View 1 RepliesI have just bought 7 Profession 64-bit and upgrade from my Vista Home Prem install. Everytime i install graphics drivers it fails on re-boot.
As far as i can see the drivers install fine (newest ones on nvidia site 195.55 and 186.whatever) then i restart, it loads the "starting windows" page, goes through that fine, but when it tries to go on it just crashes forcing me to use system restore to remove the nvidia drivers so i can run it again.
I am having trouble with my Windows 7 Home Premium edition.
After having installed it and starting it up for the first time it wont go further than the "logo" screen.
The only thing i have done is to install the Radeon 4800 series drivers..
There is no error codes or anything and i am running out of possible reasons.
My system was running perfectly with the RC candidate. The first time i even removed my second 4890 and it didn't help anything.
Please someone know what to do. Could it be a corrupted disc i have recieved from amazon?
I'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs. I keep getting an error along the following lines: Quote: ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again. Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Windows 7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.
Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install
During the installation process of Windows 7 it is possible to load drivers, e.g. the downloaded SATA, LAN and Graphics drivers for a specific motherboard (MoBo ASUS P7P55D).However, these files are compressed zip files and Unzipping delivers a set of folders with in each a number of files. Which are the device drivers?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have XP SP2 installed. I used EASEUS Partition Master to split my drive in half, one half being XP, the other half being a future install of Windows 7.
Put DVD in, selected the blank partition, began the install. Once it gets to the first reboot, it will reboot and go straight into XP. There is no option to choose Windows 7. The XP boot.ini has only one entry for XP.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking I need to add an entry for Windows 7, but have no clue what to put and I'm also guessing I'd have to add a few special tags because it's booting into the setup process of Win 7.
I created a new partition, and accidentally made it my primary partition (C: being my primary one and D: being by other one) now whenever I boot up I get NTLDR missing ctrl+alt+del to restart. So I downloaded the windows 7 repair files from one website and tried to fix it, but I failed and now I wanted to know is there any other way I can fix using command prompt or will I just have to reinstall windows 7.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI literally just built this today and was able to enjoy a very fast boot up speed with wim7 64-bit installed on my ssd drive but the power cable of course found a way to get unplugged from the wall and now the it takes an extra 20-30 seconds in order t boot up (at the "windows starting" ) screen. Right after I turned it back on the computer wanted to go into system repair and then it reset the pc to the back up that I had just set,
Is there anything I can do in order to get it too boot up like it was at first?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a simple question, I recently fresh installed Windows7 and was wondering if I should Install the new mobo drivers from the ASUS site (i have an ASUS P5Q Pro) or should I just keep the current microsoft drives for all the chipsets/lan/etc. The only Thing I installed was the Realtek sound driver. Would there be any advantages to install proper drivers? because right now my computer runs perfectly stable and smooth using the Windows7 ones.

Mobo gigabyte EP45-UD3R
CPU E6550
Ram Corsair ddr2 2GB bus 1066
VGA HD4850
HDD WD green 2tb (sparking new) + WD 500gb x 2 (1 year old)
PSU CoolerMaster 400w
The problem is: I cannot boot nor install new windows by any means, tried 4 different DVDs, none works. At first I thought the ram is at fault (heard multiple beeeps at POST screen) so I replace a new one (listed above) but it seem not to be the right solution.I have an ghost image of my laptop so I tried to restore it to my desktop, but it didn't work either.
PS: I can boot to miniXP by using Hiren's boot CD, check the disks and data inside, all seem just fine.
my computer won't even start up now. I am running Parallels 6.0 on my Macbook Pro and I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. When I downloaded the Service Pack 1 update, everything was fine until I tried to reboot and my computer won't even get to the start page. When I boot it, it says to do a system restore, so I tried that. But afterwards it says it cannot be restored. So the other option is to start windows normally, so I tried that. Then it says it has an error after installing 140,000 of 320,000. I think the error code was c000009s or something like that. So my problem is that my computer won't even boot up so I can make changes to it. [code]
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy new ssd is running great, it feels like a new car.
But I am having trouble with my backups. When I unplug the ssd and try to boot off the hdd (which worked before I installed my ssd) I get boot manager screens.
How can boot off my clones? I'm using Windows 7 and did not change the BIOS except to boot off of CD for the ssd install.
I was originally dual booting XP and Ubuntu on my main 240gb drive. I decided to give 7 a shot and in doing so wiped my ubuntu install, formatted a nice 50gb ntfs partition for 7 and installed it fine. However now when trying to boot into my "Previous Windows Installation" I'm getting a blank screen. I've tried using the XP recovery console from the disk to restore the bootmgr however chkdsk fails. I think somehow the partition table got rearranged during my install, and 7 didn't fix it for me. I have no idea what to do anymore since 7 won't allow me to change the partition value in my boot.ini file. I have a feeling that's all i need to do. I'm getting "Access is denied" on bootmgr and boot.ini in my XP home folder when accessing from Windows 7..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 installed in C , Now I want to install XP in other partition (D) in the same HD, to work on dual boot.
I ask help from you because I could not do the installation by the obvious method: installing XP by booting its installation CD and choosing the D partition for the system, my Windows 7 stopped to work, I had to repair it with Windows 7 installation CD.
I have bought an old PC just for the case. It has an 80gb drive in it, so I thought I would use that for a new Vista I had lying around.I installed a new motherboard/cpu/ram combo I had (all working well prior). When I fire it up, the old drive had versions of both XP and 2000. However, both are corrupted an none will boot. The PC goes into a reboot loop each time, regardless of what I try. I have set the bios to boot from the cd drive with the MS original copy Vista, but it refuses to do so.Any way I can force the boot from the CD drive - or force a reformat? I cannot get to a command prompt, even trying safe mode.No biggy as I will just use another drive (once returned from Seagate), but it is a bit annoying not being able to do this. Perhaps the drive itself is corrupted?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I have an interesting problem with installing Win 7 from XP. I'm doing a full install over the old XP drive.
