I read where I could go into the registry and change it there but I am not comfortable with tapering with the registry. With XP, I could change it very easily.As a side note, presently in Windows 7, when I save text in Wordpad, I normally chose a simple, plain text 'save as' only but it saves my work in the fanciest rich text format with full headers? Have saved tries in the other Wordpad choices but I always get the fanciest text format. I bring up simple Notepad and save my work. It's not blurry in any other applications that I've come across yet. I've gone through the personalisation thing in Control Panel with the Display settings, and got to the point where now only select applications and icons are blurry, is there a way to fix this in these applications?

I recently had to reinstall windows 7 on my laptop as it randomly decided not to boot up. I had a backup of my files saved onto a partition on my laptop but it won't let me restore them for some reason.
I can access the partition from the computer tab and I see the backup there. When I click on it it asks me if I want to 'restore files from this backup', but when accept there are no backups listed.
I originally tried to repair my windows 7 when I had to reinstall it but it came up with a message saying that there were no backups to restore!
I have, today, installed Win 7 on a new computer. I have been using XP until now. I have googled and searched through the forum for an answer to this problem but can't find anything. Either I am the only one that has it, or I am the only one that it bothers
Scenario:
I have a folder with 200 audio files of various formats. I want to select only the .OGG files whose filenames start with "A".
On XP:
I would sort by filename, select all the "A" files, re-sort by file type, using CTRL and the mouse, I would then deselect non-OGG files.
When I try this on Win 7 my selections are cleared when I re-sort.s there a setting somewhere that I need to change?
I recently have been trying to set up some default programs for certain file types to open in. When I try to choose a program in the 'Open with...' dialogue box, I am unable to select a new program from the default list. The program I need isn't in that list, but I can't add to the list or choose a different program when I choose to browse for a new program.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
I have a project where I need to search a large amount of text files on my home PC. I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. My research indicated this feature was available in Windows 7.
If you do a search in Windows XP, you get a bunch of fields. You can pick to search for text INSIDE the particular sub folder structure.
I have found this feature in Windows 7, but it is different. I have tried using wild cards but it does not seem to work properly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAll of the sudden, when I want to copy and paste something in the same document, the formatted text (whether that be a certain font or bold) does not transfer over to the pasted text. For instance, if I wanted to copy the following bolded word word and then paste it anywhere else in the document, I now get this: word (without the bold). This applies to other cutting and pasting problems: this applies to other fonts and formatting (bold, my Greek font, etc).One more example: before today, if I wanted to cut a text out of my New Testament Greek program right in the middle of a paragraph, the Greek font (or whatever font) would paste normally no matter what font the target MS Word text was in.

- open WordPad for typing a quick text, or pasting something
- CTRL+A to Select All
- Drag the selection to the Desktop, creating a 'Scrap', a 'torn-text-icon' for instant access, opening with WordPad (IMHO, better than QuickNotes, for the text could have any lenght, keeping the formating, but still just an icon on the desktop)
In Windows 7, WordPad was revamped, 'New & Improved', with more MS-Word-like features; but...
- Scraps are no longer supported with WordPad
My WinXP partition is still accessed thru Windows 7 Windows Explorer ('Documents and SettingsUserDesktop'), but the scraps '*.shs' files are also no longer supported by Windows 7, unable to be opened.
At least drag-n-drop the browser URL icon to the desktop is still supported (pages I don't want to bookmark, just save to read then latter).
I have problems, I have docx file format but when I click open it, it open with WordPad format.
