i used bitlocker to encrypt, the process didnt get more than 10% done before failing, the result is a partially encrypted drive that is locked ( password and recovery key wont work) i need a program that will help retrieve the remaining data that is not encrypted.

Note: I have the password and the recovery key that decrypt the drive but I don't know how to use it because the drive after format back to its normal condition (bitlocker set off)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was repartitioning a 3 NTFS partitioned 1,5tb drive down to one partition via win 7 Disk Management tool. I successfully shrank one of the partitions. After shrinking the second partition, win 7 had a hiccup and reported the remaining single partition is now in a 'RAW' format. I still have data on the drive that i would like to recover prior to reformatting it.Apparently, on reading up about "RAW' files, the data is still there. What i would like to do is to somehow view the data and extract portions of it at a time to other smaller hds. From what i has read i can only extract everything to another 1.5tb drive, which i just don,t have available. If i can find a solution, i will eventually reformat and reuse my 1.5tb drive.How can i extract portions of data from a "raw" drive to a second smaller drive?

So I installed my HDD into it and thought while I was at it might as well upgrade to windows 7 (From XP) since I had to reinstall the OS. I installed window 7 using the upgrade option and the HDD were cleaned. I left it for a while only to come back now an unbootabe computer..... I reinstalled having to go through the custom install. I can now log into the computer.
Is the data on my HDDs gone forever? Also the OS isnt recognising one of my HDD's?? (Maybe save it for another post)

Right, I was basically writing a series of files onto my dvd-r using the windows 7 cd burner (the default one). The problem is, I cut-pasted them onto the dvd.Now, this was the fourth DVD being burnt and I had done the other three quite successfully. However, the third DVD, despite deing burnt, was still showing the files as *not* burnt. The problem was that the completion dialog hadn't shown upThat didn't seem to be a problem. I also got a usb enclosure for the old HDD, and managed to get most of the data off- with the exception of anything in my personal user folder- which includes documents, desktop files, and the download folder. Are there any way I can recover the data? The space left by the deleted partition are still un-allocated at the moment. Do I need to create the partition prior to data recovery? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a machine Running Win 7 Enterprise x64, the drive has been encrypted with BitLocker. Recently the machine stopped booting. I have tried normal boot, last known good configuration, safe mode w/ networking, safe mode and none of these will boot, they all get a BSOD.
I have the BitLocker Recovery Key so that part is not an issue. Is there a Bootable CD that has the ability to unlock the drive or does anyone have any other ideas?

I would like to use this drive and it's file data in an external drive case (SATA) connected to my notebook.

i have 2 harddrives 1 for os and the other for storage. i encrypted my entire storage drive because its easier to do then ur os because you needsome kind of card key or usb for the boot drive, but anywho im curious if i unlock the drive so i can access the files does that means its then visable to hackers? or does it need to be locked at all times to remain hidden and encrypted. so my question is if someone hacked into my pc from another computer and i already unlocked my storage drive, would the hackers be able to see all the files on it?

It worked fine for 5 months.After 5 months it was giving problems, so I took help from brother which suggested to reimage the machine with Windows 7.I did the same, however during installation of Win7 it showed drive C and Drive D. I deleted the Drive C and its gone, tried to refresh the windows however still was not there, so now installed Win7 on only remaining drive.I had 500 GB of hard disk divided in 2 partitions. Now I only see 224 GB in My Computer.I don't want to recover my data from encrypted drive; however I need that space of 250 GB.

I've got a new Dell Latitude which is used for business. I've encrypted the hard drive using Truecrypt. I've encrypted the entire drive, not just made an encrypted container.My question is though, if I use the windows 7 backup and restore feature, and backup the hard drive to a NAS device, in the event of the laptop being stolen, or if I choose to work with files on another computer, will the files which windows 7 backs up work? I work in IT, so have years of experience here, however encryption is something which I am only just learning. If the windows 7 backup and restore feature will not support this, can anyone recommend an alternative? I've looked into Acronis True Image Home 2012, however still need to evaluate this.

After windows loaded the normal software was present, but my customized links were gone and the default background was present. My files that were in my normal user folders were not present, but were later located in the users/username folder. I moved some of these folders to the desktop as that is where they had previously done. In the users folder there were 3 folders (public, my username and whatever the new default user was called). When I restarted the computer everything came back to normal, except the folders of files I had placed on the new desktop. I went into the user folder, but it only had my current user and the public folders.How do I recover the files from the desktop from the random corrupted profile that windows created which I can not manually log into? I searched for the files and the last record of them is linked to my user and says the shortcut is not valid.

Now Ultimate is installed on my machine and not authenticated so I purchased the recovery discs for Home Premium from the manufacturer's website but when I boot up the PC with the disc in the CD-ROM it just goes straight to windows and won't recognize or load the disc.

