Cannot Install Or Boot To Windows 7

Aug 30, 2011

My system as followed:

Mobo gigabyte EP45-UD3R
CPU E6550
Ram Corsair ddr2 2GB bus 1066
VGA HD4850
HDD WD green 2tb (sparking new) + WD 500gb x 2 (1 year old)
PSU CoolerMaster 400w

The problem is: I cannot boot nor install new windows by any means, tried 4 different DVDs, none works. At first I thought the ram is at fault (heard multiple beeeps at POST screen) so I replace a new one (listed above) but it seem not to be the right solution.I have an ghost image of my laptop so I tried to restore it to my desktop, but it didn't work either.

PS: I can boot to miniXP by using Hiren's boot CD, check the disks and data inside, all seem just fine.

Windows Won't Boot After Sp1 Install

Sep 22, 2011

my computer won't even start up now. I am running Parallels 6.0 on my Macbook Pro and I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. When I downloaded the Service Pack 1 update, everything was fine until I tried to reboot and my computer won't even get to the start page. When I boot it, it says to do a system restore, so I tried that. But afterwards it says it cannot be restored. So the other option is to start windows normally, so I tried that. Then it says it has an error after installing 140,000 of 320,000. I think the error code was c000009s or something like that. So my problem is that my computer won't even boot up so I can make changes to it. [code]

Windows 7 Will Not Boot Without The Install DVD

Oct 6, 2011

My computer boots fine when I have the Windows 7 install DVD in the drive, and it doesn't use the disc at all as far as I can tell - it says "Boot from CD:" then "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD.....". I do not press any key, then Windows boots just fine. If I do not have the DVD in the drive at startup, however, it gives me "Boot from CD:" then "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER". If I do that, it boots fine like before. I tried advice from google results such as running the Startup Repair tool on the DVD 3 times (they said to do it 3 times...). It did not detect any problems, and didn't do anything. I also updated my BIOS, and the problem persists.

I think I have all the boot order stuff correct, but here are pictures just in case: [URL]

Also, here is a screenshot of my drives (ignore that uninitialized one, new drive that I haven't formatted yet): [URL]

On the above image, disk 3 (C is the SSD which I have Windows 7 installed on. Does this problem have something to do with Disk 1, is that System Reserved part supposed to be there? All the disks except 3 do not have any OS installed on them.

Lastly, here is my setup:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
EVGA 131-GT-E767-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 SLI 3
Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601960

Multiple Windows 7 Install Boot

Feb 17, 2011

I am in the process of a Windows 7 reinstall but still want to keep data. So what I did was just reformat the hard drive into 2 partitions so I can transfer data over. Both of them have Windows 7 installed on them. The issue seems to be booting into which one, a small quirk I can't get around. If I boot the computer without the Win7 install disk it will use the old bootloader and boots into the old Windows 7, it won't let me select what I want to boot into (just old Win7). If I leave the Win7 install disk in it goes through and says "Press any key to boot from DVD or CD", then I don't press anything and let it time out. Then after it times out it will load from the hard drive, which causes it to load the new bootloader and obviously the new Windows 7 install. change the default bootloader to be the other partition?

Windows 7 Dual Boot Install - Does Not Wan To Take 2nd OS

Dec 26, 2010

After installing Win 7 ULT 32 and 64 several times

- I am able to install either 32 or 64 version as a first OS, but when trying to install it as a second OS on the SEPARATE PARTITION OF THE SAME SATA3 HD, it fails once the install starts at app 30 min to complete the install. Tried it several times and it always fails.

- XP Pro fails to install as either first or second OS (can not install it at all). It gives me blue screen.

When working with one OS only (either Win 7 32 or 64 ULT) all drivers install with no issues and system is stable so I assume my issues are not hardware related.

Here is hardware config:
- AMD 6 core 1920T
- SATA3 WD 1TB hard drive - Western Digitac Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200
- Sapphire HD 5770 Varor X video card
- 2x4GB of Kingston RAM
-Asus M4A89GTD Pro USB3 motherboard
-CoolMaster UAF920 case with 750W power supply (750GTX)

Windows 7 SP1 Install Causes Boot Failure

Feb 28, 2011

I've just tried twice to install Win7 Service Pack 1 on a relative's Acer desktop PC - which runs ZoneAlarm anti-virus, but has very little else apart from Word installed. Each time, the download and install process seemed to go OK; however, when the system rebooted, it displayed the Windows startup logo, but at the point where the logo goes away and you expect to see the mouse appear, it just froze with a blank grey screen. I left it for a while, but nothing happened. Eventually, I power-cycled the PC and an error message was displayed and a Windows boot selection was offered: Repair (recommended) or Start Normally.

