After Window Logo During Bootup BSOD Appear
Sep 13, 2012After the window logo during bootup, BSOD appears.I find out that if i disable my Nvidia Display driver (in Safe mode), i could restart and get into windows. After which i update to the latest driver and i enable it, BSOD appeared after the window logo again.I have tried System Restore , but that is not working for me.

Change A "No-Password" Bootup Back To A "Password" Bootup?
Jan 9, 2011At present I have my WIN 7 set to Boot up without a Password. I would now like to change that siuation back to a "Password Required" Boot.
I have tried going into User Accounts >Change Passwords where I get the three boxes "Current Password", "Change Password" and "Confirm New Password" all blank as expected.
Its what happens next that has me puzzled. I tried leaving the "Current Password" blank , entered a new Password into the "Change Password" box and re-entered this into the last Box .
I now get the message " The password you typed is incorrect. Please re-type your new Password"
Computer Freezing On Bootup?
Mar 21, 2011Whenever i boot my computer while loading windows, at the login, or very shortly after (within 2-3 minutes) of logging into my system my video freezes completely. It never shuts down, gives an error message, no blue screen of death. I am running windows 7 32bit Edition and this issue has only been happening recently. I have concluded the issue is an Nvidia issue because when i deleted the drivers and booted up without them i have no issues with "default" windows drivers. I have tried using older drivers, confirming that my drivers are up to date. I have attempted system restores and nothing i have tried is solving the issue. It runs fine in safe mode. The issue was happening only occasionally at first, eventually it would boot back up and i wouldn't have issues again for a few weeks. When it freezes it also causes an audio loop if anything is playing, so i suppose it could be crashing the system but windows has no crash logs indicating its a system crash. I'm lost, aside from replacing the video card or doing a full reinstall of windows 7 i'm not sure what else i can do to fix it!

Aug 16, 2011I installed Windows 7 again after a couple months on XP, and I was just getting everything moved and copied from my secondary hard drive which stores my Acronis backups, and all of my data.The last thing I did was install Acronis, which wanted me to restart my PC. No problem, it worked just fine. Made a backup, and turned on Acronis Startup Recovery Manager (ASRM)... Everything worked perfect until I restarted for some reason, I don't remember what it was... I got NTLDR Is Missing, press Alt+Ctrl+Del to restart So I did, and it came up again, and couldn't find a way to fix it...Even trying to use "fixmbr" from a Win2000 disc's console didn't work, which usually, it fixes things like that.... I set it down for the night...Woke up, and had the strange idea of unplugging and removing the hard drive that contains my data files and Acronis Secure Zone.... And wow, It worked...how can I plug my hard drive back in and be able to boot up? Remove Acronis? Turn off ASRM?

Mar 26, 2011i can't access my bios at bootup (the part where its asked press F2 or F12) I been researching and googling everywhere on why does my keyboard does not work at bootup.Some had it resolve because they had PS2 plug on the motherboard but my motherboard is new it only have USB plugs. Now iam not sure what to do i tried everyone from restarting my computer, unplug all the usbs and put them back, and also unplug all but the keyboard. Its still the same. However after the bootup my keyboard works its just in the bootup it does not work.