I have an unusual hardware configuration. I have 2 HDD's, one is SATA, and the other is on a legacy IDE. The SATA drive is a WD Raptor which I use for the OS and the IDE is a slower, larger drive I use for storing data. Additionally, the IDE drive is the Slave on the IDE chain. In XP, this worked great, because the system would boot to the SATA drive and I could use both drives.
When I went to install 7, both drives appear in the list, but their letter names were reversed: the OS drive was listed as "D" and the data drive was listed as "C". I didn't think much of it until later. I installed on "D" which was the SATA drive. After install, I noticed that my IDE drive wasn't listed in file explorer.
So I opened the Disk Manager and found that both drives were listed, but only the install disk was active. However, the IDE drive was Disk 0, and the SATA drive was Disk 1 and labeled "C:". I activated the IDE drive and it became "E:" (the DVD-ROM was already "D:"). I attempted to reboot and got an error "BOOTMGR is missing". If I put in the Win 7 install DVD it will boot to the SATA drive.
I read some of the other threads here and attempted fixes using "bootrec.exe" to no avail. I finally decided to reinstall again on the SATA drive. Again, 7 listed the SATA drive as Disk 1/"C:", and the IDE drive as Disk 0/(no letter). This time, I didn't activate the IDE drive and tried to reboot. New message "No system disk...". Put in the Win 7 DVD and it boots to the SATA drive.
My current theory is that Windows 7 is getting confused about the drive ordering when creating the boot sector on the drives. I ran out of time last night, but I thought I would unplug the IDE drive and do a fresh install on the SATA drive, then plug in the IDE drive after things were booting normally.
I did check the BIOS settings, and the SATA drive is listed first in the boot order.
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
AMD 4200+ CPU
OCZ 4GB RAM
(IDE) Hitachi 320GB
(SATA) WD Raptor 120GB
nVidia 7600GT
Can someone offer some advice on how to solve this so I don't need the Win 7 DVD in all the time?
So, i've been using Windows 7 for a few months, and i decided to install XP on another HDD, which is completely empty. It all went well, except fot the dualboot thing, cause i can only boot XP. I've tried changing the boot sequence, and still only XP boots.
What can i do to make Windows 7 boot again?
I am trying to install Windows 7 Build 7000 on my computer. But it does not seem to want to continue install after the first restart.
Here is what I did:
I put in the dvd, and boot my computer from the DVD. I set the DVD to be the only boot device in the BIOS. The installer starts. I go through all the steps needed for install. It comes to the first restart, and the computer restarts. After a lot of waiting, the computer brings up the first step to the install. Where it shows the "Install Now" Button. (The install basically starts from step One again).
Not sure what I did wrong through all this. My computer Specs are AMD 6400 2.20Ghz, 2 Gigs of Ram, Clean 40 Gig IDE Hard drive, on Different IDE channel then the DVD Drive (Not sure if that is important). Linksys Wireless Add in Card, BFG Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT.
So if someone could help me get Windows 7 up and running, that would be great!
I forgot to say that I tried to install Windows 7 off a virtual drive from within XP, but that didnt seem to work after the first restart also. It did put the windows boot loader on my computer, but didnt finish the Windows 7 Install. I have a feeling that it tried to over-right my Windows XP install, because the boot loader only comes up when my XP drive is plugged in. When I tried installing 7 with the CD, I had my XP drive unplugged. So if 7 tried to install on my XP drive, how can I get the files off it, that I dont want on it anymore, and install Windows 7 on my other drive, in a XP and 7 Duel-boot.
If I wipe my hardrive can I use the same Windows 7 disc to instal it? Also will i need a new product key? If not how can i wipe my hardrive without my Windows booting up?
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy computer boots fine when I have the Windows 7 install DVD in the drive, and it doesn't use the disc at all as far as I can tell - it says "Boot from CD:" then "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD.....". I do not press any key, then Windows boots just fine. If I do not have the DVD in the drive at startup, however, it gives me "Boot from CD:" then "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER". If I do that, it boots fine like before. I tried advice from google results such as running the Startup Repair tool on the DVD 3 times (they said to do it 3 times...). It did not detect any problems, and didn't do anything. I also updated my BIOS, and the problem persists.
I think I have all the boot order stuff correct, but here are pictures just in case: [URL]
Also, here is a screenshot of my drives (ignore that uninitialized one, new drive that I haven't formatted yet): [URL]
On the above image, disk 3 (C is the SSD which I have Windows 7 installed on. Does this problem have something to do with Disk 1, is that System Reserved part supposed to be there? All the disks except 3 do not have any OS installed on them.

Given this, I removed the HDD, put it in my computer, and installed windows 7 from there. I've been having a problem when installing any ATI Catalyst drivers the past two days. Normally, I remove the old drivers via the Programs & Features in the Control Panel, but this time I decided to try just a straight install of 10.6 on top of the older 10.4 drivers. That's when it all started. When I went to select the features to be installed in the new 10.6 drivers, there was the normal options, minus the Catalyst Control Center. So I tried installing anyway, and I got the display driver installed along with everything but CCC.
So I thought maybe it was just a fluke and restarted in Safe Mode. I used Driver Sweeper 2.1 to delete everything ATI in the system, restarted, and tried redownloading/reinstalling from amd.com again, but to no avail. I successfully removed the drivers the same way the second time, and this time just shut the computer down for the night thinking I would try again in the morning (yesterday morning). The weirdest thing was that there was no error messages at all during any of the install attempts. It simply acted like nothing was ever wrong.
