i have managed my partitions but i did not made any back ups and when my i explore my new partition, i have three same folders which look like a directory but they are all folders, the files are already absent but the disk's space is occupied by my recent files what will i do?
View 2 Repliesmy external HDD file system before was FAT32, now i made it to NTFS using the "convert X: /fs:NTFS" command...after that, i think my HDD's "used space" went up, what could be possible problems..i used the convert command because my files in external HDD was worth more than 200gb+, so it would take long time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seems that scheduled tasks are only visible by their author or by administrators. We would like to create a task that is visible and usable by any user on the computer. In Windows XP, there was an NTFS tab on a task's properties window, but it's missing in Windows 7. It might be a matter of setting the permissions correctly on the folder that contains the actual task files, but contrary to what I assumed, this folder doesn't seem to be C:WindowsTasks. I don't see the task I imported in this folder, and setting correct permissions on it still doesn't make my task visible to simple users.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have searched google for ours trying to find a fix for this but to no avail.CD drive and virtual drives dont appear in my computer and whenever i put in a dvd nothing comes up.it appears in device manager and disc management however so i know there is nothing physically wrong with the optical drive. Under disc manager i can see the details about the dvd such as dvd name, size etc.i tried changing drive letter and path but unfortunately that doesnt fix it. the letter "applies" for a second then disappears again.

So, I tries to cancel it. It wouldn't cancel. So, I disconnected the USB HDD by pulling the USB chord.From that day, it is not working.When I connect it will show it as a local-disk, but not show any details like size or name of the drive. It takes forever to open right-click menu and properties. Disk Manager takes for ever to show the list of drives. If I double-click on the drive, my whole system becomes slow and windows explorer hangs.If I restart my system in Safe mode, it will show the drive in Disk Manager as RAW and it gives me an option to format.Is there a way to recover the data and the HDD.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe reason: I write a lot of code with use of such symbols as (){}",#$%$^$&<> and i have to use shift all the time.
The problem: After a while my hands feel some discomfort especially my tiny finger which i use to press shift.
So i was thinking if i can remap shift to space it could be a lot better. I know there is a lot of software that can do simple remap but then i have to press shift when i need to put a space. Doesn't make any sense.
What i am looking: I way to make work space button like this: If i just press down then immediately release space button it acts as usual space (ie. reacts on key up event)but if i hold it and press another keys it acts as a shift button.
I recently got a new iMac so am trying to copy/move some files around. However ANY file i copy onto the hard disk (which is in NTFS format) are not visible in Win7. The folder into which i copied into is visible but shows size as 0 bytes, whereas there is around 1.7TB of data in that folder. ALl older folders which were created/modified in Win7 earlier are visible. If i attach the disk to the Mac, the the files are there.. Am using Paragon NTFS if that matters...
View 14 Replies View RelatedI had Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed.I caught a virus, could not get rid of it, kept getting forcefully logged off, and couldn't manage anything from safe mode, or do a sys. restore either.Quickly got irritated, and formatted C: drive and reinstalled.After installation I navigated to the D: partition, however, the explorer simply says that this folder is empty. under properties, the D: drive is still 37GB full and 231 GB empty, I do not have any other partitions.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of desktops and laptops connected on a wired network. I have no problems accessing and copying files. This isn't about access denied or other machines not being visible. My issue is that one of my laptops can be accessed and I can move through all shared folders but sometimes when I try to copy a file from this machine the copy dialog opens but no data is being copied. The transfer rate stays at 0kb/s. Rebooting this machine helps partially, but file transfers will start at well below 1Mb/s and very slowly rise some during the copy. I don't have this issue with any other machine. In fact, I have never seen an issue like this. Most people have problems with read/write permissions, again, that's not my problem. Data just won't move when copying sometimes. All machines are running Windows 7 ultimate and avast 5. The laptop with this issue is a Toshiba e205, core i5, 4gigs ram, atheros ar8152 ethernet. Should also mention that I don't have a problem with other traffic on this connection such as internet or like I said accessing shared files in explorer. They just won't copy.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 25 files and folders on my desktop but only 15 are visible when viewing the desktop directly. All of them are visible when viewing the desktop in Windows Explorer. I have two monitors configured as one and keep all desktop items on one of them. I've tried selecting everything with CTL-A while on the desktop and moving them around as a group, to see if the missing ones might have somehow scrolled off the screen, but that doesn't reveal them.

I lost the ability to see those files from my SONY Bravia. View 6 Replies View Relatedrecently i made a few videos with fraps that took up around 110 gigs of space, so i decided to compress all that and upload to Internet, the amount of space the videos are taking up are now down to 70, but my free disk space hasn't increased, in fact it's decreasing as if i never deleted the videos, it isn't decreasing on it's own only if i make files, so basically it'll take up space and it just stays that way for some reason.i've looked around the internet for a solution, i have tried:disabling automatic backup, that didn't do anything. scanned my computer with malwarebytes to make sure it isn't some worm, nothing found. used disk cleanup, cleared up 900 mb but the free space still didn't change. used ccleaner, cleared up 500 mb but the free space still didn't change. used disk check, nothing bad was found. used windirstat, everything seems fine as it should be, but theres 100 gigs of <unknown>, and i have no freaking clue what it is. used spacesniffer, found absolutely nothing that would take up that much space,i would use defraggler, but it will take way too long so i'd use it when i have no other option, there's gotta be another way other than literally waiting over a day for defraggler to finish, and chances are that it wouldn't change anything as well meaning i would have wasted a bunch of time,

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have AIFF files of music on my Windows 7 64 bit PC, and I want to make audio CDs that will play in my car, etc.. The music does not show up in Windows Media Player, but I can find it in My Music and I can listen to it on the computer. I made a CD from some songs in My Music, but it won't play in my car. I thought that I might have put the CD in upside down when I recorded to it, so I tried recording it (the same CD-R)again with the CD rightside up. I got a message that listed the songs already recorded on it, so I know that they were recorded, and I know that the computer can read from the CD, but my car CD player can't read it. I tried dragging and dropping the songs to the burn section of Windows Media Player, but I got an error message that was not very communicative, but it was obvious that it wasn't going to burn the CD. So, my first question is: Can I make the CD by doing something different with the computer as it is, or do I need some other program? After reading some posts here, I looked at the Audacity website, but I'm not sure it works with Windows 7, and I'm not sure it will make an audio CD from pre-existing AIFF files. Second question: If I need another program, what will work? If I have not reached my maximum number of questions, will I be able to make an audio CD with a mix of AIFF and MP4 or MP3 files?

I had a game setup in my pen mixed with a lot of other important things for the installation. I wanted to make an autorun file that would do the following:
1- you plug the pen;
2- the program would start immediately (without autoplay).
Let's say the file is named "setup.exe". I created the following autorun.inf: [autorun] open=setup.exe It didn't work.. probably because I am using windows 7. So, how do I create this?
Imagine I use Windows XP. Also imagine I had the setup.exe file in this location: F:/others/setup.exe I wanted to create an autorun that would start the setup.exe as soon as I plugged the pen in. How would the autorun.inf be like?