Five or six months ago, in setting my then-new Dell computer I evidently responded to a prompt by creating a bootup password, with an accompanying Hint. But through those months the computer never asked for the password, <b>until two days ago</b>. It prompted me with "wherehus", (the "hus" being "husband", referring to me) which I believe to be a truncated version of the hint I set up originally. It now suddenly wants the password. and why that change and why the hint is truncated, I have no idea. I apparently never wrote down what the password should be, like a natural-born fool.That hint had to continue with something like BORN, EDUCATED, SERVED IN ARMY, MARRIED, and the like. "BORN" could be Rochester, or Rochester Minnesota, or St. Mary's or St.Mary's Hospital or something like that. If it was "ARMY", the password would surely be Germany. And so on with names of grade and high school, university, or private business school, many of them having several possible "answers", as above. And maybe some other "wheres" that I can't think of. Of course any of those would be subject to capitalization, spacing, and/or punctuation. A password wilderness.I've worked over those possibilities exhaustively, and haven't struck the real password. I've more or less run dry with variations.That's not a technical problem that anyone could help with remotely, so I have to assume I am not going to come up with the password. And therein lies my present dilemma. I'm not asking for instructions in hacking the password back, as I know you won't do that. The computer came with Windows 7 installed, and I do have a brand-new, never-used, Windows 7 installation set, which I bought for a different computer but haven't installed because that computer doesn't have enough memory or hard drive space. Which leads me to a number of puzzlements:
1. Older versions of Windows, when installed, wiped out EVERYTHING on the hard drive, or at least left them irretrievable. I think I have heard that Windows 7 does not do that. Does anyone know?
If forced to it, I could live with a wiped-clean hard drive if that's what the new installation would do. I have or can get installation disks for the software, and recreating or retrieving the data from backups would be possible, though a pain in the neck.
2. But is it even going to be possible to install the new Windows 7, with or without the hard drive contents? Since I can't boot up, how can I run the Windows 7 installation CD(s)?
3. Where, if anyone knows, is the password stored? If it's in some semipermanent memory in the computer rather than on the hard disk, might I be stuck with that unknown password even after a new Windows 7 install?
4. Or even if I installed a different new hard drive and managed to install Windows 7, would I still be stuck?
Keyboard Takes A While To Be Recognized On Bootup
May 15, 2012The title more or less says it all: "Keyboard takes a while to be recognised on bootup"
My pc boots in about 17 seconds, when it's done in order to login i have to insert my password but it takes a while (15-20 seconds or more) to recognise the keyboard so i usually use the onscreen-keyboard option. but it is really lame that i have to do it that way in order not to wait double the time.
My desktop is homebuild and I have personalized also a couple of things in windows, however this problem is pretty recent and I didn't do major changes before that.
I don't really know what extra information to give however i have an idea what the problem might be: the keyboard is inserted into an external usb port (8 extra usb slot extender), it might affect the visibility of the keyboard to windows.
However: in the bios before bootup i can clearly see the kb has been identified.
BIOS - 2 Copies Of Windows 7 On Bootup
Oct 1, 2011My computer crashed several months ago. I have 2 hard drives so I reinstalled windows 7 on my D drive. I also reverted back to an earlier version of the OS which corrected the problem on the C drive. How can I remove the OS from the D drive now that I don't need it. Whenever I boot up it asked me which OS I want to use. I actually reformatted the D drive but it is still asking me which OS I want to use. How do I correct this problem so it only sees the OS on the C drive. I couldnt find anything in the Bios to correct it. I have a Dell Inspiron 570.

Feb 17, 2011It started a couple of days ago when an error appears on one of my hard drives (second drive) during bootup, but after the first encounter I logged into windows fine and thought nothing of it. A while after my desktop froze and I was unable to do anything so I restarted. The error was still there but I logged into windows fine again, but the desktop froze instantly after I clicked anything and this continued. Now I can only just reach the login screen and it will freeze there.I have been into safe mode and tried various scans. I have ran CCleaner which did not solve the problem, Norton360 fails to do any scan at all and I also used MalwareBytes to scan for malware. During the malware scan it found around 8 infections, but when it started scanning a certain area on my main drive inside the windows folder the desktop froze. The exact same thing has happened on two occasions.
Safe mode now seems to freeze after a short while, including on the login screen and it seems I am running out of options. I want to make formatting my hard drives a last resort as I have important files that I do not want to lose.I have also physically opened my desktop, cleaned for dust and reconnected both hard drives to try and solve the error but to no avail.
Buttons Won't Work In Bootup Menu
Sep 3, 2012recently I got an error message from Norton called 3048, 3. I followed it to the download for Norton Power Eraser, which told me to restart my computer. I did. It ran and found nothing. The message popped up twice more. Then it stopped. I've run full scans on both Norton Internet Security 2012 and MBAM, and they have found nothing. I have tried to bootup in safe mode twice, but whenever I get to bootup menu I can't do anything. The arrow won't, the escape key won't work, even the enter key doesn't work. They all work fine in normal mode. I'm working with Windows 7 by the way on an HP laptop.

Sata Driver Installed On Bootup?
Apr 1, 2011...every time I boot my system, Windows says it is installing the SATA driver. BIOS entries are OK, once drivers are installed, Disk Management shows everything OK too. My first question is: when I boot up my comp, and I have to pick either vista or Windows 7 (I have Windows 7 on another partition), I usually leave the room while my comp is booting, so after 30 seconds the BIOS picks Windows 7 as the default OS because its first.
I would really like to boot up my pc while doing something else, and I would love for the BIOS to pick Vista after 30 seconds instead of Windows 7 because I use Vista for games and such. Is there some way of doing that or do I have to sit around throughout the start up and manually pick Vista?
My second question seems a little picky or over the edge, but when I boot up my comp and have to pick an OS, it prints "Windows 7" while underneath it it prints out "Microsoft Windows Vista". Is there some way to add 'Microsoft' in front of Windows 7 when Im picking in the BIOS? It doesn't look as good without the Microsoft.

