Dec 12, 2012laptop is running win7 x 64 bit, i have one program that opens ok but closes after about 12 second, i have this same program in my XP home laptop and it runs perfectly.his is not a virus problem , i have tried ( one at a time ) a paid for version of vipre, a free version of malwarebytes and a free version of zone alarm, all with the same result.i have opened the program when i have not been connected to the internet

Dec 30, 2009I'm having a serious problem with my web browser (have tried Firefox, IE, and Chrome with same results), Windows Media Player, the video game Second Life, and Adobe Flash. Each of these programs, and so far only these programs, have an issue with frequent locking up for anywhere between thirty seconds and several minutes while I try to use them on my computer. My browser and the flash issues might be related, as the both of them seem to only happen during loading, so my browser might just be hanging as it waits for flash or something.

Dec 2, 2011ultimate is installed on my machine. everything was working perfectly including mics, speakers and rosetta stone software. then i went through the windows 7 vr training and setup and now my audio files are skipping the 1st 0.1 -2 seconds. it happens in speech recognition software. rosetta stone randomly now cuts of the beginning of every word/ phrase and the default tts message "you have selected microsoft anna (or other) as the computers default voice" skips the 1st couple of words. last time this happened i went for a full reinstall - and there is so much software on thr pc it took literally days to complete. in order to avoid that step again i would hope there is a work around for this problem. i have tried several restore function but its not fixing the problem. uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers

Jul 29, 2010I have a Windows program that is installed in the default C:Program Files (x86) folder, and of course it cannot write some of the data it needs to write to that folder. I assume that is because of the Windows 7 permissions. Is there a simple way to allow this particular program to write to its install folder despite permission restrictions? I already moved its data folder to my data partition but this is for some files that I do not have the option to move to another folder.

Sep 19, 2012I recently reformatted my hard disk and re-installed Windows 7, and when I try to edit any files in the subdirectories off any on the directories in the C:Program Files directory, I get 'protected' errors. I found that I could not create files or edit files anywhere below these directories.It turns out that everything in the Program Files folder and below is write protected. I tried changing one of the subfolder's properties and marked everything as Not Read-only, but I still couldn't create/edit files there.I was running Windows 7 before the hard disk crapped out, and I was able to modify the au3.propertied file with no problem.I know that Microsoft wants to put all data files in the C:User... directories, but the program I'm trying to change is AutoIt (SciTE), and I don't think here's a way to change the location of the properties files.I Googled in the Windows 7 support site and found a link to a video telling how to work around this. You have to change permissions of the parent folder and all files/folders below it.

I want to write to the Program Files folder on the 32 bit system from the Program Files (x86) folder on the 64 bit system. All other read/write operations between these 2 systems are succeeding. I have set up full permissions on both Program Files folders exactly as with other folders: Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing > Share this folder > Permissions > Full Control for "Everyone". I suspect UAC may be intervening. Is there any way to defeat this? My final objective is to automate synchronization between a few selected areas in these Program Files using my backup utility, SyncBackSE. It kept failing based on access denied, so I tried to drag & drop manually via windows explorer, and this is also not allowed. don't focus on questions about SyncBackSE - I am seeking help getting permission to move & change files via explorer.

Feb 25, 2012I have been using a program called Raw Therapee. I downloaded a new version and on installing it quit saying the old version must be removed. I could not find it listed in Revo Unistaller Pro, so I did a forced uninstall with the location of the main executable. This removed a lot of stuff. I checked the program folder and the folder and many files were still there, so I deleted them. I did a CCleaner in between and after. I then unhide and show system files and deleted the folders in the Appdata of main user and admin account, couldn't find it anywhere else.
CCleaner again and reboot. Went to install the new version again and it claimed that the old version was still installed. I did a search for *aw The* and found an entry in the hidden Program Data Folder. In the Admin account it will not let me in this folder to delete any remnants of the old version of Raw Therapee.

Recently something changed and now I get the UAC pop up asking if I want this program to make changes to my computer.Issue is this, I can set to record a program, but with the pop up now coming up, I have to be avaliable to click to record the progarm.Currently I have the UAC set not to ask (pop up). However I understand the reason for the UAC asking and I prefer it to ask. So what I need is a way to allow ArcSoft to run without the pop up, but all other programs to ask for security. Aug 31, 2011Running Windows 7 Pro, 64bit.We have a package of scripts and programs that comprise a custom application for OpenOffice 3.2 (do not want to upgrade OO at this point). We must support our package on Win XP, Vista and 7.A bunch of our scripts start up OpenOffice by running the command: C:Program FilesOpenOffice.org 3programsoffice.exe (with arguments).Works fine on XP. Fails on Windows 7 because the OO program installs itself into Program Files (x86). Even if I change properties of the installer file, in the Compatibility tab, to Win XP SP3, AND tell the installer to put it in C:Program Files, Windows 7 still installs it into Program Files (x86). We would LIKE to have the same script work on both flavors of Windows. I know we can modify our scripts to branch on which Windows, and choose two different paths to soffice.exe, but that's messy.I can't solve it by creating a shortcut in Program Files, to the program in Program Files (x86); that's not allowed.Is there some solution in Windows 7 to find the program no matter which place it lives? Like, a semi-intelligent environment variable for ProgramFiles that looks in one place, then the other?

Can't Run Installed Program Within Program Files
Feb 15, 2012I gave a try to the Setup Project of VStudio 2008 to create and distribute an x86 installer of a program I develop in Windows 7. After installing, uninstalling and executing over and over some of the features of my release distribution, I suppose I broke a windows registry or something related. I can't run anymore this app, whether from executing from the shortcut or directly, it just sends an error "Couldn't start the application correctly (0xe06d7363). Accept to close", there is no other option. Later I found out that moving exactly the installed content somewhere else out side the Program Files x86 dir, the application works flawlessly. Browsing, finding and deleting all references in regedit for my program didn't fix anything. I double checked my project is fine, and also created another installer version using the tool Inno setup producing exactly the same behavior; good install, error message when executing it inside the Program Files folder. Am clueless what else to do with the OS to fix this. Using CCleaner and/or my anti virus don't show any broken reference to my program, it seems clean. Can anyone help me?

Apr 15, 2012The issue here is all my programs would freeze and I was like wth is going on? So after it happened a couple of times, I finally figured out what was going on. The system was using cpu power ranging from 20 to 50 percent and my ram was using roughly 20 to 32 percent. The weird thing about this is my computer cpu usually is around 2-5 percent and ram is around 5-12 percent when doing normal day activities.I have a vortex 120 gb and I have it updated to the latest software. My hypothesis is that there is a system defragging working in the background because I see my hard drive space going up and down. It'll go down 20gb and go back up. Sometimes goes down a lot sometimes not that much.I have three programs and I've tried closing all three.
Bitdefender-no auto defrag Iobit advance system care- I turned auto defrag off but even it the settings it's already checkmark not to defrag ssd tuneuputilites- turned off auto defrag also and same thing as earlier, there's already a checkmark to not defrag ssd
edit(forgot to mention that I turned system auto defrag off also)I ran antivirus scan and malware scan already with no luck.So here's where the big mystery comes into play. Even though there is cpu usage and ram usage when I go to windows task manager, I can't find anything that shows it's using ram and cpu even though it is.Very annoying with everything freezing. Even if I restart it still continues.
