View 5 RepliesI'm reinstalling Windows 7 onto my 32GB OCZ SSD boot drive. In addition to that drive, I have a 1TB media drive and a 1TB drive that holds my user files as well as all my programs. I can't seem to figure out how to ensure that all the short cuts for the programs and data for the user file will run smoothly on the fresh install. Is there anything I should do before nuking the SSD and anything additional that I should do after the install or just treat it like a fresh SSD/HDD install but use the already existing user data? tl/dr: Reinstall windows on boot drive (SSD) and retain users folder/program files on separate HDD? edit: creating a clone image and using that won't work here, the actual OS files are bad

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I just reinstall fresh windows 7. After I install the OS, I just realize that my recycle bin is empty. Before I installed windows 7, some of my deleted files on my other hard disk is there. But now, I could not find it anymore. After that, I tried to select show hidden folder, files, and drives and unsellect hide protected operating system files on folder options. I try to browse to one of my hard disk, which has the deleted files on recycle bin before, then I found it the recycle bin icon there as well (For instance, the path of the drive is: N:$RECYCLE.BIN). I tried to look at the properties, and I found that the missing size of the deleted files was on there. The problem is I cannot access it. When I tried to open the recycle bin, it just empty. I need some help with this. How do I retrieve the files again to the OS recycle bin, not the hard disk recycle bin? Is it possible to access it again? I really need those files back.

While window black screen is running a blur box window comes up stating hard disk security in this screen it state it is locked. The only way to get out of this screen is to hit esc the only thing working is the F2 I can use this change settings what ever. However, none of the F12 recovery will complete.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2TB hard drive which i have partitioned into 3 partitions, (249GB for C:, 1000GB for D: data, 613GB for E: data). Now the 1000GB partition which is filled with data has disappeared from My computer. It happened after installing a dual boot with linux and using the 613GB as unallocated space for the linux partitions, (I have since removed the linux and partitions on the E: 613GB and created a ntfs primary partition again).
I have uploaded a screenshot that you can see that partition is not in my computer and in Disk management it only shows by "Disk 0" and not under volumes. I have tried using 'Diskpart' To assign a drive letter but under 'list volume' nothing appears. I have also done a a partition details which shows no volume, dont know if I am able to merge the partition in anyway or if the partition table that needs to be fixed

My System was working fine yesterday.I turned it off and came back today and tried turning it on.It took the System to Automatic Repair and got stuck there
- When ii restarted it. it said "Select a proper Boot Device"
- I Booted into BIOS and it stopped getting Detected
- I reseated the HDD and it was getting detected again
- I took it out and connected a friends system and checked
- It took a while to Start his OS.
- Then In Computer Management my hdd being shown as "931.2Gb Unallocated"
- How to get it Back..
- I have 6+ years photographs on it.
- But not aware which option should i use so i can recover my data back.
- It is a western Digital 1TB HDD
my external hard disk is readable by pc but its ask for format to it tell me what to do to save the data in it.

Tuneup is telling me it is being deleted but from what I found on Google tuneup does not actually delete it the only programs that have been known to delete it are CCleaner and Kaspersky and I only have Kaspersky and that only deletes the Prefetch Data when asked to which I have never done.

The HP recovery was on D: with everything else on C:I deleted the Data from the D:recovery disc as I had no more use for Vista and most of the programs that came from HP would not work with Windows 7. Is there a way to ensure that all commands in the batch file are executed even if the command prompt is closed? I don't want to have multiple different shortcuts mapped to this drive.
