How To Recover Formatted Drive Encrypted With BitLocker
Sep 17, 2012I had encrypted my C drive with bitlocker. It worked fine for 5 months.After 5 months it was giving problems, so I took help from brother which suggested to reimage the machine with Windows 7.I did the same, however during installation of Win7 it showed drive C and Drive D. I deleted the Drive C and its gone, tried to refresh the windows however still was not there, so now installed Win7 on only remaining drive.I had 500 GB of hard disk divided in 2 partitions. Now I only see 224 GB in My Computer.I don't want to recover my data from encrypted drive; however I need that space of 250 GB.

Aug 1, 2011I have drive on my hard disc (f contains my important data, and I encrypted it using bitlocker program which comes with windows 7 , accidently the drive had been formatted and the drive was locked (data is encrypted), I tried to recover the data using some recovery software but it's not Working because the data is encrypted and the SW can't see the data , please any one can help or advise to solve that disaster , I lose very much important data and I don't have backup .
Note: I have the password and the recovery key that decrypt the drive but I don't know how to use it because the drive after format back to its normal condition (bitlocker set off)

Jul 30, 2012I encrypted my folders with bitlocker and they turned green then i changed my windowes so i dont have access to my last user but i do have Recovery key identification,Full recovery key identification and BitLocker Recovery Key how can i use these to recover my files?what i did to encrypt my files was right click then properties then advanced then encrypt content to secure data at the end.

Feb 6, 2013i have 2 harddrives 1 for os and the other for storage. i encrypted my entire storage drive because its easier to do then ur os because you needsome kind of card key or usb for the boot drive, but anywho im curious if i unlock the drive so i can access the files does that means its then visable to hackers? or does it need to be locked at all times to remain hidden and encrypted. so my question is if someone hacked into my pc from another computer and i already unlocked my storage drive, would the hackers be able to see all the files on it?

Feb 9, 2010I have bitlocked a drive using Windows7. Then while decrypting the drive there was power failure and it was closed without completing. My system was not booting from the next time, so due to urgency i have quick format this drive using Windows XP Computer Management.

Aug 31, 2012I formatted my PC to another installation of Windows 7 Ultimate(also the one I had before the format).
Now before I formatted windows on drive C:, I encrypted a folder with Bitlocker. Now this folder was on another harddrive D: on my PC. After the format on C: drive, I cannot access any files in the encrypted folder anymore. The folder is color green(so are all the files inside) and when clicking on any file inside, it tells me "you don't have access to open this file".
Can OS Partition Access A Dual Boot Partition If Encrypted With Bitlocker
Aug 29, 2012I'm a long-time reader but new poster. I am currently running Windows 7. I want to install Windows XP onto another disc and have a dual-boot setup. I keep Windows 7 up to date and secure, but for the XP partition, I would rather not have antivirus running or even installed, in order to limit background processes. I will not be logging into any place or making any credit card purchases when booted into Windows XP. It will just be used for surfing, games, etc. Further, if and when XP becomes compromised or buggy, I will simply overwrite the partition with a backup image.
If I use Bitlocker to lock down the Windows 7 partition (with the encryption key on a thumb drive) and boot into Windows XP, am I correct in thinking the XP installation see or can't access the Windows 7 partition? If XP gets compromised, can a virus access or write to the Windows 7 partition?
Is there any other reason why this would not be secure? Can a virus write to the BIOS?

It works modestly well, as far as actually recovering the files, once you sort through all of the possible files that it finds, but like in the case at hand, there are over 300,000 files, and the version that I use only lets me recover 1000 at a time. I know that they have a newer version without this limit, but even so it would still require endless rummaging to find exactly what you want, because it scans the entire drive, without letting one set a search zone, and it labels all of the files with it own numbering system, rather than the files original identity.

Jan 3, 2012I have an external HDD (WD MyBook) that fell from a height of about 7 inches. The computer(s) will recognize it but say it's not initialized which means the boot records are fine. There are no grinding or any kind of noises at boot-up so the needle and platter seem to be ok. I started a complete recovery in EASEUS, but it's been 2 hours and it only found 54 files so far. (I know there are hundreds). Usually, on formatted drives, the number of "total files found" add up pretty quickly on this software and it is able to scan a 1TB drive in about 5 - 6 hours. This is the first time that I'm seeing such a slow reading of the drive. (Which makes me wonder again if it's physically damaged). since it's know that the best method of recovery is to start the recovery process as soon as possible, for any usage of the drive will reduce the success rate of recovery. But I'm thinking that if I just allow Windows to initialize the disk and format it with a quick format, that the only thing I'm ruining is the table, which EASEUS doesn't care about since it analyzes the disk by sectors.

Also when the backup hdd is connected with the bridge appeared in my computer but I am no have accesss to it, it does not say the data weight but say local disk with the letter of the drive.
