Broadband connection ethernet - Yacom.I installed the Firefox on 30.9.2011 I installed the latest AVG 2012 on 10.10. 2011 I am not sure if it is because of or coincidently, but my internet browsing has been seriously affected. This has been happening for a few (? 3,4 )days, but has worsened since the installation of the new AVG.Where I would previously have put a subject into the browser, and the page appeared with a choice of links, a click on one of them would have immediately taken me to that link. Now, I have to wait for sometimes 25 to 30 seconds to get to the link and even not be allowed to go to the link - it won't open.I have deleted and re-installed my Firefox and my AVG, but this still happens. My security scans are done weekly with each programme but on different days - no two scans are done on the same day. At present, there is nothing untoward evident in my computer, an AVG scan was done last evening - 10.10.2011 only cookies were detected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed a graphics software in XP mode. The software works normally but when I open a file of this software on my machine (PC1) The software crashes and the opening of the work done on this software is too slow, but if I get a job done but in the same software that is stored on another computer network software is not slow.
I did a test on another computer (PC2) and when I get work on the network (eg in the PC1), there is slow but when I open a saved work on the same computer (PC2) software is too slow. Does anybody know why this happens? I think it should be something related to XP mode, because it happens in 2 PCs
I recently installed Windows 7 on my wife's Samsung laptop (originally supplied with Vista) and generally the upgrade has been a great success. However, one constant complaint I get is that video files attached to emails are now very slow to open, whereas previously they had opened and played with no problem at all.
if so where should I look for an indication that I need to update.
I am running win 7 64 bit but have an error with PCI and Raid controllers, My motherboard is K8V-DX and it seems that ASUS never got round to providung drivers for Win 7. I can see that they did suport Win 2003. Should i risk installing these.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever I tried to safely remove my USB from my laptop by Left-Clicking on the USB icon, it just takes such a long time for the menu to appear when I'm trying to remove my USB. How come it's like this? In Windows XP, it just appears as soon as you left click on the USB Icon, but Windows 7 just takes such amount of time. I was wondering if there's some way to fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just got a brand new laptop (Sony Vaio). I'm trying to connect to the internet through my existing home wireless network which a Macbook, Macbook Air, Toshiba Windows 7 laptop and iMac in the house can all connect to and access no problems.I've got an ADSL modem set up in bridge mode and an Airport Extreme as router and wireless access point.I can connect to the router fine. I am assigned an IP address fine. When I open a browser window the internet is very slow or times out. When I ping the router it usually times out or I get a very high ping.I've tried so many things to fix it I'm getting desperate! including:
-Disabled and uninstalled firewall and security software
-Changed wireless channels
-Disabled Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
-Setup a static ip and specified dns server
Sometimes if I open a file by double clicking it in windows explorer, it will sit doing nothing (and that explorer window is then tied up) for a few minutes! Then the file opens normally in the correct application. But opening the application first, and getting it from the file open menu, or dragging the file into the open application is ok. The problem goes away if I reboot windows, but can come back again later for no apparent reason.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of the features I used a lot in WinXP was:
- open WordPad for typing a quick text, or pasting something
- CTRL+A to Select All
- Drag the selection to the Desktop, creating a 'Scrap', a 'torn-text-icon' for instant access, opening with WordPad (IMHO, better than QuickNotes, for the text could have any lenght, keeping the formating, but still just an icon on the desktop)
In Windows 7, WordPad was revamped, 'New & Improved', with more MS-Word-like features; but...
- Scraps are no longer supported with WordPad
My WinXP partition is still accessed thru Windows 7 Windows Explorer ('Documents and SettingsUserDesktop'), but the scraps '*.shs' files are also no longer supported by Windows 7, unable to be opened.
At least drag-n-drop the browser URL icon to the desktop is still supported (pages I don't want to bookmark, just save to read then latter).
After my daughter was using note pad, all icons on my laptop got replaced with wordpad icon and when you click on any of them they just show text describing program that it used to represent. Is there a way to turn it back to normal icons?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use wordpad 10+ times a day and what really bugs me (and I betI'm not alone) is having to everytime click twice the line spacingmenu to get things 'as they should be'.So, there is the trick to make an .rtf file with, say, one space, save it somewhere with all the formattings the way you likethem and then make a shortcut for it and just replace thewordpad-shortcut you've used so far wih that.BUT, I'm just geeky curious if someone really knows away to set the default some otherway.. So that I evenwouldn't have to delete that single space in the 'template'.rtf file

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought this Fujitsu laptop for less than a year. Its only for my school work. It takes forever to bootup, startup and it sometime hangs when I open up a program or typing. For the bootup, it takes very long time on the window logo, after that the black screen, followed by the welcome page with the loading cursor. Each of this process take a long time. For startup, its not so long but its still quite lag. For the opening up of program and typing, everytime I open up my visual studio, it will take a long time to show up and even if it showed up, it will be "not responding".So I will have to open it a second time before I can start using itWhen I am typing my codes, it will randomly hang and show that the program is not responding. I am still able to move my cursor though.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.
