I was wondering if anyone is familiar with a method to enable sounds for when you plug in or remove a charger connected to your laptop. It is not a problem with my pc, but is an option that is not available for me which i would like to install to let me know if i accidentally unplugged the charger, particularly if I'm working on a full-screen feature. I have Windows 7 home Premium 32-bit installed.

Dual Core Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Toshiba laptop. My daughter was working on a Power Point project for school. She went to plug in her flash drive and it didnt seem to load the drive up. She unplugged it and then plugged it back in. We got a BSOD. We restarted it and it BSOD again. I tried some general troubleshooting, including restoring it to a previous version, and now cannot get into Windows at all. Not even in safe mode. Now I am getting multiple BSODs.
Currently I am seeing these BSODs:
I am getting one when just trying to start and run windows I am getting a BSOD about memory management.
If I try to go into safe mode it loads the files and then I get a BSOD regarding the fbwf.sys. Using the Windows 7 disc I have been able to get to the System Recovery Options. It finds my install and then blue screens with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL even before it gets to finding my install.
Other BSODs I know I have seen are regarding the Ntfs.Sys and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

I put my Windows 7 laptop to hibernate when it is plugged to the power source. When I unplugged the laptop from the power source, the laptop powers off. The next time I turn on the laptop, it is restarted and I see the screen with a message that says Windows was not properly shut down.

So pc is working fine I unplug ethernet cable into laptop to access internet on it,works fine, put ethernet back into computer and now there is no access to the internet. The internet still works as I checked it by plugging it back into laptopThe pc is working all software etc. but there is no internet accesswhen internet works on laptop it says public network but on pc network is unidentified and i can't change it. I tried making a new connection but it asks for username and password and I've never done anything like that. Should i type one in and that creates the password etc. or would i need to have one to create it. I don't really know what the network thing is all about I'm a newb on that part.eI tried network trouble shooter and that didn't help either.

I've had Win7 for a few months now (thanks to MSDN Academic Alliance) but I've just recently started having this problem. I'm running Win7 Professional on my HP HDX16 laptop. My laptop basically runs flawless when plugged into AC power. When I unplug it, however, CPU usage skyrockets to 95%-100%. I managed to look at the task manager one time at noticed that it isn't necessarily one process that is crippling my computer; It's more like 4 or 5 programs that run around 20 CPU and the rest of the processor is used by various other programs. The process hogging programs vary sometimes, but it usually includes audiodg (audio device graph), mcshield (Mcafee), and a few other svchost (usually Win Defender, Win Firewall and AudioEndpointBuilder). I have the IDT HD audio card for those wondering (and all of the latest drivers from HP).

Basically it just gives a BSOD every time i unplug the usb.
I have the latest beta drivers downloaded from windows update.
I have a wired control and the xplorer guitar (gh2), both works perfectly, the only trouble is when i unplug.
The BSOD indicates something like irql less or equal 0x000000a
BTW i cant upgrade the driver because it gives the BSOD when disabling it to do the upgrade.

I have downloaded the Windows 7 RC1 ISO and "burnt" it onto a 16GB OCZ Throttle eSATA / USB drive (exactly as in the SevenForums tutorial). I can boot from this drive and install Windows with no problem.
But... I believe the 200MB system partition is somehow being placed on the flash drive, because once I disconnect it and attempt to boot, I get the standard "DISK BOOT FAILURE..." message.
I've followed the suggestions on the "How to avoid 200MB hidden system partition" page (i.e., pre-create the desired partitions on the installation drive rather than installing to unallocated space), but I'm still getting the problem.
The "Windows might create additional partitions..." dialog box popped up once, on my first installation attempt - and I did foolishly click "OK" to it. It hasn't appeared since for me to click "Cancel" to, however much I try deleting and remaking partitions
Has anything changed in RC1 regarding the system partition? Is it more persistent in creating it than it was with the Beta?

I use my computer mainly for living room entertainment and I use my HDTV (LG LED 1080p) as my main computer screen. Everything used to work fine but I've recently started having problems with the sound. When I turn the computer on, the sound works perfectly. However, if I close the TV or change the input from my computer to anything else, and then go back to the computer, the sound is gone.I looked through the sound options in the Control panel and noticed that the sound problem comes from my TV speakers (identified as AMD HDMI output) being unplugged. This is obviously impossible because the speakers are in the TV so this must be a Windows problem. This output works perfectly when the sound is on.My TV is connected to my computer through a single HDMI cable for sound and image (ATI Radeon 5700 graphics card and ASUS M4A79XTD EVO motherboard on-board soundcard, both with latest drivers). I use Windows 7 premium home edition 64-bit and I have 4 GB of RAM. i found that either logging off from Windows or restarting the computer will bring the sound back on. Unfortunately, as soon as I turn off the TV or change the input, the sound goes off again.

