Opening A Specific Port
Through my uni halls, the internet provider provides their own tv service (basically identicle to freeview in the UK for chanel choice) this is iptv.
Now with Windows 7 I can't seem to play it, there trouble shooting doesn't include Windows 7 yet but both for xp and vista it talks about opening port 1234.
How do I do this?
I found a guide on here telling how to access ports but I didn't know where to go after that for a specific.
Any other ideas to try and make it work, if this one doesn't? It worked last year on xp 64bit.

Finding Spyware On A Specific Port Or At All?
So I was trying to load up the Tribes: Ascend beta client, and it refused to load. Looking to the diagnostic tool that comes with the download, it gives me this:"The system is unable to connect to the update server [URL] due to a likely spyware/malware infection on port 6522" EDIT: Didn't want for it to actually post a link, because it makes my post look sketchy. So I added in the [dot]s. It doesn't work going straight to it anyhow. So I naturally go, "Say what?" and immediately run MalwareBytes. Didn't find a thing. I download a little utility I found called TCPView and can't even locate the port (6522) as being active. "Hmm," I say. So I netstat. -ab. -naob. Still don't see the port. To hell with it. I am going to ask the port if it's talking to anyone. I make a .bat file with this inside: @echo getting port 6522 info (only) @pause @netstat -s 6522 @pause @cls @echo @exit I see the port. I see it is receiving packets, doing port things, but I have no idea what is going to or from it. Now I am questioning whether I am infected, or if this beta client is just screwing up and thinking a process is hostile when it isn't. But I would really like to find out in case, you know, it's actually something malicious.I am currently running AVG as kind of a last-ditch, but it's almost finished and I don't expect it to find anything, especially after MalwareBytes didn't. I have only seen one other person online say they had the same problem, and someone on Yahoo answers told them to go for the old run Rkill, then run MalwareBytes, but seeing as I'm neither getting the signs associated with the Rkill/eXplorer.exe processes, and there are about ten utilities each designed for a specific variant, I am not so keen on trying every single one out when that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Opening An UPnP Port On Windows Startup
Just wondered if there's a way to open 2 ports via UPnP (specifically 113 and 3389) on startup, as my silly router refuses to give my computer the same IP every time. Yes, I know I could set my IP as static locally, however, I move my computer to various locations to "share" things?

Is There Way To Block Specific Network
I'm looking to block a specific network both wired and wirelessly and wondering if there is a way to do this. I spend to much time on the internet when at home. I can now lock the computers so that during specific times I can't access the home network. HOWEVER I would like to configure one laptop computer so that it can't hook up to the home network at all. Not being able to connect with the network either hard wire or wirelessly. I want to be able to take that computer to other locations though and be able to hook up wirelessly to them. So in other words I couldn't connect to the home network but can connect to other networks.

Cannot Access Specific Websites
I can use my internet just fine except for two specific web-sites (that I know of) that crash when I try to access them. those two websites are: what.cd and utorrent.com. when I type them into the search bar, I get this:This webpage is not available Google Chrome could not load the webpage because what.cd took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.I know it's not the website because other people I know can access them just fine.but there is an even stranger problem. When I do a google search in the URL bar, usually it works fine. but when I include the words "torrent" or "what" in the search, the browser crashes the same way. I can search for anything else and it works fine. But if one of those two words "torrent", or "what" is included, it crashes..

Wallpaper Is Getting Reset To A Specific One?
I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong thread. I'm new to this forum. So, no matter which wallpaper I choose, it gets changed to the brown wallpaper(in the architecture section) after I shut down and open the computer for a few times. I don't really know when it gets changed, but it doesn't take any longer than 2 days or so

No Video On Specific Display?
There I was trying to show off my HTPC to the INLAWS (darnit), and I get no picture when I enter Windows. This rig has worked perfectly on a 42" Vizio for a couple years now, but the only way I can get windows to display is in safe mode (not even low-resolution). The HDTV I am plugging into (HDMI) is a 40" Phillips. To make an odd thing even stranger, in dual display mode, if the TV is on a different input (such as T.V. or Xbox) I can see the computer recognizing it, modle number and all. The second I switch to the specific HDMI imput computer loses detection.

