Facebook Partially And Frequently Blocked

Jul 28, 2012

I would say 80% of the time I can't access Facebook. When I can I can only access it through https but whenever I click on a link that is just http it will timeout. Other times I can just not access it no matter what. This happens on all browsers. IE9, Chrome, FF, etc. All of them have the same results so this wouldn't be a browser issue. What I have done. My laptop which is a macbook has no issues when connecting through same network.

This would rule out router settings (which I double checked anyways). This should also rule out ISP blocking. I ran walwarebytes and ccleaner numerous of times and it didn't pick anything up. I checked hosts file which it isn't in there. I added *.facebook.com in trusted sites in control panel just for the attempt of running out of ideas. What else could I possibly check and why would it work sometimes through https but not http?

Windows 7 Is Partially Freezing

Nov 29, 2012

my windows 7 pc has been partially freezing recently. i say partially because i'm still able to mouse around the screen and interact with open windows a little bit, but it's mostly useless and i have to do a hard reset.this seems to happen when i'm watching a Internet video (using chrome) after i've had it paused a while in order for it to buffer.i have run virus scans (microsoft security essentials) and malware scans (malwarebytes) and both have come up negative.i have also cleared cleared the cache (ccleaner) and defragmented the drives (defraggler) and that didn't seem to help either.i built this computer back in february so it isn't even a year old yet so it should be that full of crap yet that it would need a fresh install.

Bulk Printing Partially Fails In Windows 7

Apr 16, 2012

Customer has Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit OS. Customer highlights a sequence of consecutive MS Word 2010 files in his C:usersUserNameMy Documents folder (NOT the My Documents library but the actual folder). He right clicks and selects Print in the pop-up menu. Some print, some do not and the order of printing is NOT EXACTLY the order of the files in the folder. On previous customer PCs running Vista and Windows XP the above worked PERFECTLY. However, the customer was running Word 2007 on the Vista PCs.

note this is NOT the Word 2010 error about "xxxx normal.dot" that Google search will quickly show for bulk printing. There is NO error message. Also the normal.dot error prevents all but the first file from printing ; he gets several files to print. Also this is NOT printing from a Window 7 library (which did not exist in earlier OS's). A windows 7 library is ACTUALLY links to files in the actual folders and MAYBE bulk printing would not work for a library BUT this is the actual My Documents folder as defined above (full path name). Also he has only tried this for Word 2010 files BUT that could be because that is all he want to print. The problem could occur with a mix of ANY printable files (ex Word and PDFs); I can not report on whether that is true or not as I only have info from the customer on the phone about this at the moment.

(1) Has any other sevenforums expert seen this problem or can provide a link to a forum where someone else reported this problem.

(2) What is the solution OR is does this feature just not work right in Windows 7. Regarding this last thing, please note the feature has not worked right since he first booted his Windows 7 SP1 PC. It did not work initially and then later fail.

Homegroup Libraries Only Partially Listed On 2nd Computer

May 9, 2012

Desktop comp. is Windows 7 Pro x64, laptop is Windows 7 Home Premium x32. Login passwords are the same. Homegroup was set up on the desktop, the laptop then joined. Homegroup passwords are the same. Both are members of "Workgroup" and are set as "Home Networks." Settings are per "Homegroup - Add Computer or Join"

The Windows generated library on the desktop, "Pictures" has five different locations in it, from three different drives. The "Documents"library has four different locations from three different drives, and the "Music" library has three different locations from two different drives. All the desktop libraries work as expected on the desktop.

All libraries, drives and folders are shared, and "Everyone" has all rights.

The laptop sees the desktop, and the three shared libraries. But it sees only one of each desktop libraries' several locations, the one that is listed first in the properties of the library on the desktop.

PC Frequently Locks Up Nothing Responds

Feb 13, 2012

I built a new PC this past summer (specs are in my info). During the initial setup and installation of windows it locked up on me, but after a couple of tries, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 was properly installed. Since that point my computer locks up relatively frequently. When it locks up nothing responds...mouse and keyboard are useless, the last 16th of a second of sound is repeated, and the network itself actually locks up (no other computers on the network can access each other or the internet). The computer locks under the least demanding situations. I can play Skyrim for hours with the graphic settings set to max and it doesn't freeze. Meanwhile I play Dungeons of Dredmor or some fairly basic flash games, and within a half hour my computer will lock up.

I have run Memtest for 48 hours resulting in 0 errors. I have RMAed the processor & the motherboard. I have taken out one of the video cards and switched them. I have updated the bios. All of which have had no effect.Initially the CPU was running quite hot with the stock heatsink, but upon replacing it the CPU peaks at 50c.

PC Suddenly Started Hanging Frequently?

