While this CAN be done manually, because of the required build process, I do not have the option of manually adding the program to the notification area; I will need to automate this via a script or other method.I've found VB scripts for adding ("pinning") programs to the Start Menu and Taskbar, but not for the Notification Area.DIT: To clarify further, I want to change the Behavior for this program from "Only show notifications" to "Show icon and notifications", but do so from a command line or script.

The program is a game called Shores of Hazeron, the sound works fine, apart from the fact it isn't showing up in the volume mixer, and the game doesn't have any volume controls in its in-game settings. Which can be a bit annoying when you have the rumbling of a starship in your ear when you're trying to listen to music.

May 13, 2012I just got done with a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x64 onto a 64Gb SSD that has 56 free with nothing on it. I saw that my SSD had only 21 Gb free, so I looked to see what was taking up so much space. I right clicked on all of the folders and calculated myself how much space they should be taking up. I came up with approximately 23Gb that should be taken, but the disk is showing that there are 35Gb being taken. I have the "View Hidden Files and Folders" option turned on so I'm supposed to be able to see all of the folders, right? I downloaded WinDirStat and saw that two files, pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys, were taking up 8 and 6 Gigs, respectively. Is there any way to reduce or eliminate those files?

Mar 28, 2012so i have a blue yeti, and i'm an online animator/voice actor. whenever i record audio on my blue yeti (or any other mic) i record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as i yell or whatever. this is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. however, afterwards, it means i have really quite recordings. not a problem right? now that it's recorded right, i can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? wrong. i'm not an audio expert so i must be missing something. but why in gods name would the audio distort and peak after it's recorded successfully? it's all there, it's all clean audio. if i turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds crystal clear! all i want to do is do that inside the computer so that when i upload it to Internet people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. but if i increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! it sounds awful! why?! i tried in sony acid and audacity and they both do the same thing! i can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart!

Mar 1, 2012I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.
First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

Sep 19, 2011When my computer running (Windows 7 64 bit) tries to sleep I have found that Windows cannot sleep but it freezes the computer and I get white noise from the speakers. The keyboard or mouse do not work. The only thing I can do is do a restart by pressing the restart button. It hasn't actually blue screened so there is no error report and it is hard to pin down what the error is. A restart error is given in critical errors but no more information than that. I have made sure all of my hardware drivers are completely up to date, checked power settings in the BIOS and turned off various settings in SandyBridge settings. I am at a loss as to what the problem is

May 19, 2012I put this on the wrong forum, so here it is on the correct one. Lately the Del Desktop PC with Windows 7 64 bit refuses to come out of sleep when it has been left for a period of hours. When I manually send it to sleep it does so and the mouse and keyboard are set to revive it. It revives as it should do if I move the mouse or hit a key. However whenever I leave it asleep for a long period such as several hours, it refuses to awake and I have to force a reboot with the power button. That produces the black screen which you get after a crash.

Feb 3, 2011I noticed that on Win 7 a process called consent.exe runs when i try to install any application. From the consent.exe description i understood that it is the consent UI for administrative apps and i believe it is related to the UAC since when UAC is disabled, this process does not run. Does anyone know what this exe exactly do in the background? I mean what checks does it perform? Does it connect to the internet to validate something? I have a 1.8 GB setup and it takes almost 2 mins for it to reach the UAC screen when i start installing it.