Specific Bootmgr Problem
I got hold of an official (legal) Windows 7 release through my college which has a deal with microsoft. This is not a beta or RC I am running. I have been running Windows 7 with no problems for 3 weeks now, and got all new parts and finally got rid of my single core cpu. put everything together, attatche harddrives, reinstalled and activated win 7 without error. --I installed XP on one drive (drive0 labeled D and win 7 on the other (drive1 labeled C. --i decided later that day after getting XP mode working that i didn't need the XP drive anymore and formatted it. --I set the proper boot flags on the harddrive with 7 on it. but i get the "bootmgr missing" error, and have been unable to fix it. i used system recovery, and that put the MBR on the proper drive ( i also swaped the sata cables so Windows 7 drive is drive0 now) and i removed the other harddrive completely. How do i fix the bootmgr with the recovery tools on the DVD?

Cannot See Specific Wireless Network?
With my netbook Acer Aspire One 521 I have previously connected to both home and work wireless networks with no problems, however the work network no longer appears in the 'available connections' list. I get a variety of available connections from the local area (more than any other computer) but not the specific router I am looking for & sat next to!I can still connect at home no problems with the netbook (i.e the wireless adaptor is functional) and with my laptop I have no problems at work, nor do any of my colleagues - so the router is functioning correctly.I have tried:- restarting both netbook & router- checked the router is set to mixed (b&g signal type)- checked the wireless connections list for duplicate entries and tried deleting the saved previous entry for the work network- using a system restore point from when I could connect to the networkNo new software, antivirus/firewall etc.. have been installed since it has been working as I got all that up and running at home prior to taking it in to work.Laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium & netbook Windows 7 starter.

Many BSOD's Without Any Specific Reason
To the point- specs of my comp- AMD Phenom II X2 550 (no OC), 4 Gb Memory (Kingston), Geforce GTX 260 (latest drivers), Chieftec 600W, Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit. From time to time, without any specific reason, I've got BSOD's. I realise that often (but not always) they are connected with watching films or playing games (recently for instance Diablo 3). Sometimes BDSOD's occur 5 times during one day and sometimes I have they off my head for 2 weeks. I tested my hardware with Memtest, Orthos, Prime95 and some other programs- can't remember their names- no errors at all. Here are my dumps file.

Unable To Run A Specific Game?
i have a weird problem. I cannot run Microsoft's Age of Empires online, because an error msg appears -> Basically I must enable it in Parental Control. Now this is the problem. I use a custom Windows 7 install, I removed many parts of the OS to speed it up, and I removed parental control as well. So basically I don't have parental control in Windows, but this game is keep asking for enabling the game there.I registered on the official forum and tried to get some help...no luck. How could I solve this problem? AFAIK I cannot "download" Microsoft Windows 7's parental control and "install" it. I don't want to install the full OS just because of this, and I don't want to create another custom Windows 7 with parental controls enabled.

Denying Access To A Specific File
I am about to transfer all the files pertaining to a project, copy them onto an external hard drive and give the drive to my client. There are 4 .VEG files (Sony Vegas files, my video editing software) that I would like to be protected. Meaning that only me can open those files. So that the client can't simply hire another dude with the same software and freely work on the project on his end. Actually I highly doubt that my client is even remotely capable of doing something like that but this is a security protocol I wanted to implement for a while and now is a good place to start. So is there a way to password protect those files or denying access altogether?

How To Undo Permission For A Specific Program
I know that the answer to my question is easy, but when it comes to working with Permissions, I am an absolute dud. Anyway, I have two programs that I want to have open automatically when I boot up, Thunderbird and Maxthon. I have placed their shortcuts into the Startup folder. They do open, but when Maxthon opens, the User Control Box opens asking to allow program to make changes to the computer. This is my mistake in that when I set up Maxthon I inadvertently must have clicked a button that directed a permission OK. But, BTW, Maxthon shortcut->Properties->Advanced button->run as admin NOT checked??? I would like to undo the permission request so that Maxthon will open on boot up without having to do anything.