I tried to install window 7 to new Extreme SSD couple times but I always got the same message:Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and restart your computer. I just plugged my PSP into my desktop and suddenly most of my inputs(save monitors) stopped working. I took the psp out out and restarted my machine, but it would not power back on.Heres what i've done so far:I have attached this psp to this machine before with no problems. After doing the steps above, I am clueless as to what could be going on. also, my mobo power light is green(implying that power IS being run to the machine). So any ideas? please let me know any other info you might need, such as specs and whatnot if that makes any difference. As I said, normally with power issues its only a few things and I just really dont see plugging my psp into my box shorting out my on button or anything like that.

my PC freezes when I plug in headphones and sometimes front panel USB devices. I had this problem previously on my old PC build but have upgraded my motherboard, CPU, GPU, case, and power supply since then (basically a new computer) only to have the same problem still... I have rebuilt the computer twice and checked all wires and motherboard to make sure nothing is grounding out. I have also tried different wall outlets in my house to eliminate the possibility of electrical problems from the outlet I was using. Not only am I not able to use my front panel connections, but also my comp runs very choppy after it freezes from plugging in devices and I am forced to restart my comp several times to get it working correctly again.

My computer crashes whenever I plug a USB device in it. I first noticed it when I plugged in a camera, thinking it was the camera, I then tried my own flash drive which worked fine (Possibly using fat32 format); but yesterday I tried my mates flash drive (NTFS) and that crashed it, I've also tried a bunch of other flash drives around the house and they also crash my computer.I'm running windows 7 64 bit, ASUS p8z68-v pro mobo, i5 2500k, 4GB DDR3 1600MHz ripjaw, Sapphire HD6950.I have tried running memtest which passed 13 times flawlessly. I also tried running driver verifier, which seemed to really screw me over. At the start, when the windows logo first appears, it hangs a little bit and then blue screens. Luckily I had made a system repair disk the night before. I also don't know why but when I tried to start in safe mode (pressing f8 while booting) all it gave me was the option to choose which device to boot from, which I'm guessing is some sort of feature on my mobo, but I digress. So I'm guessing it's something to do with USB drivers?

Whenever I plug in any USB device, the monitor will go blank, but the case fans and lights will continue operating. The computer remains like this until I hold down the power button to turn it off and then restart it. It will restart fine. In addition to the monitor going blank, all power is turned off from USB devices (e.g. optical mouse light turns off). This occurs probably about 25% of the time I plug a USB device in (sometimes nothing happens, as should be).It does not mater which port I use. It's happened with rear ports, a hub wired to a rear port, front case ports (plugged into motherboard USB pins), or a PCI USB hub.
I've looked extensively for solutions and can't find any. I checked my motherboard multiple times for swollen capacitors and have not found any.Today (and never before) when I plugged a mouse in, the same issue occurred, but the monitor turned back on about two seconds later, and a pop-up notified me of drivers successfully being installed. (I didn't notice whether USB power was cut) This makes me think that the computer is adjusting the display (as it does when a program requests administrative permission and the screen sometimes goes blank) but for some reason does not come back from it. There really is no indication that Windows stops. I never get a BSOD.Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit, regularly updatedDisplay Adapter: Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO (756MB)

where my notebook starts to stutter after coming out of hibernate whenever the power is plugged in. The mouse doesn't move, the audio goes out, videos stop, and sometimes I get a black screen that disappears in ten seconds. Sometimes after the black screen I get a message saying my video driver recovered. I am running a nVidia 8600M GT with up-to-date drivers. The problems usually resolve if I restart but it's really irritating that I can't get out of hibernate without this stuttering. Switching back to Vista also fixes it. I've tried reinstalling drivers and reformatting with a clean install of Windows 7 neither of which helped. I didn't have this problem with Vista although I had another power issue in Vista (which I still have with 7) where if I put my computer into hibernate with the power plugged in, the computer wouldn't start again until I unplug it and take out the battery.

This event happens maybe once every 20 plug-in attemps and only when I'm slightly up or down from a straight push in. The device doesn't matter. The port in question is one of four on the front panel of the case. The rebooting only happens with one port. Never had a problem with the other three. I haven't pulled the front of the case because it happens so infrequently.

I have a my HTPC plugged into a 5-port switch along with my Xbox 360, PS3, and U-Verse TV box. Naturally, all 5 ports are being used with line 1 going into my router. There are 3 other computers in my house plugged directly into my router. My problem is that my network ceases to work whenever I plug in the switch. I am neither able to access the internet or view any other computer on my network for file/printer sharing. Running ipconfig shows that I have no LAN/internet connection. If I unplug the switch and plug in the components individually, then everything works normally.I have tried 3 different switches but I am getting the same result. It is very inconvenient to have to manually unplug and plug in my various game consoles and TV box in order to enable them to access the internet.
