Cannot Save Pictures From Outlook
Mar 28, 2010
the only right click option which appears is "copy" but you cannot then "paste"mthat into your Windows Exploer folders. The only work around I have found is to send the Email to my Hotmail account and then save the "attachments" (.jpg) which arrive with it for the graphics. Is there a setting/option that can be adjusted so that incoming email graphics can be saved directly( addition to right click option) to a graphics folder or even a Microsoft program like Paint, Image viewer or similar? I haven't been able to save for along time now a photo off the web . It's only giving me an option to " Save As " Bit Map or BMP . How do I resolve this problem? I had no problem in the past but all of a sudden it's only alllowing me this one.I have tried clearing /cookies/cache all the stuff others said to do and it's not working. Should I let the store where I purchased it look at it? I'm still under warrenty. I don't want to have to use Paint Shop to do each and every photo. Please help. Please do not post your @mail (that way u are helping to spread the spam), u will be automatically notified if some one post fresh line in your thread.

I'm running Outlook 2007 with Windows 7 on my Dell Vostro 220. I recently started getting the popup prompting me to save my password in outlook. This has happened before on other computers in my office and we normally fix it by changing the password. This time I've changed the passwords, tried everything listed here - [URL] and it still wont save. I am prompted for the password every time I try to run a send/receive or when any email comes in or out. At first I would just hit save two or three times and it would go away for a little while until I got another email but the the emails would be sent or received. Now I am getting incoming emails but cant send, it just keeps popping back up.

I'm using MS Outlook 2010 I have one POP-Account storing mails in local folder. And also some IMAP Mail accounts.
When I create a mail and save the draft, the draft is allways saved into the local Draft folder, and not to the coresponding (selected by senders account selection within mail) IMAP folder.

My primary user profile is corrupted and I am going to have to reinstall Windows 7. Because I cannot access my old user profile, I cannot start Outlook 2010 and access my email files. However, I have located the Outlook.pst files and have saved copies of them. What I am wondering is, once I have Outlook 2010 installed on the fresh OS install, how can I restore my email and email settings? I suspect that it is far too much to expect that I can just copy the pst files to the proper location. However, without being able to start Outlook, I can't follow the recommended procedures for backing up the mail data.

I found "Outlook 2010 setting default save location" and that worked very well!
I am looking for "Outlook 2010 setting default save format" so that when I save a mail, it does not default to .msg but rather to HTML.

I have an Excel spreadsheet that tracks document reviews. One form of evidence that a document has been reviewed is an e-mail from the reviewer (eg, "I've reviewed it and told John to make corrections as per the attached").
Aside from printing the mail to a pdf and saving it somewhere (which could involve printing each mail and attachment separately, then linking them together somehow), is there any way the mail itself can be saved in such a manner as clicking the link will open up the mail and all its attachments?

An issue with Outlook 2007 in combination with my Microsoft Exchange e-mail account was that it couldn't remember the password and I had to enter it every time I started Outlook. This was solved by adding a credential through 'control user passwords2', a workaround which can be found on several sites.
However, this doesn't seem to work anymore using Outlook 2010 with Windows 7. Or at least it seems to work different, but I can't get it to work. Outlook itself creates a generic credential in the form of MS.Outlook: USERNAME>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT, but on another website I found the form MS.Outlook:<E-MAILADDRESS>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT It also creates two Windows credentials, one with the username also as server and one with the correct exchange server, username and password. What should I add to make Outlook remember my password?
I also tried some other workarounds for previous versions of Outlook, but they all didn't work. I tried these: Stop Outlook/Outlook Express Asking For Your Password Every Time | Windows Vista | Windows Tools, Help & Guides Outlook 2007 won't save passwords in Vista...save password..

I save a lot of pictures onto my HD. I had this problem with XP as well, but am having it again with Windows 7 Pro 64. After a little while, IE will only allow me to save the files as .bmp and they lose the filename--which is replaced as "untitled".
I know this has to do with the temporary internet cache size. What do you guys keep your cache size at (the default is 50mb)?
The recommended fix is just to delete temporary internet files, but when I do this, I lose cookies and stuff and have to re-enter forum passwords.
Even if I go into IE tools and delete history---if I deselect cookies and keep the box checked for "keep cookies on favorite websites" I sometimes have to reenter passwords and usernames into forums. Also--even though I have temporary internet files deleted...they do not delete when I close IE....does this feature only pertain to the actual browsing history?
XP was to deselect the "do not save encrypted pages to disk" box. Is this safe? How can I fix this problem so I can save picture files as their original file type like .gif .jpg or whatever?

I imported my photos from my SDCard to my PC using Picasa 3, and everything was going smoothly... until I tried to take a look at the photos! all of the photos that I've imported using this method for some reason all became greyed out! Viewing them on Picasa3, all you can see is a grey rectangle, in place of the photos. However, when using the windows explorer folder, i can see that the photos were imported correctly (it's not just a grey box, but the actual photos), but when I try to open it (using any program: Paint, Picasa3, etc), it is still a grey rectangle instead of the photos. I tried to upload the image and send it via email, and I get the same result. In my mistake, I chose to "delete the uploaded photos after uploading" option..it's my vacation photos from Croatia I'm not sure if there were any errors when I imported it... i stepped out for a bit while I was waiting for it to import. I looked around my SD card, and looked at the "Lost.dir" folder, and copied all of what's in there.I did use Glarysoft to recover the images, and I'm using a Windows 7 laptop as my computer. Also, are there other alternatives? I did save the lost.dir with all of the photo files in it, both in my SD Card, and on my laptop.

