I used Steam to download New Vegas and Direct2Drive to download Oblivion. Recently, I restored my computer to a system image using an external drive and when I played both games the saves disappeared. The system image I restored to was not before I had the saves and I can still go to My Documents and view that I have the saves still on my computer but they wont load when I launch the game.

I have a little problem with my laptop here, I am using Windows 7 enterprise 64-bit and everytime I reboot, nothing saves at all. This is quite annoying since I downloaded a 14GB game and it just vanished after reboot, now I got to download it again. I know there is a way to disable this thing, but I can't figure it out

I save a new document using either Save or Save as and it reacts as normal but then is not anywhere in Documents folders. The Find function does not locate it but it is still in the recently opened files section of Word. Thta is until 4 more files are opened. I tried saving changes to existing documents which works but document does not go to today's date as formerly.

Why do files moved to an external drive not behave the same as those same files in an internal drive? I noticed that if I do anything to a file that is in an external drive, that file can not be saved under the same name (read only). In order to do so one must save it internally and then copy or move it to the external drive. So I did just that--I copied a file from taken from an external drive, saved it in the internal one and then copied it back to the external one. Now if I r-click the propeerties of these 2 same files and then go to the 'Security' tab a difference is immediately apparent: The internal one has -1- System & -2 My-computername (user-PCuser and -3- Administrators (user-PCAdministrators) with all 3 accounts allowing all (full control, read, write, etc..). While the external drive has in Properties; -1- System -2- Administrators (user-PCAdministrators) and -3- Users (user-PCUserrs) with this final 3d one (and different one) with no Allow for "full control, or modify or write. So how does one have all its files in this external drive behave and be equal to all the same files in the internal drive?Since -3- Users (user-PCUserrs) in the external drive is that which is differnt from the internal drive I was wondering if it is OK to delete this Permission or 'attribute' or whatever it is called and create instead one equal to the one in the internal drive -3- Administrators (user-PCAdministrators)? ANd of course doing so in one go and not file after file after file individually?

I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing. The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.

Is there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.

When I install a game in Windows 7 and Windows recognizes it it dumps the game's shortcut in the Game folder of the Start Menu. That wouldn't be a problem except Windows 7 prevents the game from creating the shortcuts it would have created had the operating system not been Windows 7- things like the game's Read Me, Uninstaller & Configuration options.

My computer is running windows 7 ultimate. From the last few days I have noticed that my computer does not save changes before shutdown or restart.
Take for example you have placed the recycle bin folder on top-left corner of the desktop which was earlier placed on the bottom-right corner. Then after restarting you would get the recycle bin folder again on the bottom right corner. But if you save something in the disk like a document in Documents folder, then it will still be there at the disk even after restart.

why I wouldn't be able to save a .txt or an 'all files' document in Notepad? I don't get any errors or anything, just no response when I hit the 'save' button. I'm running a Dell Inspiron laptop, about seven months old and have all the latest service packs and such.

How do I get it to appear in the My Templates folder which appears under the Office Button in the 'New' option?
When I select 'New/My Templates', the dialogue box advises that to add a template, click Save As/Trusted Templates... but Trusted Templates is not there!

the only right click option which appears is "copy" but you cannot then "paste"mthat into your Windows Exploer folders. The only work around I have found is to send the Email to my Hotmail account and then save the "attachments" (.jpg) which arrive with it for the graphics. Is there a setting/option that can be adjusted so that incoming email graphics can be saved directly( addition to right click option) to a graphics folder or even a Microsoft program like Paint, Image viewer or similar? I have a desktop (A) and a laptop (B) with W7 Home Premium 64-bit and a laptop (C) with W7 Home Premium 32-bit. I have been trying to connect all three so that I can have full control of files. For example: When I am on A I would like to access and alter files on B. When I try to save a file I have worked on, I get the message that I do not have permission or could not save file is blocked.
I have given each PC a unique user name and given each full control on the respective PCs by going to Properties > Advanced Sharing > Permissions. I have gone into Windows Firewall to allow programs to communicate and added the programs I wish to use. I have done Take Ownership.

Still very new to Windows 7 but getting to like it more each time I use it.
Now that I have a few more programmes installed, Word, CorelDRAW etc, what is the correct way to save the files? At the minute everything I save goes into one file called My Documents. Should I somehow be saving files for different programmes in different areas.
It's not to bad at the minute as I only have a few files for Word and CorelDRAW. Most of my work is still on my older XP system.
