View 7 Replies View RelatedMy USB mouse has been disconnecting on my for months now, and I thought it was a problem with the mouse, however, I bought a new one the other day and the problem persists. It goes like this: 5 minutes or two hours or more hours in, my mouse will stop responding. Sometimes there's a lead up of intermittent disconnecting and reconnecting, sometimes there isn't. Either way, it eventually goes down for good and will NOT respond until I restart the computer. The Keyboard and the speakers which are also powered by USB are fine, just the mouse is dead.
If I try to switch ports, the mouse is still dead. If I use a port on my usb hub, it's still dead. I'd searched and tried several fixes, like going to Advanced Power Options and disabling Selective Suspend. I've gone to Device Manager and unchecked: "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Nothing has worked. For what it's worth, I think it happens quicker when I'm playing a video game like Sims 3 or Skyrim. That or it's just more annoying so it sticks in my mind more. Both of the mice I've been trying use the HID-Compliant Mouse driver.

I can not install or uninstall programs it always come up with "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation". I am logged in the administator account how can i get around this to uninstall programs?

I've been trying to troubleshoot my BSOD issues the last 2 months but I'm not sure what to do from here. During restart my computer will BSOD; sometimes restart 5~6 times will BSOD, sometimes 2000~3000 times not happen, always seemingly random but once happen ,next time will continuous BSOD. A few things I've already done:
Updated BIOS.
Scan virus (no virus)
During the day I clicked on a link saying I needed to check for updates or restart my computer. Don't remember exactly which program it was or in what order.
However, now when my computer starts up my desktop has reverted to some default desktop which is misssing a lot of my icons I had previously. Some of my shortcuts are still there, but most are missing.
I have Windows 7 64bit and I am trying to set the system up to not automatically restart if it crashes and when it crashes to write a mini dump file. However after I deselect restart automatically and select mini dump and click ok and exit, I see that all settings are reverted to default settings.

Gaming is smooth (hd 7750) but sometime game stuck for 2-5 minute. I've to format my system windows drive every week.. backup doesn't work and now when I try to shutdown it's not going shutdown. We have been trying to install Photostory on a Windows 7 PC. When we run the Pstory.msi file it gets through initial part but when it gets to install the software a pop-up window comes up saying:-"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"

Today i decided to watch Naruto shippuden so i searched it on google went to the link, found the video and clicked play. 5 seconds after i hit Play my computer shut off. The system automatically restarts and i Select run windows normally again it restarts and gives BSOD. I can run windows in Safe mode, and safe mode with networking. When it restarts i hit run windows normally, it runs everything is fine. The boom BSOD.

Both came back fine. Suspecting Hard drive problem I downloaded and ran Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Diagnostics (it's a WD drive). That too came back with a clean report. I have run the usual maintenance duties like defrag but still no good. Also checked for malware with Spybot.

So, I've been having a bunch of problems with BSODs lately and I've been struggling to find the cause because even after disabling automatic restart in the system properties, the damn thing still restarts. All I get is the Windows Error Reporting service starting up when the computer reboots and telling me my computer just Blue Screened. I'm pretty sure I could figure out what it is (I already know it's not RAM, because I ran memtest on it for 13 hours with no results) if I just could get at that error code on the blue screen, but that's hard to do when you never even see it.
View 12 Replies View Relatedover the weekend I updated my video card drivers to the most recent version and since then my system would crash after I play a game of Dota or whatever. If I left the computer running without running any games it would perform fine and not crash. Sometimes it would give me a BSOD but more often than not my computer would simply turn off and then restart. 1. Close all application and end recent file process.
2. Check " don't remove file to the recycle bin, remove file immediately when delete" in the recycle bin.

Well i thought that turning off the option for auto restart when a system failure occurs would be a good idea so i could see a blue screen of death so i could determine the problem with my computer but it did nothing. My computer still restarts whenever.

I would be transferring a large amount of files from a hard drive to a backup overnight, only to find myself on the login screen and half of the files transferred next morning. Or I'd be playing a game, surfing the web, even the simplest of tasks, it doesn't matter.

Every now and then, my system just completely freezes, I can't anything. I can't even restart by pressing the Power button. I don't think it happens when I do a certain task, everything freezes one by one or window by window. Just as an example, first Windows Media Player will freeze then FireFox then Explorer and then the Windows Gadgets and the last to freeze is the cursor. I have no choice but to hold in the Power to hard shutdown my PC. Could this be because of my old motherboard or is it my hard drive crashing? I have 2 HDD, 250Gb each, the HDD that has windows on has about 70Gb free.

I have two HDs in my system:
1. WD Caviar Blue 500GB (OS Drive)

I've read that enabling write-caching may speed up drive performance. I checked on my 1TB drive, it was already enabled. On my 500GB drive though it was disabled.So I then decided to enable write-caching on my 500GB drive. I proceeded to do so without any apparent problems. However after doing a system restart I saw that it went back to being disabled again.I've tried this several times already, same thing each time!Enable write caching restart write caching disabled again.
During a full system restore of my computer i didn't realize it was not charging and left it to finish the restore. Shortly coming back later, it had died so i rebooted it. During the reboot, it did its normal process well restoring," Setup is starting services.", but then during the process when gathering windows data to restore the computer in its final stages, it gives me the message" Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer." Shortly after starting my computer, going through the same process, it gives me that message again, and then it repeats, and eventually of course, goes into a circle of completing the same issue.
