I wasnt quite sure where to post this but when i start my machine and the "starting windows" screen comes up there is no Windows 7 icon on the screen or anything. I just get a black screen with "starting windows" written at the bottom. Ideas? I'm not dual booting by the way.
View 6 RepliesI went to boot up my laptop PC and I see H20Insyde asking me for a password. I have no idea where this came from. What could have caused this? I have always booted up and the only thing I see is my normal screen from Windows 7 that ask for my password.

I have built my computer about 2 months ago now, and had nothing but issues with it, display drivers stopped responding, alot of BSOD (bccode 1a and 50), black screens, lockups and so forth, i have FINALLY read enough forums over this 2 month period to solve majority of problems accept one, Computer runs fine, but every morning on cold bootup it'll start to load POST and then go to a black screen and just stay there unless i reboot the computer and then it'll bootup fine. I will turn off the computer after that and go to work for about 8-10hours come home and turn it on all fine, untill the next day. I have tried new ram, fail safe settings in bios, updated bios to the lastest, bought a new power supply, tried reconnecting everything, unpluged storage harddrive. Only thing i could think of causing the problem is my video card drivers, because as soon as i install the drivers i get "drivers have stopped responding but have recovered" screen would lock up freeze/artifacts and then come back, until i changed my idle clocked from 157/300 to 400/900 and it sorted out that problem, but those settings dont kick in until i reach into desktop, could it be trying to load the ati drivers during post and black screening?

Restarted it to allow updates to be applied, then nothing.All I get is a black screen with a mouse cursor (that I can move, for all the good it does me)I've tried every possible key combination out there, nothing works. F8, F12, Ctrl-Alt-Del, nothing. Can't go into Safe Mode, can't access the BIOS. All I get is the Windows opening chime and a black screen where I would normally log in to access my computer. Every connection is secure, nothing loose.

The mouse does not move.I inserted my Windows 7 disc and went into repair. I tried a restore and a repair. Nothing happened. I should note that also my mouse pointer was not functioning at this time, either. That is, the pointer was in the center and the mouse was not moving.I hear the fan going on, eventually it stops making noise, not to be confused with the computer shutting off. I guess you call that more of an "idle sound".I checked the connections. Unplugged and replugged in the mouse. No luck.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble installing windows on a new rig I just built. I'm not sure if its a driver error or maybe some other hardware error I'm overlooking. Here's the problem I'm encountering. I've tried to install 3 different windows. Windows 7 64bit(burned), Windows 7 32bit (burned), Windows Vista OEM. Upon the fresh install my computer goes to the "Loading files from disk" than will try to boot up to the install. When the boot up screen comes on with the horizontal bar it freezes after about 10-15 seconds, then nothing.I have 3 hard drives I've tried to install every copy on (2 SATA HDDs, and a SSD). Same symptom. My old HDD with windows still on it, I tried to boot it up and it still freezes(shouldn't boot up anyway right?). When I try to load safemode on the HDD with windows on it, I am able to. I tried installing the Vista copy through this method and it is successful until the PC reboots during the install and freezes back up bootup. This made me think it was a driver error.
I also mistakenly tried installing windows with no HDD's attached to the motherboard.. That also made it to the bootup screen, but froze(duh) at the bootup screen too. So from that mistaken test, could this be a hardware issue if its freezing at the same spot with and without the HDD? [code]I've also tried removing the video card and using the onboard video, leaving only one stick of ram in, and I've swapped ram from another PC to test(can't remember the model ram). I haven't tried swapping the dvd drive yet. I've read places that a heatsink could be causing this problem, but if I can get into safe mode on an old windows install could it be hardware such as the heatsink/cpu, or just drivers?
At the screen where the Windows 7 logo is, my startup freezes and then many different coloured pixels appear at the top of the screen.This happens when trying to boot into safe mode as well

Usually, when you press the buttons a volume bar appears in the middle of the screen and tells you where the volume is. It does not appear now.

