I need a processor that can run a 3d architectural program without freezing on large sites, an intel i7 is recommended, but its a little pricey. Will the i3 with 6 gig ram will work. I am using the Chief Architect Program to render 65 2 bedroom house on 30 acres
View 1 Replies1/ My first problem is the speed/latancy of my PC, Its lagging quite alot now after running smoothly for a good 4 years with only 1 complete reinstall (from vista to Windows 7 ultimate 32bit which Im running now)Im finding it slowing to snail pace at times and when I open a large program like Photoshop only recently but it seems to not like this as much and even turns my PC to look more like Windows 98 when opening folders/web browsers all horrible and blocky.2/ I seem to have encountered a google type virus, which basically feels the need to open up adverts when I click on a link Ive seached for on google.Malwarebytes doesnt pick anything upAdaware picks up a load of unrelavant stuffSearch & Destroy finds nothingBut I still have the problem, Ive read up about it and even after deleting the problem you can still have this infecting your PC. Ive tried looking in the registry and looking at links on google where people have had the same problem but nothing.
3/ I have an external HDD which runs pretty smoothly. I keep it only for music and recently found 1 folder would slow up the entire drive to the point of crashing when ever I opened it and tried listening to the music in that folder. looking into this it has seemed to be 1 .wav file that has been causing problems, Ive removed this now and its sat in my recycle bin, Nothing will remove it from recycle though its just sat there, Cant delete it, Cant delete it with disk cleaner etc. nothing its still there
So in Vista when we gave a certain process to a certain core, when the computer was restarted it was all back to normal on all four cores.
Does any one know if Windows 7 keeps these settings? That would be very useful!
recently my pc has been delaying on opening everything, when i open a program like chrome it takes about 5 minutes or so for it to open then when i try open a new tab, it takes about the same time.when i unlock my pc or when i have to press yes or no to open that program, the sound played for it like 2- 5 minutes later. when i eventually open up a game the audio is fine but when trying to watch a Internet video sometime i dont even hear audio until about 5 minutes after the video has started?

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy client's computer was infected with a virus obtained via Facebook. I removed this and multiple other infections (and I'm pretty thorough with my scanning). She gets it back, starts working on it, and apparently her devices and printers icons are blank. Not missing, like with a "blank page" icon, just... blank. Here's the kicker: it only happens with large and extra large icons. It also happens with normal folder icons. When I change it to medium or lower, they come back. I've tried rebuilding the icon cache database several times, tried sfc /scannow, tried chkdsk, tried uninstalling any recent updates, etc... There have been no hardware changes, the hard drive has been tested as good (no bad sectors), her dual monitors are at a sane resolution, and I'm confident that the viruses has been removed.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have comcast internet.usually this problem occurs when im on Internet. i use google chrome. whenever i browse Internet, in like twenty five minute of video watching my computer starts to freeze. there is a cicle spinning and screen becomes blurry. i cant do alt control delete to end task it, because nothin pops up when i click it. now when i use other sites like facebook, twitter, the internet starts to freeze like before, before it was only Internet, now its a lot of sites and i have to manually hot the power button and relogon. is it a good sign that my power button on monitor doesnt turn blue when i turn it on, it used to , but now it dont. i can not use firefox because it will not let me install it. i am an administrator for sure because i followed these steps.url...when i google mozilla firefox from google chrome, and install it, it says"you may not have the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run. you may run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as the current user."when i click towards current user, my name and my last name initial is there in parentheses after the word current user although my account name is different. then its all gray at the bottom and under user name it says administator, and blank under password but i cant make any changes because it is gray. if i click okay, it disappears and nothin installed. and when i click at bottom run this program as the following user and then i see administrator under user name and nothin under password. the account i have is protected by a password. if i type in my username and password that i currently am using, i have one account on my pc, or if i press okay how it was given to me, it says logon failure: user account restriction. possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced."i use superantispyware,malwairebytes pro, avast free as a virus protection.and whenever i go to itunes, i have to end task it once because it always freezes on me the first time i access it, it does let me end task itunes though

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen browsing a website that I have pinned to my taskbar (Facebook for example) I've noticed that the pages take longer than usual to load. When it does load, the page becomes very choppy when I'm scrolling up/down and is generally slow to respond. It's the same for any website I have pinned to my taskbar.
The strange thing is, If I open up IE9 (non-pinned) and browse using the address bar everything is smooth and fast. I've cleared my temp internet files and reset IE to default settings with no luck. I've also tried un-pining then re-pinning website but it's still the same. Is there a way I can clear the cache for individual pinned sites?