I used an imaging program to duplicate the drive contents onto the 500GB drive. My question now is, is it safe to switch to my 500GB as my primary drive and boot up from it without affecting my Windows 7 activation status, or do I need to de-activate it first on the 2TB drive then re-activate on the 500GB drive?

Recently the my computer has begun to freeze up with errors like "explorer.exe" has stopped responding or "windows" has stopped responding and half of the time when i try to boot it says it cant find windows. This has lead me to believe that my ssd is dying despite being only a year old. I need to RMA my ssd but to do that i would be losing my boot drive for weeks. So I thought id try to create a system image so that i can simply put my boot drive on my hdd, but when i try to create the image it says that the image would be 711GB because its including all of my hdd (which contains all my user libraries and downloads). My question is: how do I make windows stop thinking that my hdd is a system drive so that I can create a reasonably sized image, or more generally: how can i easily move my boot drive to my hdd? Also, I've read some posts about using "easyBCD" to accomplish the latter but I'm not sure that's exactly what i need in this situation.

I have heard that you can ghost a file on the data drive into the x86 folder so that all new installs go there and then you still recieve most of the benefits of your ssd w/o clogging it up. View 1 Replies View Relatedmy windows 7 pc has been partially freezing recently. i say partially because i'm still able to mouse around the screen and interact with open windows a little bit, but it's mostly useless and i have to do a hard reset.this seems to happen when i'm watching a Internet video (using chrome) after i've had it paused a while in order for it to buffer.i have run virus scans (microsoft security essentials) and malware scans (malwarebytes) and both have come up negative.i have also cleared cleared the cache (ccleaner) and defragmented the drives (defraggler) and that didn't seem to help either.i built this computer back in february so it isn't even a year old yet so it should be that full of crap yet that it would need a fresh install.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would say 80% of the time I can't access Facebook. When I can I can only access it through https but whenever I click on a link that is just http it will timeout. Other times I can just not access it no matter what. This happens on all browsers. IE9, Chrome, FF, etc. All of them have the same results so this wouldn't be a browser issue. What I have done. My laptop which is a macbook has no issues when connecting through same network.
This would rule out router settings (which I double checked anyways). This should also rule out ISP blocking. I ran walwarebytes and ccleaner numerous of times and it didn't pick anything up. I checked hosts file which it isn't in there. I added *.facebook.com in trusted sites in control panel just for the attempt of running out of ideas. What else could I possibly check and why would it work sometimes through https but not http?
Customer has Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit OS. Customer highlights a sequence of consecutive MS Word 2010 files in his C:usersUserNameMy Documents folder (NOT the My Documents library but the actual folder). He right clicks and selects Print in the pop-up menu. Some print, some do not and the order of printing is NOT EXACTLY the order of the files in the folder.On previous customer PCs running Vista and Windows XP the above worked PERFECTLY. However, the customer was running Word 2007 on the Vista PCs.
note this is NOT the Word 2010 error about "xxxx normal.dot" that Google search will quickly show for bulk printing. There is NO error message. Also the normal.dot error prevents all but the first file from printing ; he gets several files to print.Also this is NOT printing from a Window 7 library (which did not exist in earlier OS's). A windows 7 library is ACTUALLY links to files in the actual folders and MAYBE bulk printing would not work for a library BUT this is the actual My Documents folder as defined above (full path name).Also he has only tried this for Word 2010 files BUT that could be because that is all he want to print. The problem could occur with a mix of ANY printable files (ex Word and PDFs); I can not report on whether that is true or not as I only have info from the customer on the phone about this at the moment.
(1) Has any other sevenforums expert seen this problem or can provide a link to a forum where someone else reported this problem.
(2) What is the solution OR is does this feature just not work right in Windows 7. Regarding this last thing, please note the feature has not worked right since he first booted his Windows 7 SP1 PC. It did not work initially and then later fail.
Desktop comp. is Windows 7 Pro x64, laptop is Windows 7 Home Premium x32. Login passwords are the same. Homegroup was set up on the desktop, the laptop then joined. Homegroup passwords are the same. Both are members of "Workgroup" and are set as "Home Networks." Settings are per "Homegroup - Add Computer or Join"
The Windows generated library on the desktop, "Pictures" has five different locations in it, from three different drives. The "Documents"library has four different locations from three different drives, and the "Music" library has three different locations from two different drives. All the desktop libraries work as expected on the desktop.
All libraries, drives and folders are shared, and "Everyone" has all rights.
The laptop sees the desktop, and the three shared libraries. But it sees only one of each desktop libraries' several locations, the one that is listed first in the properties of the library on the desktop.
