I recently installed Windows 7 on my wife's Samsung laptop (originally supplied with Vista) and generally the upgrade has been a great success. However, one constant complaint I get is that video files attached to emails are now very slow to open, whereas previously they had opened and played with no problem at all.
if so where should I look for an indication that I need to update.
Would a lot of kmz files slow down my pc. Videos are very slow to open now.If not what else might I check. When I go to a website, click on a video it takes forever to load (buffer?)

Are there any special settings to help this out. Also I can take my old laptop that has only 1gb of memory and an old processor and it does well, so I know it is not my internet connection or router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am completely stumped as to why videos tend to lag & freeze my screen for 10 second intervals, aswell as cause my browser to freeze with a busy icon. I've tried everything I know to do with no progress. I've tried numerous different browsers with no luck, scanning for all bugs.as well as disabling firewalls, cycling my router/modem & making sure all of my drivers are up to date. My computer should handle everything just fine.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am currently living in a dormitory in germany. i was given a cord to connect to the lan on the wall, as there is no free wi-fi in this dormitory. a few days ago, Internet videos and other videos played just fine, as usual. now, however, it takes 30 minutes to load 5 minutes of a Internet video. i'm not exaggerating. anything i can do? i'm wondering if it's just because there are more people in my dorm now or if i did something to my computer (which is probably unlikely since i know nothing about computers).

However, I have just installed a clean activated real copy of windows 7 home premium and when I enter the menus of Media Center. Pictures, Videos the blue "thinking" ring scrolls for 10 seconds and then enters the next menu with the Folder being displayed. In the music section, I have 2 test folders in there and it waits for 8 seconds after you press play a song! Recorded tv and guide work great. Indexing was also completed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThey were working then I rebooted the pc today and went to click on computer and nothing happens, the only thing is the little folder icon comes on the taskbar and that's it, it doesn't open.Also all of a sudden my events viewer doesn't work either, get this error, specified query is invalid 15001BTW system restore wasn't on, I guess when I fixed my booting problem it turned it off, the only drives that had restore enabled where my other 2 drives not the one I needed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes if I open a file by double clicking it in windows explorer, it will sit doing nothing (and that explorer window is then tied up) for a few minutes! Then the file opens normally in the correct application. But opening the application first, and getting it from the file open menu, or dragging the file into the open application is ok. The problem goes away if I reboot windows, but can come back again later for no apparent reason.

At present, there is nothing untoward evident in my computer, an AVG scan was done last evening - 10.10.2011 only cookies were detected.

The software works normally but when I open a file of this software on my machine (PC1) The software crashes and the opening of the work done on this software is too slow, but if I get a job done but in the same software that is stored on another computer network software is not slow.

I can't get sound from any of the web pages I've visited. I tried to install a codec package, and it won't allow me. I am the sole user of the computer, I'm running W7 64bit with a X-Fi soundcard. All other sound works fine and it is hooked up via spdif optical link to a seperate surround sound system.
Therefore, My first question, How do I get the sound to work?
2nd question, even if is or isn't the codec issue, why won't windows update the registry with the codec installation package (1402 error). I am the administrator!
The probelm only happend on 1 Windows 7 PC, suddenly the PC slow to open some network printer properties that also makes slow to print.
1. On the PC nstalled 3 Network printer A,B,C open B properties is normal fast, but slow to open A,C.

I am assigned an IP address fine. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.