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.
Computer is currently suffering from persistent freezing and bluescreens. It seems to happen almost randomly, and usually very soon after startup and loading of Windows. System restore has not helped.'fraid that's all the info I can give right now. Any recommendations? If anyone wants me to run hijackthis or dxdiag and post results I'd be more than happy to (assuming I can get that far before it freezes!). Safe mode does work, and the problem does not occur while in safe mode.

My wife says she has used the computer to access bank account but i cant think of anything that may have changed since then.just noticed i can access gmail which is a secure site.

i have tried uninstalling and re-installing flash, installing 64 bit flash player, have tried uninstalling chrome and re-installing and nothing has worked, have tried terminating my virus and firewall software too.
on a few certain site, like facebook, twitter, classic yahoo mail the screen erratically flashes
i keep my PC switched on for days on end, i'm also logged onto these sites, but sometimes i get the screen flashing, nothing i can do to stop it unless i restart my PC and it's fine until it starts again, it can be a day, to a few days
i think it may be facebook, as when i'm not on this site, it seems to be fine.
do you think it's a flash problem or something else i've just uninstalled flash & reinstalled to see if it's going to help
This is the second install on older hardware (Intel 945gm chipset) within two months that has IE9 unreliability, with some sites failing to render at all.I have reinstalled flash player, Java, reset Internet Options to default, and it still just hangs there. This is very annoying. I had a similar situation two months ago and ended up installing Firefox to solve it. Is this a known issue? Is there are decent troubleshooter?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. We have a Netgear cable modem / wireless router. Comcast is the service provider. My other two computers connect and load pages without any issue. However, my new laptop connects without issue, the browser boots up just fine, and google comes up right away.
Here's the strange part: It only loads pages from Google! Whenever I go to another website, the browser finds the start, begins loading very slowly, then stops when the progress bar reaches about halfway. Again, my other two computers ( a laptop and a desktop ) both connect fine. They are both running XP.
I thought it might be a problem with the browser, so I went to starbucks with the new laptop and tried using the wifi there. All pages loaded perfectly there without issue. That's why I'm guessing Comcast is involved in this problem.
When I got back home, I tried using Firefox 3.5 and back to the same problem. I noticed that in addition to Google, Reuters News loads as well. Skype is also running without any problem.
Any clue if there is a setting in Windows 7 I need to change, or is this something I need to call Comcast about?

View 2 Replies View RelatedNow the problem: simply put, I cannot connect to any ftp site (even tp.microsoft.com). I strongly believe this has something to do with my computer itself, but I've done endless searches on google and tried several solutions to no avail. Here is a list of what I have tried thus far:-Connecting using the command prompt. On the command prompt I've typed in "ftp ftp.microsoft.com" and it goes straight to the "ftp>" . Whenever I try to use a command the prompt responds with a "Not connected". However, if I ping the ftp server it does respond like it should.-Using software ftp clients (Firezilla, SmartFTP, etc.). I put in the necessary information and that's basically as far as it gets.-Checking "Enable Passive FTP" in IE. That did zip.
-Adjusted Firewall settings... (based on suggestions from forums and such). To the best of my knowledge, everything set as it should. The settings I adjusted were on Windows FirewallThis is what leads me to believe it is my computer that is the problem because when I use this web-based clients its pretty much the only thing that works and I am able to manipulate the files just fine.That's pretty much all my attempts in various forms and google searches. I should also note that I am connected wirelessly to my school's network, but the network doesn't seem to be the problem because I tried connecting using my roomate's laptop and it connected just fine.
Some sites like yahoomial.com are not getting opened in any of my browser. I have tried to disable my firewall, reinstalled the browser, cleaned the system everything but nothing works... it keeps on loading but never loads the page.... while from cmd i m able to ping the sites.

It's extremely URL-specific, for example, one particular video on Vimeo won't add in Firefox, but other videos on the same site, with the same URL style, will. No problem adding the "problem" bookmarks as favorites in IE8.
Why is Firefox so finicky about refusing to add some sites to the bookmark list and is there a workaround?
This is on Win7x64. It's an older Firefox version (3.5.19), but not ancient.
what seems like a very basic question but I have never been able to get �visited sites� to be a color I chose under �internet options>appearance>colors.� It seems to imply that it will be used on the actual web site but I want it on the page with all the links that I have just Googled a particular topic.