Have "ClipTrak", a cliboard extender on my PC, and an icon to open it up was placed automatically in the area on the bottom of the screen, extreme right.
Not sure of what this area of the bottom taskbar bar is called; start-up, perhaps ?
It stays there for hours, works as it should, then totally disappears until the next PC
shutdown and subsequent start up again.
What might be happening ?
I restored my computer successfully but I still got the blinking cd icon next to my mouse pointer. After I restarted my computer I got Windows 7 with a clock and "2 min" under it and then it went to a black screen with blinking cd icon. I don't understand what is going on. I can get into task manager and type in explorer.exe but that doesn't do anything. I also tried the Regedit fix, but that didnt do anything too. I need help on how to fix this. My CD Rom won't even open for some reason.

Since late this morning a strange icon has appeared on the right side of the screen, whatever program I am running. It looks to be about 10% of the vertical size of the screen, is fixed, is a black rounded square and contains an arrow head pointing up standing on a narrow base outlined in white. The arrow head contains a capital A with a backward slash over it, and the slash extends out of the arrow head at the top. What this might mean, and how I can remove it?

The same happens when starting in safe mode however an error is displayed stating:Logonui.exe : The Application was unable to start correctly 0x000006 I have performed a chkdsk on the drive and also run windows repair performing startup repair that found no issues. The machine was built a few years back and hasn't changed significantly since then The symptom has just begun today) and only impacts Windows. The Linux install on this machine is unaffected I'm running Windows 7, with Office 7, both activated successfully (also running Open Office and Libre Office which were upgraded last week). I recently changed video card, about 3 weeks back suspect this is related to some sort of Microsoft security issue can't find any references on the web. Cant generate a screen shot (which suggests this is being inflicted by Windows itself) even with bitmap capture e.g., snippy the icon is a very basic black and white padlock shape that stays right in the middle of the screen, is partly transparent and is visible no matter what programs are running - full screen games or windows applications.

Just shows me a black screen which fades back to a icon-less desktop. Solutions regarding finding explorer.exe and running it to show desktop icons don't work either.Just pops out the explorer window showing the desktop.And don't even start on right clicking desktop and select show icons.... cause that's the first thing I tried. System restore in safe mode yielded no results. Virus and malware scans turn up a clean bill. I'm only short of reformatting the pc, and I'm not even sure if I'm able to run the reformat from windows.

I have tried going into User Accounts >Change Passwords where I get the three boxes "Current Password", "Change Password" and "Confirm New Password" all blank as expected.
Its what happens next that has me puzzled. I tried leaving the "Current Password" blank , entered a new Password into the "Change Password" box and re-entered this into the last Box .
I now get the message " The password you typed is incorrect. Please re-type your new Password"

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever i boot my computer while loading windows, at the login, or very shortly after (within 2-3 minutes) of logging into my system my video freezes completely. It never shuts down, gives an error message, no blue screen of death. I am running windows 7 32bit Edition and this issue has only been happening recently. I have concluded the issue is an Nvidia issue because when i deleted the drivers and booted up without them i have no issues with "default" windows drivers. I have tried using older drivers, confirming that my drivers are up to date. I have attempted system restores and nothing i have tried is solving the issue. It runs fine in safe mode. The issue was happening only occasionally at first, eventually it would boot back up and i wouldn't have issues again for a few weeks. When it freezes it also causes an audio loop if anything is playing, so i suppose it could be crashing the system but windows has no crash logs indicating its a system crash. I'm lost, aside from replacing the video card or doing a full reinstall of windows 7 i'm not sure what else i can do to fix it!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 again after a couple months on XP, and I was just getting everything moved and copied from my secondary hard drive which stores my Acronis backups, and all of my data.The last thing I did was install Acronis, which wanted me to restart my PC. No problem, it worked just fine. Made a backup, and turned on Acronis Startup Recovery Manager (ASRM)... Everything worked perfect until I restarted for some reason, I don't remember what it was... I got NTLDR Is Missing, press Alt+Ctrl+Del to restart So I did, and it came up again, and couldn't find a way to fix it...Even trying to use "fixmbr" from a Win2000 disc's console didn't work, which usually, it fixes things like that.... I set it down for the night...Woke up, and had the strange idea of unplugging and removing the hard drive that contains my data files and Acronis Secure Zone.... And wow, It worked...how can I plug my hard drive back in and be able to boot up? Remove Acronis? Turn off ASRM?
