't recognized. I have tried all the fix options even called HP who told me that the circuits are dead (he didn't check anything as my printer is 4.5 years old) and offered to sell me a new model with a huge discount that was the exact price on their website. Anyway, my last option before buying a new printer is uninstalling and reinstaling my usb port. How do I know which port is which? Can it be the one called 'unknown port"?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy computer had been shut down for a few days. When I came back and booted back up, I noticed that AVG was no longer running. I couldn't seem to get it to start, so I tried uninstalling it since I had the 2012 version anyway, so I could update to 2013 and hopefully fix the problem. Every time I try to uninstall, I get a BSOD. Every time I try to install the new version, I also get a BSOD.
I haven't installed anything new or added new hardware, so the only thing I can think of is the latest AVG update did something. The last new program I installed was Guild Wars 2, but that was weeks ago (with no issues). At first I thought maybe this was a virus, but it looks like this is a common issue? Files attached.