I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing. The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.

Is there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.

Having successfully moved my address book (.WAB format) to w7 and converted it to .CSV format I can get as far as "Select the Contacts folder that you want to import to" as in the website [URL] but when I click "next" the box is blank where a Contacts folder should be. In outlook 2003 I have some contacts which I added manually to address book so there should be an address book of some sort.

I have over 13 years of Outlook Express folders and addresses that I desperately need to convert to Outlook 2007. I should have imported them into Outlook before I made the "Easy File Transfer" to the new Win 7 machine, but didn't know I needed to do that. Several years ago I had imported the files into Outlook, although that data did transfer it is now way out-of-date and full of duplicates. The up-to-date data is still in my old machine and also in an external hard drive backup. I have isolated the Outlook Express personal folders into .dbx format and the addresses into .wab format. Is there a way this can be reformatted into Outlook? Or is there some other way? I would probably also need to delete what is already in Outlook first, or I would have many more duplicates.

I am trying to move one pst file from one laptop which has Outlook 2010 32 bit to another laptop which has Outlook 2010 64 bit installed, steps taken 1) Copied the pst file from the User/AppData/Microsoft/Outlook folder to usb. 2) Pasted the file from usb into User/Documents folder. 3) Tried to open the file in Outlook and I get the error that Outlook encountered errors while opening the file. Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails?

I do not have the new laptop on, it is an expensive paper weight at the moment. None of my XP software works. I loaded MS XP Mode, I was able to load Office 2000, neither Outlook or outlook express work and I dispise MS Mail and all web based mail. None of my CAD programs worked in XP mode. Note: Acer does not have the hardware support. I removed MS XP Mode. Loaded VMware Player with XP Pro,loaded all my programs, copied my old HDD to new files in virtual machine. Setup Office 2000 Outlook and outlook express work perfect as does all office 2000. Cad programs work (or so I thought) I wasted 3 hours designing a generator room in one of my cad programs and all was well till I tried to create a new file on the virtual drive and was unable to. Tried to save my drawing to any file, was not allowed.
Spent the rest of the day re-drawing the generator room on old laptop. Tried all of the things on setting up networking the drives and folders, was still unable to create new file folders or save any new cad files. There is nothing wrong with this old laptop, it is just 6 years old and found a great deal on the Acer. Tried to load XP on a new HDD, that failed (somewhat) after loading and looking at the properties, many drivers were not working. It seems all MFG's are looking to MS to develop their drivers. What else can I try to get XP Mode to work like XPI can not afford to upgrade all my programs and with that, none of my old files would be usable.I use several cad programs daily at the same time as I work on several projects at the same time, plus I do all my own quotes and PO's and send to vendors, plus receive in everything. I have to be able to create new files and save everything I do where I want toThis is also the first time I have used a new OS so soon. I usually give it a few years.I went from 95 2nd Ed to XP all was smooth. Stayed away from ME and Vista like the plague

whatever i try to do on my outlook that has to do with .PST file management results in a crash where outlook quitsif i go to control panel > mail settings > data files 2 of the files that are in use (& work) do not show up, one of them the default mail delivery .PST. in these two, trying to access the advanced properties gives an error:The operation failed. An object could not be found.now - general googling tells me that recreating the profile could perhaps fix this - but i would love to avoid that as there's no manageable UI to set up the email accounts and there's many in use.event log on trying to open a pre-existing .PST that's not in the current profile:

I'm trying to retrieve archived emails that i backed up on an external hard drive from a previous computer, the files are .pst which is an outlook format but i keep on getting an error message saying the file is not an Outlook data file (.pst). i dont have any other way to retrieve these emails since they were deleted from the server and its about 1.5 years of work emails. Not sure what to do? should i move the files from the external driver to a different location on the computer and open them, or are they corrupted and need to be fixed?

I have an old XP laptop which I was using Outlook Express for one of my mail accounts (a work account). I also ran regular Outlook for another (personal). I want to have both of these accounts on my new PC.
My new PC is running Windows 7 wiht Office 2007. I used the Windows transfer cable and things worked failry well. My regular Outlook files all came over well, but nothing for Outlook Express.
I really would like to take this time to somehow export my OE files into my Outlook 2007. I would really like to keep the account which imported in on Outlook seperate.
Question 1: Is there a way to import my OE files into Outlook 2007?
Question 2: Is there a way to have two seperate email accounts in Outlook without combining them? Basically I want to have a work email and a personal and keep them seperate.
If I can't have two seperate emails with Outlook, can anyone suggest something which would allow me to export my old Outlook (the old personal emails) into another program so that I can at least use my work email on Outlook 2007?
