I have searched for 3 days trying to find a Broad Band Monitor to let me know when it drops and for how long, also how many times while I am at work, or just not on the PC.

But it found nothing also.So after much deliberation I reinstalled Win7 over the top. Still happens. Finally I have done a complete new install....and you wouldn't believe it still happens.I even deleted the old windows files and still the same.My Laptop is a Satellite P200, Core 2 Duo with 3 GB RAM.I am running 64 Bit Win 7 and have all latest updates from Microsoft.

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy monitor exhibited signs of flickering during start-up, but only minor ones and would just stop at the 'Welcome' screen of windows so I didn't give it much thought. Iv'e been using it with the cpu the same time I bought the monitor. But after some time, the flickering got worse. It went from 1-2 second interval flickers to a whole 10 seconds of blackness before it showed anything. Now,Iv'e got a new cpu but still using the old monitor. After a day or so, the monitor exhibited the first symptoms of my first cpu, so I just dismissed it. But after a week, It got a hell worse, before I even start-up my computer, the monitor doesn't show Analog/Digital at the top-left corner of the screen. PLUS my cpu keeps restarting after I pushed the ON button after 10 seconds or so. Is the monitor responsible for the restart and what could be the reason for the flickering?

OK... before half of you suggest Perfomance Monitor in Administrative Tools, I'm looking for something easier to use and preferably something that can measure both wired and 802.11x speeds and throughputs.
I am running 64bit Windows 7 on a DX58SO motherboard with the latest bios and board drivers downloaded from intel.- Windows 7 has all of the updates installed. After I installed SP1 I noticed that I had a yellow exclamation mark by the network adapters icon in the device manager applet with the error displayed as:
WAN Miniport (Netwprk Monitor) #2 This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
The drivers as identified in the properties sheet (ndistapi.sys and ndiswan.sys) are in fact located in their proper location in Windows/System32/Drivers/
I tried to uninstall the Wan Miniport to see if a restart would load the drivers but Windows would not allow it to be uninstalled. My network is working OK so what exactly does the Network Monitor do?
I have been looking for network usage monitor freeware that is compatible with Windows 7 with no luck. I need it urgently to report my own monthly usage to my landlord so that my flatmates cannot lie about their usage in working out porportions of the broadband bills. View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently switched ISPs to CenturyLink. While faster and cheaper then CableOne, it doesn't have a cap. CableOne offers 50mb for a few dollars more but has a 50g cap. This may effect me big time as I'm a big fan of Netflix streaming via Roku. Thing is, I can't monitor what's going thru Roku so I have no idea how much over a cap I would go. I use NetWorx for my local computer and it works well. It says it can't see the router because the router does not support SNMP.Anyone know of a program that would allow me to monitor all traffic on my network? Currently, I have my computer, my iPad, my wife's Kindle, her computer and the Roku.

