Run Same Program From One Computer To Multiple Monitors?

May 22, 2012

I do currency trading from my home, and need to have a full screen dedicated to each currency I trade, each screen/currency running off the same PC at the same time. I know I can attach multiple monitors to my Windows 7 PC, but am not sure how to have the same program running simultaneously on 3 different monitors (that's the only way to get the 3 currencies to show as a full screen and have the ability to submit trade tickets independently based on respective currency). Seems as though the same image will appear on each monitor. Is this at all possible, or will I have to buy 2 additional PCs to put Monitors 2 and 3 on to accomplish this?

Multiple Monitors - Program Expands To Next Monitor

Dec 30, 2009

It seems like a few programs, such as Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 (seems to be limited to Adobe), expand past my main monitor, and reach the monitors to the left and right.

This happens when the programs are maximized.

I've included two screenshots of this issue. Notice the additional black border around the main screen (middle one).

Working With Multiple Monitors Does Not Allow Multiple Desktops

Sep 7, 2012

I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.

It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.

Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.

How To Setup Multiple (DVI / VGA) Monitors On Windows 7

Apr 19, 2012

I would like to setup 2 monitors on my computer. I know my computer is older but it is very fast and I don't plan on using the monitors on resource hogging stuff

My specs are:
Intel pentium 4 3ghz HT ENABLED
4gb ram
1tb hdd
Nvidia gt 520 1gb
windows 7
My monitors are 2 different inputs / outputs

If I just plugged them both in to the plugin on my gpu would it work and have to adjust stuff? I have never used dual monitors so I don't know. One monitor has a 1600x900 (I plan on this being main monitor)
Other is 1024x768. One of them is dvi and other is vga.

Multiple Monitors Detected & Utilised When Only Have 1

Jul 9, 2009

I have a new machine that I have installed Windows 7 64bit (build 7100) and am having issues with the system detecting and selecting as my primary display monitors that dont exist.

I am running 2 Gigabyte GTX275s in SLI and have a Samsung 2443BW LCD via a single DVI cable. Nothing is plugged into the other connectors.

I wouldn't usually care if there were other disconnected displays being detected but my problem is it seems to randomly detect a range of monitors at each startup and pick one to be the primary display leaving my monitor blank. The screen will flash 3 or 4 times making the windows sound when you connect new hardware.

I have tried another monitor and get the same result. It is quite frustrating when you have to reboot the system often 3 times before you can get a desktop (an extended one still) so you can get to the display properties and make corrections that dont seem to last after a reboot. I have tried both the 186.18 and 190.15 Nvidia drivers.

Sometimes even into either the change the screen resolution or nvidia control panel will sometimes cause it to refresh all the monitors it detects and i can be left with a blank screen.

I hope I have given enough detail for someone to be able to assist.

BFME2 - Inability To Scroll Due To Multiple Monitors

Sep 27, 2012

So I recently found my copy of Battle for Middle Earth 2, and decided to give it a whirl for nostalgia's sake. Only, the moment I get into a game, I'm met with a glaring issue - I cannot scroll across the map in one direction, because my mouse simply moves onto the other monitor.

So, what I have tried, is fiddling with the resolution settings on the game itself - no change. I don't have the option to run it in a window, or move it to my other monitor to see if it persists there. how I might be able to fix this, short of just disabling the other monitor during gameplay?

Multiple Monitors, Playing Games And Watching Videos

Oct 6, 2009

Just installed Windows 7. and everytime i start up a game (like left 4 dead)

all screens go black(like when they do when you set a other resolution) and back to normal resolution. when game resolution isn't different from the desktop resolution. and cause i ussually have a series running on one of my other monitors i can't see them cause well desktop thinks it not on its desktop resolution(or for what ever other reason it is that video won't show on second monitor if there is a game up on your main monitor that is not on ur normal desktop resolution).

this doesn't happen with every game though and can't really figure it out. if u need any info, or have no idea what i'm talking about(don't really know how to explain this very wel) post for more details.

Multiple Video Cards - Monitors Not Retaining Settings

Nov 14, 2009

3 Viewsonic 22" monitors and one Dell 24 inch monitor all running DVI cables.

I have three of the video cards in the computer to run multiple monitors. Windows 7 has a feature where when you plug in a monitor, it auto detects it and then enables it and sets its proper screen resolution. The problem is that when I plug in more than one monitor, I get inconsistent results.

Here are some examples:

Example 1 that happens: I have two monitors plugged in and I plug in a third monitor. It enables it within Windows 7, but the monitor does not actually turn on. If I restart the computer, somtimes it will stay enabled and boot up with all three monitors on.

sometimes when I reboot it, it again shows all three enabled but only two are actually on. This happens also when I plug a fourth or fifth monitor on. Sometimes two or three monitors will be on whereas one or two others will not be on but will show enabled in display properties.

Example 2 that happens: Sometimes when I plug in a second, third, or fouth monitor, it will actually show an additional monitor as disabled. For example, if I have three monitors plugged in and it shows three monitors enabled (regardless if all three are on and working), and I plug a fourth monitor in, then it enables the fourth monitor, sometimes it turns on, sometimes it doesnt, and it also shows a "generic non-pnp monitor" as number FIVE.

Even though only four displays are plugged in. I've seen this happen even if I plug in a third monitor (shows four, with 3 or number 4 disabled). If I try to enable that FIFTH "ghost" monitor, and click apply, it says "cannot save settings." You can see an example of this as an attachment.

When I plugged in another monitor, it shrunk 2 and there is also a 5 the same size but disabled. Strangely enough, the 2 says the pnp monitor and 5 says the model number of the monitor. However, enabling 5 does not actually enable it and says that it cannot save settings.

