View 1 RepliesI have read several posts about issues with this already.I had an ECS P4M800 Pro-M V 2.0 with a Pentium 4 2.88. I had a primary and secondary hard drive as well as a DVD RW on it. My brother-in-law originally build the computer some years ago. I got the dreaded call the other day, "Honey, the computer won't turn on."DOA, fried MOBO. I ordered a Biostar A880 G + MOBO with integrated graphics, audio and LAN cards. Popped in an AMD Athlon 2 X 3 3.3G and two DDR 3 2G Ram sticks.Fired that puppy up on my old hard drive. It ran through some system checks, and nada. I keep getting back to nothing.I had a system backup set up to run, but the destination drive ended up being full, (without my realizing it) and now I'm up shit creek becuase the drive won't boot. I've got some important business stuff on that drive, which I know I can recover, but I would just like it to get up and run.

This is NOT a problem with setting the icon size or themes.Minimum icon size is 16, which on Medium is larger then Classic at 32 (default). It's NOT a problem with any 3rd party programs or services.I've tested with a selective startup disabling all non-Microsoft services and startup programs. Neither is it a malware or virus issue.I've explored this to no end. I've tried "sfc /scannow" to locate any altered/corrupt/missing system files as well, all are accounted for and working properly.I need to locate the exact location for this particular setting (View: Large/Medium/Classic) and find out why it will not save appropriately. I've been to so many forums with so many different fixes and none of them work. I believe I've covered all methods I've attempted but I might have missed one. I rarely have need to ask on forums, but I've exhausted my search abilities to no avail.
I am currently having a problem playing 4:3 game with no wide screen support on my 1440x900 (16:10) monitor. What I mean is that when I play it full screened, the game is stretched.
This was funny because It used to add the black bars for me on the sides to keep the 4:3 (800x600) ratio. But then disappeared after I decided to update my graphics card's drivers (Nvidia 9600 GT). I searched everywhere constantly over the net and this forums using the search for a solution but it only seems like people want to remove the black bars, I WANT them.
There are some solutions saying that I should check the "Maintain aspect ratio" selection in the Nvidia control panel, but because I don't have the "Flat Panel Display Monitor" option in my control panel (seen below), I cannot access it.

How to extract from rar and maintain original folder dates? have a memory stick which I need to copy to other USB stick with original folder creation dates. I have created a rar from original USB stick with original folder dates but when trying to unrar, there always folder date is changed to present one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 720p resolution video file in HD specs. I converted it from mkv --> avi with a special program to keep its subtitles and HD specs. However, I want to burn it onto a DVD WITH a DVD menu. The only problem is that everytime I want to do so, the programs that I tried forces me to dumb down the quality to 480p. Is there a simple solution that is not too complicated for me to keep the HD resolution? By DVD , I mean like burn as DVD so I can watch it on a DVD player that is for TVs.

I had a terrible virus, so had to format and install another windows 7.
I noticed the graphics driver is a bit different, and now when i select 'maintain aspect ratio', it makes no diffference whatsoever. how to actually get full screen again?
I have a few portable programs on my computer. How do I update them without losing any settings etc. that I have changed? Do I move ".ini files" and/or ".cfg files" and/or "whatever" out of the old version of the program and into the new?

I can't seem to be able to achieve it.In XP it was just a case of setting the view to details and then choosing folder options on the menu bar and pressing the apply to all folders button. And windows explorer wouuld display all the files and folders in the "details" view.I can't seem to do this in Windows 7.

Sometimes (I guess when the dir contains e.g. videos *.avi) additional columns where automatically shown, the column order and width differs.
I don't want in any case to see a "type" and "length" columns.How can I set a details view really for all folders on my hard disc even when it contains *.avi videos or other multimedia stuff?
Just wondering if anyone has discovered a registry hack to get Windows Explorer to show file size in details view as KB, MB, GB as appropriate? FreeCommander has had this option for years.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I reformatted my computer I backed up my music onto a separate hard drive, after the format it all got put back onto my computer again but after the move some music files refuse to accept changes to their file details i.e. changes to genre, track title, album artist etc. I have full permissions to modify files and it will allow me to make changes either in WMP or in file properties, but as soon as I set the new details it will snap back to the previous version like I'd never touched them.

Why does Microsoft say in their license terms that you can't use an OEM license for personal use, but they sell it through third parties (Amazon and Newegg) and they know that ordinary people are going to buy these OEM copies. If Windows Activation goes through with it then it must be fine, right?Also, I kind of mentioned this already, but why would they sell it through third parties if they CLEARLY know that any average personcould come across it and buy it. It doesn't say anywhere on Amazon's product description page that I have to sell it to a third party.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to change some (but not all) music file details even when I have the ownership. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have done all the usual stuff. Right clicked on Properties, gone into Security, checked I have Full control. I have then gone into Advanced and changed the ownership to myself and still nothing. The only thing I think is strange is that there seems to be several entries in the Security tab on properties, and for that matter in the Advanced bit, of users/groups with similar titles all connected with me. For example 'steve (steve-PCsteve)', which is the one I usually use for ownership.
Also 'Administrator (steve-PCAdministrators)', which has ownership of a few files. Last is 'Users (steve-PCUsers)'. The is also 'Authenticated users', 'SYSTEM' and on one file I found 'WMPNetworkSvc'. All of these are usually listed on the Security tab and usually in the Advanced section. I have managed to change some music files to my ownership and change the details but not all. I have all my music on an external hard drive and on my C drive. Don't want to loose such a briliant collection now do I.
I recently built a new gaming computer. It runs everything smoothly, but there is one glaring problem that I cannot seem to shake. My computer will at unpredictable times halt everything (freeze) for 1-3 seconds and then resume. During this time, all sound seems to be directed to a different audio port. It seemed to start with my audio. I would plug in speakers, and then I would plug in a 3.5mm headset and it would intermittently (and rapidly) detect the headset. Looking at my realtek audio software, the input that the headset was plugged into would rapidly turn on and off. Plugged speakers into that port and it worked with no problems. The headset is not to blame because I used it with no problem on my laptop. I then suspected it was a problem since I was doing dual audio output. I downloaded the newest drivers from the ASUS site for the realtek audio manager. My computer would still do the intermittent freezing. I have read some suggestions that it may be my memory configuration. I am a programmer and not a hardware specialist, so I am unfamiliar with how a memory configuration works and how to correct this problem. I downloaded a memory qvl update from the ASUS site, and it only seemed to bring up a console window for a split second before fading out.

When copying files in Windows 7, the box that shows the copying process has the "more details" button that shows more information. I really like to look at that info and would really like to not have to click the "more details" button for each copying process. Is there a way to tweak the registry to make the default show the more detail view instead of the less details view?

Lately I have been thinking about trying to make one of them into what I can only describe as a VPN.
