Cannot Select New Text File From Right Click Menu?
Apr 22, 2011
Whenever I make a new text file by right clicking and selecting new text file, it says it is corrupt, but when I do it by opening notepad and selecting save as.. it works ok.
I have Folder Options "Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)" is engaged but Start menu All Programs list is failing to accord - selecting on hover and opening on single click.
everytime i right click on a file my windows explorer is stopped working. With some files it works but 9/10 not.
I have already tried: -deleted .reg files. -disable enable context files with autoruns or shellexview -replace explorer.exe -replace shell32.dll -deleted broken .reg files with Ccleaner.exe
Running Windows 7 Pro X64.When I right-click a file or folder and select the "Show Versions" option nothing happens.I have to click "Restore previous versions" to get a list. What is the point of the "Show Versions" option?
How do I get emails to single click to select and double click to open? All appropriate boxes in folder for this sequence are checked to no avail. Toshiba L745-S4310

After having my hard drive formatted and Windows 7 reinstalled I now find I am unable to select text in WordPad and Notepad.Theres no problem with Word 2010.Computer informationOS: Window 7rocessor: Intel Core i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93GHz 2.93 GHzInstalled memory: 4.00 GBSystem type: 64-bit Operating System
I have no idea why but in some applications like Chrome, Audacity and Installer wizards, the text is blurry. It's not blurry in any other applications that I've come across yet. I've gone through the personalisation thing in Control Panel with the Display settings, and got to the point where now only select applications and icons are blurry, is there a way to fix this in these applications?
Blurry text and icons in Audacity: Blurry icons in Paint: Blurry installer wizard text:
I have windows 7 home premium. If I click on the start then select my user name there are several folders there.Five of them are empty.1563.temp3927.temp3616.temp8201.temp3878.tempWhen I select one of these there is nothing there ''Blank''
So - a problem that I came across in a co-workers Outlook 2003 today was that when they receive an email with 2 (or more) attachments they are unable to Ctrl or Shift select them, right click and send them to print. Now, I find this odd as this was a function available in office 2000 and is available in 2007 and 2010.
I have Windows 7 on my primary drive and XP on my secondary drive. I still use XP as I'm in the process of transferring all my program install files etc to an external USB then I will put them on windows 7. I was able to manually select which OS I wanted the system to boot into by simply pressing ESC button during POST and then the boot menu would come up. Press your down arrow on keyboard and then you boot into XP no problem.
It is worth mentioning since that I actually went into BIOS and enabled "smart boot" which brought that menu up automatically so I no longer had to press ESC. So, I go to boot into XP today (more files to backup etc) and keyboard is not doing anything. It boots into Windows 7. Now, I wanted it to boot XP as this is secondary and what I do notice is that when I press arrow down (to get to secondary hard drive line) the screen flashes like its registering an input, but, does nothing.
I even disabled smart boot option just to be sure and even borrowed a mates wired keyboard. Windows 7 installed it no trouble and I tried to boot XP with the wired one (my keyboard is wireless but it does work as I can get into BIOS) and even that failed. That then tells me that it is not hardware related and both keyboards work and let me access the boot menu. Why then is the boot menu locked? Don't want to have to keep swapping master and slave channels everytime I boot just to get into XP.
I recently installed Windows 7 on my other computer, and I thought everything was going well. Well then I restarted after the installation only to find that it hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool Data". Then, when I restart again and select boot menu, it asks for a password, which I don't have because I didn't set one yet. Could anyone help me on this issue?
I seem to be unable to click any menu boxes (such as enter world, etc etc) inside of games when I am using directx 11, however the scroll wheel works. I am not sure if the mouse is the problem, but after scouring the web I can find no explanation as to why this might be, wondering if anyone can shed some light.
it is a dynex wireless usb mouse. I am running windows 7 ultimate x64 sp1
I currently have an issue with my PC where all the text under desktop icons and dialogue boxes is missing, and instead there is a mumbo jumbo of lines and misshapen boxes in control panel, so its impossible for me to try and do anything. I tried doing /sfc scannow in a cmd prompt, but it told me I do not have administrative privileges when I was logged in on my admin account. This happened after I had to boot into safe mode when some windows updates were installed previously. After they were removed, the BSOD remained, but I managed to log on by using 'Boot using last known good configuration'. I have also tried using a system restore point to before the updates were installed but to no avail. Start up repair also drew a blank and I can't think of anything else to do.