I have tried downloading the latest drivers from ATI 9-10 as well as Catalyst Control Center as well as Hydravision from ATI and also Ultramon multiple monitor software. I have tried deleting the ATI 3600 drivers WDDM 1.0 (maybe 1.1) from device manager, only to reboot and then it installed the drivers, reboot again and it brings back all of the whacky settings.

I have a couple of times got all four monitors enabled and all four monitors on where the cursor moves across them properly. EXACTLY what I want to have happen. If I restart it almost always comes back on as EXAMPLE 1 where only two of the four monitors will turn on, but it shows them enabled in display properties, or if all four monitors do come back on, they are not in the same order that I had them in and it actually shows FIVE in display properties.

To make this all even stranger, believe it or not, i've even had it boot and one of the monitors is BLACK & WHITE. What is so strange about this is that the Windows 7 logo when booting, the color Windows 7 logo, is indeed COLOR on that screen, but once it is actually in Windows 7, it is BLACK & WHITE.

If I do a restart, it sometimes comes back in full color. What this means is that there is color while Windows is loading, and then once in Windows one of the monitors is BLACK & WHITE throwing out the possibility of a bad video card.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is there KNOWN issues with Windows 7 and ATI video cards or drivers? How about Windows 7 and Viewsonic or Dell monitors? This is extremely frustrating and looking for some guidance on the subject matter. I believe that the drivers, whether Windows WDDM default or ATI's are simply not correct with Windows 7. I never had this problem with Windows XP.

PLEASE See "win7_monitors.jpg" file to see what I am talking about concerning EXAMPLE 2.

Edit: I need to add that on example 1, where it shows enabled but the monitor does not come on, I have noticed that about 50% of the time when I put the Windows 7 into SLEEP mode, and take it out, the monitor(s) that were off are now on.

Pin Multiple Documents To Their Host Program On Taskbar?

Dec 15, 2011

It used to be that I could pin multiple documents to their host program on the task bar, and I could run more then just the program itself, for example with good chrome I could right click and choose to open a new window, a new incognito window and a few other options. I did some windows updates a little while back and all the other options have disappeared as well as my ability to pin files to programs. I was wondering if there was a way to get that back since it was super convenient to have. Most programs used to have many options and recent files, etc. Now this is the most I ever get for any program.

When right clicking on icon, there should be a MINIMIZE ALL choice in addition to the CLOSE ALL. Seems like a no brainer to me.

What Is Mem Use For Multiple Instances Same 32bit Program On Windows 7 64bit

Feb 17, 2011

1. If I have a primarily single threaded 32 bit application that I want to run multiple instances of on a Win 7 64 bit machine...in order to take advantage of throughput on 2xquad core cpu's

a. Will each instance of the 32 bit application be limited to 2GB of 32 bit addressable memory?
b. Will the total memory available to all of the running 32 bit applications be only 3.25GB or will a machine with say 64GB of memory parse out 32 2GB partitions to 32 unique windows of an application?

2. If the application has driver interfaces only certified in Windows XP (and not functioning in Win 7 (32 or 64 bit)), what is the impact of question 1 above on running multiple instances of the same application in XP SP3 compatibility mode (e.g. are there additional memory/graphic limits imposed)?

Computer Build Multiple BSODs?

May 24, 2011

I just built a new computer for my inlaws and had several BSODs with different bccodes (1, 1a, a). I formatted and reinstalled the OS, updates, as well as clean installs of all recent drivers downloaded from the manufacturer websites. I have had several BSODs after this and I am worried that it may be related to the memory I have installed.

I ran a full disk scan, as well as SeaTools short and long tests. These were all passed with no errors. Also, I have updated the bios to the most recent, reseated ram, unplugged/replugged all sata and power cables inside. Specs are as follows:

Multiple Simultaneous Users On One Windows 7 Computer?

Aug 3, 2011

I am thinking of upgrading our family's two computer systems, which are about 8 years old. To build/buy a decent computer will cost about $500. Could be done a bit cheaper, but then two computers will double the priceSo, I was thinking. Most modern computers have multiple output video cards. Most computers have multiple USB ports. Would it be possible to plug two keyboards, two mice, and two monitors into one computer and have two people using that computer simultaneously? This should work just fine from a hardware perspective. With USB hubs and multiple video cards, maybe 4 or more people could use the same computer simultaneously. I would like to do this on Windows 7.I come from a UNIX background and this sort of thing is done all the time on UNIX systems, either text mode or graphics mode. The available hardware is very ripe for this type of usage. Its easy to get multiple monitors and multiple keyboard/mouse connected to a computer. Even multiple sound cards. CPUs are powerful and multi-core. Memory is cheap and plentiful. I think this would be a very good use of multi-core CPU

Setup A Computer For Multiple Remote Connections?

Jul 7, 2011

We have a small business that consists of 5 owners. One owner does most of the work and has a Desktop set up in a home office. They do most of the document related work. This person needs physical control of the computer for most of the day. The other four either live in different locations. They need all the information that the main computer has throughout the day. Documents that change, New documents, and the ability to change anything in the documents and save them. The way its setup now is a remote login. This is extremely inconvenient since the main computer is basically hijacked when someone remote log ins. Each computer is obviously on a different network, so local networking wont work.

Is there a way that the main computer can be on, being worked on by the main person, but still be accessed by the other people at the same, or different, times to get the updates and new documents? Can we do this with what we have, or is there another way to do it?

We have thought of various things, like severs, remote log in programs, etc. But nothing really works the way we need. The closest one we found was an auto sync program. But it requires everyone to have all the files on their computer. This is slightly inconvenient because theres thousands of documents and things that everyone would have to load when one person may need 1-200, and the other needs 200-400.

Multiple Users On Multiple Windows 7-64bit Systems?

Feb 13, 2013

We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening. My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..
