View 5 Replies View RelatedPlugged my iPhone into the computer and turned it on, I had to leave so when I came back I saw the startup repair screen. Left it on overnight and it wouldn't finish so I turned off my computer, when I turned it back on it brought me to the system recovery options screen. Tried startup repair again, this time it finished very quickly and said something like Windows is missing or it couldn't find windows. I started using the install/repair disk now because a few console commands wouldn't work without it. I remembered I accidentally installed a 32bit program in the 64bit program files the other day so I deleted the program's folder using the console, but it had no effect. I tried a few more commands and now startup repair says "bad hard disk". I tried chkdsk /r, but I get a message that reads:"The type of the file system is NTFS.Cannot lock current drive.Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected." how I can remove this write protection?

The client (the end user of the resulting image) wants to have the icon for one of the included programs included in the notification area. While this CAN be done manually, because of the required build process, I do not have the option of manually adding the program to the notification area; I will need to automate this via a script or other method.I've found VB scripts for adding ("pinning") programs to the Start Menu and Taskbar, but not for the Notification Area.DIT: To clarify further, I want to change the Behavior for this program from "Only show notifications" to "Show icon and notifications", but do so from a command line or script.

My last keyboard broke so I got a new one for like $4. It's a 104 key basic keyboard. No multimedia. Like, is it possible to change something in the registry or something so I can have like F5, F6 and F7 to control my volume? Or any other keys.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've searched around on the net for anyone else that might have this problem, but no luck. The program is a game called Shores of Hazeron, the sound works fine, apart from the fact it isn't showing up in the volume mixer, and the game doesn't have any volume controls in its in-game settings. Which can be a bit annoying when you have the rumbling of a starship in your ear when you're trying to listen to music.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got done with a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x64 onto a 64Gb SSD that has 56 free with nothing on it. I saw that my SSD had only 21 Gb free, so I looked to see what was taking up so much space. I right clicked on all of the folders and calculated myself how much space they should be taking up. I came up with approximately 23Gb that should be taken, but the disk is showing that there are 35Gb being taken. I have the "View Hidden Files and Folders" option turned on so I'm supposed to be able to see all of the folders, right? I downloaded WinDirStat and saw that two files, pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys, were taking up 8 and 6 Gigs, respectively. Is there any way to reduce or eliminate those files?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows program that is installed in the default C:Program Files (x86) folder, and of course it cannot write some of the data it needs to write to that folder. I assume that is because of the Windows 7 permissions. Is there a simple way to allow this particular program to write to its install folder despite permission restrictions? I already moved its data folder to my data partition but this is for some files that I do not have the option to move to another folder.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently reformatted my hard disk and re-installed Windows 7, and when I try to edit any files in the subdirectories off any on the directories in the C:Program Files directory, I get 'protected' errors. I found that I could not create files or edit files anywhere below these directories. It turns out that everything in the Program Files folder and below is write protected. I tried changing one of the subfolder's properties and marked everything as Not Read-only, but I still couldn't create/edit files there.I was running Windows 7 before the hard disk crapped out, and I was able to modify the au3.propertied file with no problem.I know that Microsoft wants to put all data files in the C:User... directories, but the program I'm trying to change is AutoIt (SciTE), and I don't think here's a way to change the location of the properties files.I Googled in the Windows 7 support site and found a link to a video telling how to work around this. You have to change permissions of the parent folder and all files/folders below it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my 2 PC's networked in a Homegroup. 1 is running Win 7 Home Premium 64, the other Win 7 Ultimate 32. I want to write to the Program Files folder on the 32 bit system from the Program Files (x86) folder on the 64 bit system. All other read/write operations between these 2 systems are succeeding. I have set up full permissions on both Program Files folders exactly as with other folders: Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing > Share this folder > Permissions > Full Control for "Everyone". I suspect UAC may be intervening. Is there any way to defeat this? My final objective is to automate synchronization between a few selected areas in these Program Files using my backup utility, SyncBackSE. It kept failing based on access denied, so I tried to drag & drop manually via windows explorer, and this is also not allowed. don't focus on questions about SyncBackSE - I am seeking help getting permission to move & change files via explorer.

First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)
