when I run the application newsid.exe. after the application process is complete I rebooted my computer. but. one irregularities. ie I can not open files that are on my documents and I can not open files on the desktop. when viewed in the documents and settings. the list grew and the user should have a user folder "user.RDM" (RDM is the name of my computer.).
after it happened I can not access the files that were old, and my computer will look like new again. please help me .. because I lack experience in this regard. please how do I get to rollback. I want my computer back before using the application.
I recently upgraded to SP1 via Windows Updates. Also, IE was upgraded from 8 to 9 around the same time. Ran a disk cleanup, and removed SP1 backup files. Tried to rollback from IE9 back to 8. IE9 is successfully removed but 8 does not come back. I cannot find a standalone installer for IE8 for Windows 7 either. An upgrade install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x32 fixes this issue, but since it is an upgrade, I can no longer sysprep. Being able to sysprep is a requirement. Therefore, I cannot do an upgrade install.
I am getting the all installed components were removed via the rollback feature while trying to download a game. I see some topics for other Windows programs such as Vista, but not for Windows 7. How can I install my games?
Went through the recommendations for upgrading to windows 7 as per instructions on CD. Anything incompatible was removed, uninstalled prior to set-up. On first run through set-up failed, BUT, this was easily rolled back. Not so easy the second time round where there was no option to roll back. On rebooting I could not access any of the software programmes on the pc. Instead I was taken straight to the command screen:
X:$WINDOWS.~BTWindowssystem32>
The only access I have to all my directories is via this screen.I did attempt to a system restore but was asked to identify which system to restore and was unable to do that as I am not very technical.I can, by hitting F8 get to the advanced boot menu, but none of the options listed there function. When selected they take me back to the command screen. If I exit the command screen the pc reboots. Is there any way I can get to restore my previous o/s Vista and then hopefully I can get to do a clean install of windows 7? it currently looks like I am running two opeating systems and windows.
I have Windows 7. My computer keeps crashing I have written down the stop codes, which are all different each time Also keep getting nv7ddmKm.sys.I have scanned the computer with Kapersky and also malwarebytes but both scans are clean.I can be doing anything on the computer when it happens but mainly it is when i am using Adobe CS5 or uploading images onto my computer from Nikon software installed on the computer.
I was just wondering if I am able to take windows home basic off a store bought computer and put it on another computer. The reason for this is I am currently building my own and want to avoid unnecessary cost. As I own a laptop that I will no longer be using and a retail copy(windows home premium). So can I take the windows off my old laptop and put it on the computer?
Very recently I started having a problem with the remote desktop where it says the following message:
"Your computer could not connect to another console session on the remote computer because you already have a console session in progress."
What I am trying to do is to access my Vista Ultimate computer using my Windows 7 Ultimate computer, and have been doing so this way for more than a year. All of a sudden I start getting the message that I have quoted. I do not know why it started doing that.As well, going in the Users tab of task manager you can see there that I am logged in as a console user.
I have a two year old Dell PC with Windows 7. I got a virus in my computer that by phone and computer takeover Norton located in my MBR. When they cleaned it my computer will no longer boot up. Norton worked with me for three days on the problem but we were unable to fix the computer. I followed other web sites and repaired my MBR but it still will not boot up. I tried System Repair, Check point, Image, and Dell system restore and all failed. I have tried to use the Windows install CD and all I get is a black screen with a flashing cursor and then after 3 minutes the compute attempts to boot again and fails. I tried everything to try and wipe the drive from C prompt and it will not let me. I have very weak computer skills but I can follow directions and I have wiped a previous computer I owned. (I confirmed that my CD drive is working) I also should mention I have a second hard drive on my computer that I backed everything up to.
Computer runs very slow. Computer freezes randomly. Does not want to boot past windows startup except for in safe mode(SOMETIMES). IF IT BOOTS takes and an incredibly long time to get to the desktop (20-45min). Does not want to run programs. Runs EXTREMELY slowly (makes a windows 95 pc look like a speed demon.) Random restarts, restart loops, and shutdowns. Sometimes after turning on it will immediately shut off then turn back on. Keeps recommending windows repair on startup. Wants to run chkdsk, then freezes on it.Malware detection programs. Hardware diagnostic programs. registry tools. disk defrags. Driver updates. Windows updates. BIOS update. System restore. Windows repair tool. Repair installation (twice). WINDOWS 7 CLEAN INSTALLATION (twice).Exactly the same as the first day it started happening. So not only did I lose all programs and files, but my pc still runs like crap. Also, this is a higher end pc under a year old. [code]
I'm fixing my sisters computer, It froze on her, when she tried to start it up again it went into some sort of system repair mode and after about 20hrs of this (no joke) it gave me the option to restore the computer to factory settings, it also gave me the option to install some sort of backup on the hard drive, however i tried this and it said there was no room on the hard drive (if i didn't know any better I'd say the problem was with the hard drive) i went ahead with the system recovery as it seemed to be the only way to fix the computer (i know i sound like an oaf) now the computer is showing me a screen which states that i need to insert my windows installation disc, however the laptop has no disc drive!