I have another computer which is having the same problem its a acer something 1 gig of ram 250 hdd and a readeon graphics card...cant remember the exact name. With this computer i was attempting to add more ram to the extra ram slots and the computer booted up and worked but i only had 2.50 gigs of ram rather than 5? So i turned it off and repositioned theram.which now i wished i hadnt, i now get no signal from either of the computers.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just finished a new machine, EVGA VIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ card. The card has two DVI outlets - 1 S Video outlet. I'm using a Sony Bravia 32" XBR for a monitor.
Using a DVI to HDMI adapter gives me a not so good picture.
Using a DVI to VGA adapter and connecting to the TV in the "PC IN" area, give me a better picture, but still nothing all that great.
Using my Dell laptop, with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G video and an HDMI outlet gives me a great picture when I go HDMI to HDMI.
I know I am not happy with what I have, I don't know what to do next.
My 1st thought, based on the laptop experience, is to get a video card with an HDMI outlet.
My 2nd thought is to try the S Video connection, which I would if I had a cable.
My 3rd thought was to come here and ask advice from people who probably can come up with more than 3 thoughts at a time.
I've searched the internet far and wide as well as these forums and have not been able to find the answer. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law's dog killed my 2nd monitor so I haven't been able to test on my own since installing the RC version last week. (new monitor will arrive next week)
My question:
If you RDP in Windows 7 from a computer with dual monitors to an XP computer with dual monitors is the multimon support available?
I want the session to feel as though I'm at work with dual monitors.... not just spanning the 2 monitors. My work computer runs windows xp.
Currently the only way to get this functionality in xp is to use the span command and to use add-in 3rd part software that does not work that great.
My monitor starts OK but in a few minutes the screen is either covered by a fine mesh multi colored grid or 4 verticle bars approx. 1-1/2" wide made up of fine multi colored lines similar to those seen when I defrag but running top to bottom of the screen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy ASUS P8Z68-Vpro Windows 7(64) system will go to sleep manually (from the shutdown menu). I have power management set to turn off the monitor and go to sleep after one minute. After a minute the monitor turns off, but the computer fan keeps on going. (What used to happen is the computer would go to sleep, the fan would turn off, but then a second or two later the computer would wake up by itself. It's possible this has changed because I'm playing with various settings). In any event, I have never gotten it to go to sleep on its own and stay there.
Even when I tell it to go to sleep manually on rare occasions it has also woken up unprovoked. On the local area connection (Intel 82579) I've turned off all wake up things (Wake on lan, wake on link, etc.) I've allowed windows to sleep even when sharing multimedia. I've turned off wake on USB. The keyboard and mouse are now the only devices in the device manager that claim to have the ability to wake the computer up. I suspect the problem may be the D-Link DWA-556 wireless card (PCI slot), although it doesn't report that it has the ability to wake up the computer.
But a few times when I have gotten the computer to go to sleep I was able to wake it up merely by screwing the antenna into the connector on the back. Even though the wireless connection had been disabled from the network and sharing control panel. Does this indicate that my wireless card is defective, or is there some setting on it that I don't know about. Are there any other reasons the computer may not go to sleep or immediately wake up? (I have looked in the event viewer and haven't seen anything suspicious.) Does windows have a log somewhere that could tell me what is waking the computer up (or keeping it from sleeping.)
So after about a year of pretty faithful service my computer has stopped sending anything to a monitor. I've tried 3 different monitors, 2 cords, even tried taking the video card out and plugging it directly into the mother board port. Still wont send anything to a monitor. The computer turns on, the lights on the keyboard flash, the Mp3 plugged in via USB charges, though the lights on my wireless receiver to not turn on either. The beep your computer does when it boots up correctly is noticebly absent as well.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've recently ran into this problem on my computer. My monitor will not sleep while the computer is locked. If I just let it sit, the screen saver will appear, then the monitor will sleep. However, once the computer is locked, the monitor will not sleep. The monitor auto sleeping was working perfectly fine last week.I have triple checked the Power Options, ensuring the monitor sleeps in 10 minutes (screen saver activates at 5 minutes). I've also looked at the Advanced Power Options setting, and that is set at 10 minutes as well. I have reset to defaults and the problem still persists. I have also tried to set a GPO to see if that would work, nothing either.how the monitor will sleep when the computer isn't locked.I know I could just sleep my computer (I don't want to) or turn my monitor off (this gets annoying after a while).
Edit: What I've done/tried:
Triple checked monitor settings/power options
Reset to defaults, then set the monitor to sleep at 10 minutes
Changed to a new theme
Enabled monitor sleep GPO
Restarted multiple times
Disabled screen saver
My monitor has no sleep settings (settings, not function; it has the sleep function)
1. Computer, at start up, sometimes can't find my monitor. Only way is to start the computer with the monitor switched off; then turn the monitor on at a certain time during the booting process (when I here a motherboard-beep). Occasionally the connection will be broken anyway (and I'll have to mess with the 'reset/-start button). I generally get to the motherboard page and BIOS settings. But sometimes not even that and then the only solution is to leave everything off for a while (minimum a couple of minuts – but not exactly sure).
2. Computer lose monitor when it to goes into sleep mode. This only happens if I leave it inactive for a long enough time. I can usually retrieve it if the display's gone out only for a short while, as usual - by pressing keyboard or moving mouse.
My hope is to find a solution that doesn't involve buying a new monitor.
Sometimes when I turn on my computer although computer starts but the monitor doesn't show anything. I unplug the power cable from back of computer and then replug it and after that monitor starts responding (it starts showing desktop), how can this problem be fixed.