I've already picked the smallest icons for the start menuIs it possible to make the start menu text smaller too?I have a 1366x768 screen, and would like to fit more pinned apps to the start menu by shrinking the text
the new text document is missing when I right click on the desktop. I've read all the relevant posts here in this forum and downloaded many .reg files but none of them works. The shellnew key exists and everything else looks good but the new text document option is just missing!
my Windows 7 machine is acting strangely, here are my symptoms:personalization missing from login box desktop icons have no text beneath them, some apps won't start text in menus has disappeared dialog boxes have no text can't access start menu, therefore unable to run cmd as admin screenshot similar to mine except my start menu doesn't come up I've run sfc /scannow, it says no problems found.I do have Vista on a separate partition that I can boot from. Is there something I can do from Vista to repair Windows 7?

New OS Windows 7/64bit . The text/icons/start menu stretched so much, cannot get to start menu with ease on taskbar and cannot read beginning or end of text within home page or web-sites.
- I uninstalled IE9, then after restart, I can no longer see text in warning messages, windows titles, taskbar clock, or even icon names, something like that but without start menu even showing:
- I have tried all of these and still having the problem:
1- Rebooting 2- Scanning for viruses 3- Running SFC /scannow tool 4- Updating/re-installing graphics card driver 5- Windows repair from disk
- When I tried to setup a new copy of windows, I could not because it does not show me the message of "Press any key to continue" but only a blinking white dash then goes to start windows on hard drive. AND YES !, I set the boot to CD drive.
When ever I'm on my computer, whether I'm browsing the web or typing a document or watching a movie, the right click menu randomly pops up, hindering what ever I am trying to do. Some times when typing it will pop up i escape out then go on to continue writing but it just comes back! It's extremely annoying and i can figure out what is causing it. I'm currently using a desktop machine with Windows 7 home premium 62 bit, and i have tried more than once unplugging my mouse and plugging it back in. I even swapped it out with a new mouse nothing changed!
Is there anyway, in windows 7, to change the right click menu order / placement of the 'Delete' and 'Rename' entries? I am forever trying to rename files and hitting delete by mistake, so I would like to place 'delete' at the bottom of the menu or at least put some space between them.
When I right-click on certain things (in this case, all types of files), some of the entries in the right-click menu are shorter than the others, and stick out of place. One of them is my Bluetooth "Send to Bluetooth Device" entry, which looks to be about 4 pixels shorter, and really does stick out like a sore thumb.
[CODE]When Im in network connections and I right click either my lan or wireless connection the context menu appears but there is no writing in it. Same things happens in safe mode. Also when Im in the network and sharing centre and click on the wirless connection the window flashes up but then immediately disappears.Anyone got any ideas to fix it?Ive included a picture to illustrate if what i said doesnt make senseThis only happens in the network connections window - all other right click context menus are fine
A few minutes ago I highlighted a URL, right clicked in order to copy and the right click context menu did not open.
Unfortunately one cannot use Edit/Copy in the command bar for a URL.
I then attempted to copy random text from a web page and again no right click context menu. I was able to copy the text using Edit/Copy. I can also use Edit/Copy in notepad.
I also discovered that I have no right click context menu at all. I tried right clicking on the taskbar, the desktop, desktop icons, and in an empty space in my top command bars. Next I tried to copy the URL using SeaMonkey. Didn't work.
It worked earlier today. I have made no changes to anything that would cause this to happen. I really need the context menu. How do I get it back?
edit to add: I uninstalled the software for my mouse, reinstalled, didn't cure the problem. I did a google search and found an article by Microsoft which I followed but did not resolve the issue.
The red x icon for the close window option is cut off. Using stock skin. Probably easier to understand if you see a pic, What's caused this and how can I fix it?
I just noticed for the first time after 2+ years of using Windows 7.I have all sorts of shortcuts I use that are just stuck in my memory from older versions of Win. Right click + W + F = new folder.Right click + W + T = new text doc.I just noticed however, that in the right click menu, the shortcut letters aren't underlined anymore like they were in older versions.for example, New used to be written New. For me this is not a huge deal since I already know most of them but why would MS intentionally remove a helpful feature like that (especially while leaving the functionality in)? A new user will have no way of knowing that shortcut exists without seeing the underlined letters. The only reason I'm noticing now, after so long, is because I'm learning Ubuntu/Linux and noticed they do have the underlined letters in their GUI, and then coming back to Win I noticed they don't.