Aug 6, 2011I bought a new pc from aria.co.uk, it came in good nic and works fine. I booted up the pc, noticing a very strange lack of any motherboard logos or bios buttons, and proceeded to insatll windows 7. I chose the 64 bit version, I got to the part where it says it is going to restart windows in 5,4,3 etc. It restarted, only for the windows installation to start back at the very first setup screen. I looked at the partitions in custom install and it said that both partitions had installed correctly, my problem was getting to the oncluding install option. I shut down the pc, and took out the windows disc and restarted it. Again no bios options, just a black screen saying "loading operating system" and then "windows did not start correctly" , it took about 20 seconds for the screen to change and then immediately restarted itself taking another 20 seconds? It loaded the windows files and I was releived to get to the final setup screen. After finishing the installation it told me it was going to restart windows, which it did, only for it to reset itself about 3 times, again saying "loading operating system"..... I had a play around with pc, altering the resoluton and stuff, and shut it down for about 5 minutes. When I turned it on it told me "windows did not start correctly" and took me system repair, in which it found a problem and couldn't fix it. The hardware was fine, but it said "a patch stopped the system from starting". It is very hit and miss and sometimes starts normally and sometimes takes me directly into system repair. I managed to get into the bios once by pressing delete rapidly at boot up, and hardrive was selected as priority, so that couldn't be the problem involving windows.

Apr 11, 2012so ever since I got Windows 7, i have had nothing but nightmares alternating between 2 hard drives.
before back when I was running XP I had 2 HDDs that I would alternate between. both had XP installed, one of which was for backup. whenever I had a problem with my current OS, I would just swap the HDDs and run my backup while I image the other screwed up one.
now with Windows 7, i cannot do that because of the STUPID bootloader. bootloader made me have nightmares at night. pretty much what happens when I swap it says "BOOTMGR is Missing". now whats really messed up is that, I think the PC stores the bootloader info NOT ON THE HDD, but somewhere in the BIOS or mobo. because i completely disable the old HDD that I used to bootup with 3 partitions, and the one im trying to boot up has 2 partitions and it worked perfectly. but since i used norton ghost and try to boot up after restoring a backup of 7 on it, it says "BOOTMGR is missing".
both of my HDD windows got screwed up, and even my CD ROM STOPPED WORKING! i couldnt even recover it from the W7 disk. but I maanged to fool the system by swapping CDs and finally got into the recovery and repaired one of my HDDs boot loader. but the one I need it to work within 2 days is still messed up. can someone explain to me how this bootloader works and what i need to do?
I got 7, XP, and Vista on SATA, and 7 and Ubuntu on IDE. both worked fine whenever I needed to swap between them until i messed with Norton Ghost

Oct 12, 2010I have built my computer about 2 months ago now, and had nothing but issues with it, display drivers stopped responding, alot of BSOD (bccode 1a and 50), black screens, lockups and so forth, i have FINALLY read enough forums over this 2 month period to solve majority of problems accept one, Computer runs fine, but every morning on cold bootup it'll start to load POST and then go to a black screen and just stay there unless i reboot the computer and then it'll bootup fine. I will turn off the computer after that and go to work for about 8-10hours come home and turn it on all fine, untill the next day. I have tried new ram, fail safe settings in bios, updated bios to the lastest, bought a new power supply, tried reconnecting everything, unpluged storage harddrive. Only thing i could think of causing the problem is my video card drivers, because as soon as i install the drivers i get "drivers have stopped responding but have recovered" screen would lock up freeze/artifacts and then come back, until i changed my idle clocked from 157/300 to 400/900 and it sorted out that problem, but those settings dont kick in until i reach into desktop, could it be trying to load the ati drivers during post and black screening?

Jan 11, 2012I am having a bit of an odd issue with my Alienware MX11 laptop. I just restored it to a previous "checkpoint" after just having the error "Failed to save all the components for the file \System32\000052af. This file is corrupted or unreadable This error may be cause by a PC hardware problem." After restoring via Control Panel it is running generally fine. However, my issue is wanting to reset it to factory default settings. I've reset to the Factory Image before with previous Dell laptops, but for some reason the repair menu will not load past the black screen with the grey bar on the bottom with the words "Windows is loading files..." After the bar fills white (very quickly might I add) it returns to being gray and sits there.
Is there another way to return to factory image or a way to fix this?
This laptop is still fairly young (got it last month) and the warrenty is still good.
Black Screen Of Death, No Bootup Options Available?
Jun 4, 2012Having trouble with the black screen of death. Desktop is brand new, booted up just fine the first time, no issues. Restarted it to allow updates to be applied, then nothing.All I get is a black screen with a mouse cursor (that I can move, for all the good it does me)I've tried every possible key combination out there, nothing works. F8, F12, Ctrl-Alt-Del, nothing. Can't go into Safe Mode, can't access the BIOS. All I get is the Windows opening chime and a black screen where I would normally log in to access my computer. Every connection is secure, nothing loose.
