Apr 6, 2012After I tried to make a dual boot with Ubuntu and Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), Windows now does not boot. I have tried to reinstall and repair the HDD but the disc fails to recognize my HDD (Western Digital Scorpio Black 500 GB). My HDD is Basic, has 3 primary partitions and 1 extended (3 logical). Ubuntu 11.10 can boot fine.

Nov 13, 2009I have few questions on Windows 7 Upgrade. Currently I'm using windows vista home premium 64 bit and I bought an windows 7 home premium 64 bit upgrade disk.
first thing is I want to format my previous operating system and all the data in my laptop and install windows 7 in it using the Upgrade disk.
second thing is I don't have my vista installation disk with, my laptop was pre-installed with vista so in future if I want to switch can I get back VISTA using system restore.
third is can i install windows 7 on a new hard disk using a windows 7 Upgrade disk?

There is only one hard disk insideit in 300 gb but in my computer file it is two seperate hard disk.You can see that there are two hard disk one in 99.9 gb, and another is 198 gb. But the windows was installed in 99.9 gb but still i can access the files in 198 gb.

Dec 27, 2011I have had xp for a long time on a custom computer. Recently I contracted a virus (namely the xp antivirus 2012 system virus). I decided to reformat the hard drive, as I do not have the original xp discs, I bought windows 7 (the full version, not upgrade). While trying to install windows 7 and subsequently reformat the hard drive, the installation program can not detect any hard disk whatsoever.
Another problem is that the virus has corrupted my computer to the point where I cannot even load xp. All my computer is currently good for is watching it try to load.

Before I installed windows 7, some of my deleted files on my other hard disk is there. But now, I could not find it anymore. I try to browse to one of my hard disk, which has the deleted files on recycle bin before, then I found it the recycle bin icon there as well (For instance, the path of the drive is: N:$RECYCLE.BIN). I tried to look at the properties, and I found that the missing size of the deleted files was on there. The problem is I cannot access it. When I tried to open the recycle bin, it just empty. I need some help with this. How do I retrieve the files again to the OS recycle bin, not the hard disk recycle bin? Is it possible to access it again? I really need those files back.

Jan 2, 2011I've built a brand new PC and decided that I would like to install windows 7 64 bit on my SSD, I got a disk+key from my university before christmas so that'd i'd be ready once i'd built it.
I built the PC yesterday and realised that I'd left my external DVD drive at my university accommodation, I'm at my parents house for christmas break so that's a few weeks left. I can't really wait that long so I used my parents laptop (which I'm posting from now) to turn the disk into an .iso and use the microsoft USB utility to make a USB stick that i could install from.
However when I tried the install gets to 'installing features' and gives 'windows cannot install required files' error code 0x80070570 I looked the code up on google which sent me to a lot of threads here, so far I've tried:
Taking all but 1 stick of ram out and the graphics card. Reseting the bios to default Installing again without rebooting after error. using cmd to select the right partition
