View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently built my new rig (specs in profile). Now last night, I was running Prime95 to get an idea of my stock temps, and Core 3 failed (expected x, returned y). Fearing the worst, I reran it, and it again failed, but on a different core. Just to eliminate any RAM issues, I did a couple of passes with Memtest, and seems to be alright there.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got done with a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x64 onto a 64Gb SSD that has 56 free with nothing on it. I saw that my SSD had only 21 Gb free, so I looked to see what was taking up so much space. I right clicked on all of the folders and calculated myself how much space they should be taking up. I came up with approximately 23Gb that should be taken, but the disk is showing that there are 35Gb being taken. I have the "View Hidden Files and Folders" option turned on so I'm supposed to be able to see all of the folders, right? I downloaded WinDirStat and saw that two files, pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys, were taking up 8 and 6 Gigs, respectively. Is there any way to reduce or eliminate those files?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have spent the last couple of days playing around with my new Asus Zenbook Prime (UX31A-DB51). Being that it only has a 128 GB SSD in it, I would like to delete the 10 GB recovery partition (already made a backup ISO using Asus's included AI Recovery software) and expand my main C: partition to take back that 10 GB. There is also a 4 GB Parition on the drive, but I do not know what that is for. Listed below are the four partitions my drive is broken into and the descriptions provided for them in the Disk Management tool.
1) 200 MB - Healthy (EFI System Partition)
2) OS C: 104.92 GB NTFS - Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)
3) 4.00 GB - Healthy (Primary Partition)
4) 10.00 GB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
I have used the Disk Management tool on previous Windows 7 PCs to delete/shrink/expand partitions?what that third partition above would be for and if I can delete it to absorb into my main OS C: partition?Second, the 10.00 GB Recovery Partition does not give me the option to delete/shrink/expand the partition at all? When I right-click on the partition, all it does is popup a Help link.After loading on the essential apps for us (Photoshop Elements 10, Zune, Office Pro 2010, Microsoft Security Essentials, and a few other small apps), We are down to about 60 GB of space remaining, so if there is a way to take back that 10-14 GB, it would come in handy.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI overclocked my cpu to 3GHz along with RAM (running at 1333MHz). Did stress test for 9 and half hours and everything seems stable. Prime 95 doesn't show any errors and max temperature it reached was 48. I also did winsat mem test but max it goes was upto 5960.97MB/s (Without OC, it scores upto 4721 MB/s). I'm pretty sure my ram is capable of running higher.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to update to Skype 5.1 from 5.0. Here is what I have been through.
1.Downloaded the Skype Setup file .98 mb and ran that. Got a fatal error 1603 proceeded by error 1663. Spent a day trying to learn about that. Did not find a solution.
2. Found out that I could download a larger file "Skype SetupFull 20.1 mb. That did not work either.
3. Went to the Skype Community Forum. Would not except my email because another member was using it. Well, duh, that's me signed into my Skype account. Signed out of that account and still could not get into the forum.
5. In the meantime I restored the computer didn't fix the problems. Then I recovered an image that was made on Feb. 4. That did not help so went back to last nights image.
6. A member of Windows 7 Forum suggested the I run SPC SCANNOW and if that did not help to do a "repair install" of W7. The scan did not help. Still got the 1663 error and could not get into the Skype forum.
7. I then did a "repair install" of W7. Took ownership of the following folders all on C drive. Users, Windows, Programfiles and ProgramData.
8. Now when I run SkypeSetupFull 20.1 mb I get a box that say's "Cannot write the installation package to the disk. Be sure I have enough room on the disk".. Well, I have twice the space required. I suspect it has to do with security.

Safe mode hangs on CLASSAPP.??? i'm not sure exactly what the filename is, and any F8 otion will hang. Restore/recover will not boot up, installation USB with Win 7 install copied to it does not work, the only option I have is switching my HDD to IDE and that gives me X:\addministrator.....with a few option, none which work, it doesn't even recognize C: drive, eventhough BIOS does. I am able to get to Edit Boot Options and am wondering if there is anything I can do here to save this little netbook.

It works well but with the latest version I'm getting a strange sequence of numbers appended to my Username (as per screenshot). It's not easy to get support on the product so thought I'd try here to see if someone recognises the issue and, no, it seems to have nothing to do with the 'machine name / description' - I've changed those (and back) to test. My Windows username is 'Jem' (which I've also tried changing). The rest is self explanatory - the other two users in the shot are Vista and XP.

Every time the click the submit button on my form, live mail starts & opens a new mail window instead of sending the form contents directly to my e-mail address. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a business machine, very old. It came with Win 2000, and was leased out to business then returned for more recent models. These are eagerly snapped up, and I have had this one for a number of years. But it just keeps on going and going, and I like it very much.
I put Windows 7 on, just for the heck of it. But surprisingly it ran very well. I can't do very much as I can't find a graphics driver for it. So everything is 640x, very large. I searched all over, even went to their web site. Their graphics drivers only go up to XP, not even Vista.
Is there someone out there who can find a graphics driver that will work? I was experimenting putting Photoshop CS 2 on, and the little Compaq couldn't even load it with XP. With Windows 7, Photoshop CS4 not only was able to open but ran normally. Not slow at all. Course I didn't do anything challenging, just normal adjustments. But still I was really impressed. I just can't use this computer unless I can find a driver for the graphics so I can change the resolution. It has the integrated type.
In the act of trying to get my Velocity computer up and running (new P.S.U. and CDRom Drive) from a power spike at home I loaded 3 copies of Vista on the HD as I figgled with the BIOS boot order. To make a long story short: I was not able to get the system to boot and correctly complete the install of Vista and then Windows 7 (got a Windows upgrade disk with the machine years ago and had it, Win.7 running after the first week.). Now I have 3 incomplete installs of Vista sitting on the HD and I would like to get them off so I can make room for better things.

When you click on it up comes the window for your email (Outlook) and then it automatically sends your form to "Joe". We currently have it on our intranet for all users to be able to access. If the user has Windows 7, the form will send without outlook opening, but if you have XP, it will open up Outlook and then the user hits 'send'.
I am using Outlook 10 and windows 7, but others have XP and Outlook 7 and they do not have the same issue, only windows 7 users

View 6 Replies View RelatedIn Windows CP Display Settings (and in Nvidia CP) my left/main display is 1 and right is 2. In Windows CP Color Management the left is 2 and the right is 1. I would ignore this except that at least a couple applications now open on opposite displays. One is a monitor color calibration program (which also identifies them reversed) and the other a Raw Image Converter. And I don't trust that the calibration program loads the profiles separately.This happened after I reinstalled Nvidia video drivers trying to fix random bsod from firefox and IE8 - which seems to have worked.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 Professional yesterday and after enabling Arabic as a second language it only lets me type the characters "عربية" and not the letters "1234" I got it setup so it does allow typing of the numbers in Arabic in office as well, but if i copy it into another program such as firefox or IE, they turn back into English numbers.
