View 1 RepliesI have a hard-disk of 250gb with load of nearly 200gb. Unfortunately there is no backup and the hard-disk not detected in another computer, means possibly damaged. Is there any process to save some or entire data from the hard-disk. It consists of some important data.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a message about errors when I plugged in my WD external hard drive. I let the Error Checking run and when it finished it said I needed to format the disk. I cancelled this and looked in my computer and although the drive appeared, no details (i.e. space usage) was present.
I re-ran Error Checking with "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" checked. After running this the drive appeared properly in My Computer.
However there are many files missing, and the space usage of what is there doesn't match up with what my computer says.
Files I can physically see: ~ 120 Gb. Space usage according to Explorer: ~420 Gb. So it looks like tha data may still be there but Windows can't see it? Edit: BTW, forgot to say, all this is booted into Windows 7 not XP on my dual boot system.
my laptop has gone out of order, however,I have got a new one and I want to transfer the data from the old one to te new one. Please note that the old one doesn't start up at all.

However i now have 2 PCs that need backup performed and they just want the data so an image is not necessary thus i only want the important data ie; documents and settings important files no junk such as updates or temp files
I would prefer to remove the hard drives and plug it into another pc to perform the backup instead of doing the back up from the actual machine

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2TB hard drive which i have partitioned into 3 partitions, (249GB for C:, 1000GB for D: data, 613GB for E: data). Now the 1000GB partition which is filled with data has disappeared from My computer. It happened after installing a dual boot with linux and using the 613GB as unallocated space for the linux partitions, (I have since removed the linux and partitions on the E: 613GB and created a ntfs primary partition again).
I have uploaded a screenshot that you can see that partition is not in my computer and in Disk management it only shows by "Disk 0" and not under volumes. I have tried using 'Diskpart' To assign a drive letter but under 'list volume' nothing appears. I have also done a a partition details which shows no volume, dont know if I am able to merge the partition in anyway or if the partition table that needs to be fixed

When I turn on my laptop it says:
"SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: TOSHIBA MK3017GAS-(PM). WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to Continue".
And then when I push F1 it just have a blank screen.
I have a Acer Laptop with windows 7 premium 64bit installed on it. Recently, when I start the laptop, it shows the error message: Smart Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: WD5000BEVT-22A0RT0-(S1)
Warning: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. Press F1 to continue.
After pressing F1, windows failed to boot and it stuck at black screen there. I decided to format the laptop.ok,this time my windows booted smoothly. But the problem is,the same warning came out once I start the laptop. After pressing F1, every thing works fine. This laptop is still under warranty period.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a program to allow my PC to read Mac formatted hard disks. However, it did not work and from then forward, my PC is unable to detect all other external hard disks, I've tried a few. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Professional 64Bit installed on a 250GB internal hard drive. I also have a 750 GB secondary drive installed in the system. When I connect an external hard drive to the computer and try to transfer some files (in this case a Windows 7 SDK DVD iso), the external hard drive self ejects and the transfer gets interrupted. The very next second the hard drive comes back on. I have made sure that it is not the external hard drive at fault as the same issue occurs with my flash drive and also my friend's external hard drive (with different files.) I usually did not care and retry it, but recently I have been loosing files when the hard drive ejects itself and it has started to get annoying. Sometimes the file just dose not transfer no matter how many times I try. All that happens is the hard drive gets disconnected and connected again till I just let it be.
