At the screen where the Windows 7 logo is, my startup freezes and then many different coloured pixels appear at the top of the screen.This happens when trying to boot into safe mode as well
View 1 RepliesCan't get into windows, black screen with blinking cursor for some reason I can't even get into windows 7, after I get pass the screen that says "asus", my laptop brand, It goes into a black screen with a blinking cursor in the left hand corner like this: Click this bar to view the full image. I'm unable to do anything at that point, it just blinks. I can't even boot into safe mode now, the only think I'm able to get into is the Bios Setup Utility menus and Asus' express gate, which is just a media/internet/gaming/skype thing that doesn't allow .exe files to run. This came factory installed so I don't have a windows 7 disc to run fixes.

> shutdown /r /f /t 1 . And upon the reboot, all I get is a black screen, no cursor, with ~4 rows of rainbow, garbled pixels at the very top of the monitor (certain pixels occasionally change colours). This occurs before the windows splash screen. I have left the computer as is, hoping it will eventually boot on its own with no luck. This was just a routine check. Some more information, I dual-boot with Ubuntu. I can mount and access the windows partition from Ubuntu, and I even ran ntfsfix in Ubuntu (which has some analogous functionality to chkdsk), but it didn't notice any problems.
I went to boot up my laptop PC and I see H20Insyde asking me for a password. I have no idea where this came from. What could have caused this? I have always booted up and the only thing I see is my normal screen from Windows 7 that ask for my password.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble installing windows on a new rig I just built. I'm not sure if its a driver error or maybe some other hardware error I'm overlooking. Here's the problem I'm encountering. I've tried to install 3 different windows. Windows 7 64bit(burned), Windows 7 32bit (burned), Windows Vista OEM. Upon the fresh install my computer goes to the "Loading files from disk" than will try to boot up to the install. When the boot up screen comes on with the horizontal bar it freezes after about 10-15 seconds, then nothing.I have 3 hard drives I've tried to install every copy on (2 SATA HDDs, and a SSD). Same symptom. My old HDD with windows still on it, I tried to boot it up and it still freezes(shouldn't boot up anyway right?). When I try to load safemode on the HDD with windows on it, I am able to. I tried installing the Vista copy through this method and it is successful until the PC reboots during the install and freezes back up bootup. This made me think it was a driver error.
I also mistakenly tried installing windows with no HDD's attached to the motherboard.. That also made it to the bootup screen, but froze(duh) at the bootup screen too. So from that mistaken test, could this be a hardware issue if its freezing at the same spot with and without the HDD? [code]I've also tried removing the video card and using the onboard video, leaving only one stick of ram in, and I've swapped ram from another PC to test(can't remember the model ram). I haven't tried swapping the dvd drive yet. I've read places that a heatsink could be causing this problem, but if I can get into safe mode on an old windows install could it be hardware such as the heatsink/cpu, or just drivers?
I wasnt quite sure where to post this but when i start my machine and the "starting windows" screen comes up there is no Windows 7 icon on the screen or anything. I just get a black screen with "starting windows" written at the bottom. Ideas? I'm not dual booting by the way.

I have built my computer about 2 months ago now, and had nothing but issues with it, display drivers stopped responding, alot of BSOD (bccode 1a and 50), black screens, lockups and so forth, i have FINALLY read enough forums over this 2 month period to solve majority of problems accept one, Computer runs fine, but every morning on cold bootup it'll start to load POST and then go to a black screen and just stay there unless i reboot the computer and then it'll bootup fine. I will turn off the computer after that and go to work for about 8-10hours come home and turn it on all fine, untill the next day. I have tried new ram, fail safe settings in bios, updated bios to the lastest, bought a new power supply, tried reconnecting everything, unpluged storage harddrive. Only thing i could think of causing the problem is my video card drivers, because as soon as i install the drivers i get "drivers have stopped responding but have recovered" screen would lock up freeze/artifacts and then come back, until i changed my idle clocked from 157/300 to 400/900 and it sorted out that problem, but those settings dont kick in until i reach into desktop, could it be trying to load the ati drivers during post and black screening?