I m having 2 laptops at home, I want to create system image file of laptop1 onto laptop2. Since the data is large i cant take the hassle of creating sytem image on a DVD as it will require more DVD's to do it. So m planning to store it on Laptop2. I m thinking of connecting 2 Laptops with a LAN cable and then create the sytem image on other laptop.
my monitor exhibited signs of flickering during start-up, but only minor ones and would just stop at the 'Welcome' screen of windows so I didn't give it much thought. Iv'e been using it with the cpu the same time I bought the monitor. But after some time, the flickering got worse. It went from 1-2 second interval flickers to a whole 10 seconds of blackness before it showed anything. Now,Iv'e got a new cpu but still using the old monitor. After a day or so, the monitor exhibited the first symptoms of my first cpu, so I just dismissed it. But after a week, It got a hell worse, before I even start-up my computer, the monitor doesn't show Analog/Digital at the top-left corner of the screen. PLUS my cpu keeps restarting after I pushed the ON button after 10 seconds or so. Is the monitor responsible for the restart and what could be the reason for the flickering?

I have a 32bit comp, W7 Ult, 1TB HD and I would like to clone that onto a comp that is a 64bit. HD is the same capacity, question is, can this process be done? Will the programs from the 32bit work in the 64bit comp.? I'm thinking of using Acronis True Image Home 2011.I was given a newer desktop minus the HD and was going to retire my old desktop and I wanted what was on the old comp(32bit) transfered to the new (64bit) tower.
but i had a desktop windows 7 with some hidden files.I was getting a new laptop (macbook, to dualboot mac osx/windows 7)I got an external HDD and copied my old windows 7 files that i needed.Transfered them onto my macbook. All of my files i can access besides the ones that were "Hidden" on my old desktop.(Windows 7 desktop)I was just curious how i can have access to these files.
I purchased an HP latop right when Windows 7 was coming out and the HP laptop had Windows Vista when I bought it but I was sent a free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate by HP during the time when they were selling laptops with Vista and sending free upgrades. So what I want to know since the fan stopped working some time ago, (cooling it with a small fan from Walmart sending air around and inside it somewhat) on the HP laptop I purchased and recieved the free upgrade. If I return the HP laptop to factory settings (did a complete backup when purchased) and put Vista back on it, can I use my Windows 7 Ultimate disk in a newly purchased laptop since it will still only be on one laptop since I am returning the old one to Vista? And do I have to uninstall Windows 7 Ultimate with the Upgrade disk so it knows it's no longer on that computer. In other words are they linked by some type of serial number on my HP laptop that only allows me to install the Windows Upgrade disk on that specific machine?
Would like to get general thoughts on the best way to transfer programs from old computer to my new 8-core Windows Pro 64-bit(new install) computer. One of my areas that I'm concerned with is that several of the programs I'm wanting to transfer were purchased over the internet & downloaded with no physical media involved. Otherwise, I would just do the install via the install cd's
I've got a total of six computers on my network - 2 running Windows 7 and 4 running XP. With the exception of one computer, all of the machines see each other on the network and can share files. One XP machine does not see the shared folders of my new Win 7 machine but does list it as a "workgroup" computer. When I try to access the computer itself I am prompted for a password. Passwords are turned off on the Win 7 machine and none of the other computers on the network get prompted for passwords to access this computer. I assumed that it was due to the setting on the Win 7 machine but they are all set for sharing with everyone on the network. Passwords are off. Firewall is off as well. The network name is consistent across all the machines. I've been unable to find any information on why just one computer on the network would be prompted for a password to access another computer on the network.
I have a Windows 7 Pro with a 40MB drive and a 1.5TB drive. I wanted to add the TB drive to the 40MB drive which is the C: drive. I don't see a way to do this. I have checked out 3rd party software to join them but my IT friends say that's not a good idea.
I have a new computer I would like to install my office 7 to from my old computer. No install disk....pre installed when I bought old computer but have product key

I know it works because I had th wireless plugged into the same port. I have run out of ports to try. What now???