Dec 3, 2011

i left home for a few days over thanksgiving, and when i came back i found that my computer was behaving oddly. i built the computer myself only this may?

first, the specs:

cpu: intel core i5-2500 3.30 ghz (quad-core)
ram: 4 gb
mobo: asrock p67 extreme
gpu: ati radeon 5770 1g
hdd: seagate momentus xt st95005620as 500gb 7200 rpm 32mb cache 2.5" sata 3.0gb/s with ncq solid state hybrid drive [url]

basically, what is happening is that the computer will frequently hang for one, two, or even three seconds while performing basic tasks. i first noticed it while watching videos on Internet, and now its very obviously happening with everything i do on the computer. the computer had been performing wonderfully up until that point; it just developed this problem all of a sudden.

heres a breakdown of the performance issues that ive noticed:

startup: startup seems to take longer to get from power off to desktop.

watching streaming video: the video will frequently freeze for a couple of seconds, but the audio will continue as normal.

clicking: when i hover over something with the mouse, it sometimes takes a second or two for the item to be highlighted. computer occasionally hangs when clicking on anything: a link, a program icon, etc.

scrolling: sometimes hangs when scrolling with mousewheel, even on pages with simple text.

opening programs: occasionally takes significantly longer to open than normal. program begins opening up but does so slowly.

closing programs: when i click to close a program such as a word document, it sometimes takes a second or two to begin closing when before it would do so instantaneously.

[code]....

Frequently Getting Message - We Can't Connect To Hotmail Right Now

Aug 5, 2012

The Hotmail message "We can't connect to Hotmail right now. Please make sure that you're connected to the internet and try again." seems to appear all the time. Is this caused by poor internet speed, because I've got that, or is it something with google chrome, the browser I'm using? When I'm using the Hotmail mailbox it seems to work okay, but this message appears, seems like, every time I use it. It's mainly annoying since I can't understand the cause of why it appears. If I'm not really noticing a problem while accessing Hotmail, why does this message appear so frequently?

Computer Keeps Freezing / Unfreezing Frequently

Mar 25, 2012

Recently we had a builder round, and the electricity tripped while my computer was on since then my computer constantly freezes randomly no given time really (could be guessing at this time really as updates have occurred as well recently). An example is I could be browsing the web on a variety of browsers or just using the computer in general. the computer will lock up sometimes allowing me to move the mouse but not being able to do anything, and sometimes not being able to move the mouse, (ill usually get a circle spinning were the mouse cursor is). I've just noticed something when it recently crashed, a small popup windows appeared saying windows is not responding, or something similar?

It will then unfreeze about 2-3 minutes later? And when it freezes, I could press ctrl alt & del, then the task manager will pop up when the computer has resumed itself. I recently ran memtest on all the ram after around 50 hours of testing there was an error on one piece, another thing it could be possibly one of the updates I have run for drivers bios etc, but id be clutching at straws trying to find out. I have norton 360 and malwarebytes on, both find NO Viruses, so I retested one at a time in the same dimm slot, no problems? I then tested in pairs still no problems? I then retested all and this time I had no problems? strange? but only retested for 30 hours. At the bottom of the memtest screen, it said pass complete no errors.

Browsers Keyboard Hangs Frequently A Few Seconds?

Apr 30, 2012

when browsing, the browsers (chrome and ie9) freeses frequently a few secs. it doesn't repond on keyboard or touchpad actions: typing google autofill starts to auto fill, gives no extra characters when i type for a few sec and then gives the letters that a had typed (not all)the same with the backspace key. while typing this there's frequently a lag between typing and appearance of characters.pointer hoovering always works but sometimes (frequently it takes a few seconds to change from pointer to "link-hand" in another browser tab a Internet film is running without interruptions.often when i try to scroll with to fingers touchpad, the scrolling pointer appears but scrolling happens after a few seconds.

other programs like write: no problem
anti virus and malware finds nothing

core temp is normal; memtest and hdd test are normal.in task manager performance monitor 2 of 4 ram is used, the overall cpu use is 7% but every approx 10secs the monitor stops for a few seconds, then the cpu use goes to 100% for half a second and the monitor runs again.in safe mode everything seems ok?

New Computer Randomly Freezing - Happening More Frequently

Oct 11, 2011

I built the computer I'm currently on back in mid May of 2011. I put a lot of money (about $1500) into this machine so that it would last me a long time, but now I'm having some major problems with it randomly freezing. The first time this happened was once about three weeks ago, then it happened once last week, and so far three times this week(twice today alone). It doesn't look like one single thing is causing it, although 2 of the 5 times so far that it has happened, I did notice that it was triggered when I ran a program (once it was firefox, the other time it was minecraft, but I have since then run both program with no problem). Another thing to add is before my computer actually completely freezes, everything just starts lagging (mouse, etc) extremely bad for about 10-15 sec. I'll also add that I'm 100% sure a virus is not causing this, and I have run cleaning programs/defrag.