The mouse does not move.I inserted my Windows 7 disc and went into repair. I tried a restore and a repair. Nothing happened. I should note that also my mouse pointer was not functioning at this time, either. That is, the pointer was in the center and the mouse was not moving.I hear the fan going on, eventually it stops making noise, not to be confused with the computer shutting off. This morning, when I boot up my machine, it went to the login screen. After logging in, the screen is stuck on the "Welcome" and the spinning wheel. I restarted and booted into safe mode with success, and attempted to restore to the point before the updates. Same problem occurred, and when I rebooted into safe mode, it said that System Recovery was not able to find the previous restore point. I then tried the restore point before that, and the same problem occurred. Also, my hard disks appear to be functioning fine.

Doing a Normal startup, or booting from the Windows 7 cd it will get so far as the Starting Windows screen, the Microsoft copy-write shows up briefly greyed out some, and just sits there. In Safe Mode, it loads everything seemingly, lastly avgidsha.sys, then sits on Please wait...I have narrowed it down to hot the HDD or memory. I've put another HDD with Windows 7 on it, getting the same results. The MemTest 86+ cd actually loads and runs, came up 100% with no errors. Other suggestions that I have found use bootable CDs that want to start Windows first.The Windows 7 CD, Windows Defender Offline, Windows Recovery disk all get stuck at the same place as the HDD, the Starting Windows screen

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rebooted my PC after installing the latest version of iTunes, and upon reboot I couldn't get past the motherboard splash screen. I tried removing each stick of RAM individually, I tried removing the battery, but finally it was clearing the CMOS which helped me at least get past the mobo splash screen (after pulling out all of the USB devices plugged in otherwise it would also freeze), but now it gets stuck on the Windows 7 loading screen.
I tried entering the Windows 7 repair function, but it freezes on a black screen (I waited about 20 minutes).
I tried booting into safe mode, but it gets stuck while loading this file: AVGIDSEH.sys
Now since I can't even boot into windows to try to do any kind of diagnosis, I figured I would create a USB drive portable version of Windows 7.
My question is, if I manage to boot into my portable Windows, what kind of tests should I run?
Finally one last question, typically when Windows 7 gets stuck at loading is it hardware related or would a complete re-install fix the issue? At this point I just need to get it back and running I don't care about losing my settings and programs.
I have a Levona G570 laptop. Windows is getting stuck on the welcome screen and also when I try booting in safe mode all I get is the safe mode in all 4 corners with a black screen, i can see the cursor also.
I tried doing a startup repair and the first couple times I tried would just keep going for over 5-6 hours, finally it did it again and gave me this error message along with it saying something along the lines of "Windows cannot automattically fix this"

Computer was working fine yesterday, shut it down then this happened out of nowhere? Laptop did not come with any Install Disc at all.
Yesterday I woke up to my computer sitting at the starting windows loading screen. I have no idea why it turned off but now every time i try to start it, It sits at the loading screen. I already tried system restore and start up repair. Did it a bunch of different times and the restore worked yet still had the same problem repair did not work. I can get into safe mode, so i tried to do the msconfig way. I did selective start up and disabled all the non Microsoft services. Restarted and It still sat on loading screen. I then opened the desktop up and tried cleaning it making sure all hardware was properly seated. Still no success.

I have used a non-genuine Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit before this (i know that's illegal that's why i got a genuine) and the movies were displaying awesomly.I own a Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra 10 and still no quality enhancements, i have all the newest drivers for all my hardwares. View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is stuck in the system repair screen and just stays there. Here's the background. His laptop was dog slow when he came home from college. The only way to boot it was in safe mode. I suspected a virus and ran multiple AV checks recommended on the Windows 7 support forum. No virus was found. Checkdisk and sfc/ scannow from cmd also failed to complete. Based on additional Forum info, I then tried to repair using the restore disks I made when I bought the Dell laptop. It worked fine until starting the repair and then hung at 1%. Eventually I turned off the power. Next I tried doing a custom Win 7 installation from a new disk (a fresh copy of Windows 7). It still tries to repair from the fresh Windows DVD and hangs on the system repair screen. I have powered off and tried to get back to safe mode unsuccessfully. How do I get out of this loop? BTW, it has not blue-screened at all.