Choosing 'Start Normally' repeated the boot and freeze sequence. Choosing 'Repair' started the startup repair procedure, which failed with 'The operating System is incompatible with Startup Repair'. Trying the 'Advanced Restore' procedure reported 'No restore points', although I had explicitly created one before the update, and the update itself creates one. I managed to fix it by running 'Startup Repair from the original Windows 7 installation DVD. The PC works fine now, but Service Pack 1 isn't installed. I have had to turn off automatic updates so that it won't get installed. Failing that, is there a way to disable the 'Service Pack 1' entry in 'Windows Updates' so that automatic updates can be enabled?

She asked me to install it for her and I have done so, installed all drivers and doing one last restart before adding software, and now the machine will not boot up. It wont even get to the Windows boot up stage, simply restarts straight after the Samsung screen when turning the laptop on. I'm running a chkdsk now by booting up with the install disc. Is there anything I can do which won't need me to reinstall Windows?

Getting Xp To Install In Dual Boot With Windows 7?

Nov 18, 2012

I'm really having fits trying to dual boot a friends computer with xp home SP3 after windows 7 pro 64 bit. I slipstreamed all the drivers for his board (asus P8Z77 V LK) into the disc and xp disc gets to the point of choosing the partition to install on. The partition created using windows 7 does not show up. Just shows C disk (corsair nuetron ssd) as one partition having the entire space. None of the commands to create or delete the partition work. Booting back into 7 and going to disk manager shows the disk to be correct : 100 MB system reserved, then the partition for windows 7 as "C", then the 20GB partition XP as "D". I have read that windows XP needs the partition to be "active" in order to install but don't know if this is true. At this time the "D" partition is not active, the "C" partition is. Tried to do this with all other drives (two 1TB western digital HDD) disconnected but that didn't work either.

My CD/Rom Won't Boot Windows 7 Pro Install Disc

Jul 6, 2012

I just got a new battery for my computer, because the old one died. When the old one died, it messed up the files on the hard drive. I used a windows xp pro installation disc to wipe the hard drive (or delete the partition), then set it as slave with another hard drive as master. Both hard drives are were wiped clean, nothing on them, and now the computer is actually running pretty fast. So, I tried to run the Windows 7 installation cd to install Windows 7 (Nyaha! Redundency!) to the new primary drive. Here's the problem. It won't boot the disc. I went to the BIOS and set it to boot the CD/ROM first, second, and last. It still won't boot the Windows 7 CD. Now, I have 3 CDs for Windows 7, my family has three different computers. I tried the 64 bit one, and the two 32 bit one's, but it will. Not. Work. It just does not boot any of them. It says "Boot Failure from Previous Device.

Clean Install Windows 7 X64 Ultimate Won't Boot

Apr 1, 2011

I built 2 PCs with the following spec:

CPU: Core i5 2500
MB: Asrock H61M/U3S3 (revised esata issue fixed)
RAM: 4GB GSkill Ripjaw X (2 x 2GB)
PSU: 450W Thermaltake PSU
HDD: 1TB Seagate 7200 HDD
ODD: Samsung DVD Drive

On both PCs after a successful clean Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, starts windows for the first time etc etc ask me to select windows update setting, goes into windows desktop then does a auto restart (proper logging off restart etc). At this point, after bios screen when it attempts to boot from hdd the PC just resets inself and goes back to POST, over and over again. I've tried using only one stick of ram, tried using VGA to do a clean install again instead of DVI, tried changing my RAM to a lower clock speed, every other bios setting is default. I also tried updating to the latest bios and again did a clean install (delete and create partition) even tried installing x86 instead of x64.

Windows 7 Will Not Boot, Computer Did Not Come With A Install Disk?

Mar 26, 2011

My mom's computer started having issues booting a day ago, it seemed like something was draining all of her cpu's power. I verified that was not the case, and ran the computer in safe-mode. I downloaded Ccleaner and cleaned her registry with it (Yes, I verified that the registry values it removed/modified were safe, most of the having to do with programs I know were removed from the computer.) After a re-booting it appears the BCD has gone corruptit would be an easy fix, but her computer, (Bought at the store in a IVY Tech college.) did not come with a windows install disk, so repairing the BCD has proven difficult. Is there any other way I can do it? (I did ensure she made some recovery disk's when she bought it, but as far as I call tell, all they can do is fully restore windows.)

Attempting Boot/install Windows 7 From External Hd

Jul 15, 2012

I am having difficulty getting my computer to install Windows 7 from an external hd. take a look through the steps I followed below, I believe I may have missed something very basic (I'm not a power user).

1.I put an iso image of windows 7, 32bit onto my computer

2.downloaded/installed 'easeUSpartition master'; used it to shink the partition w/with data on external hd, created a new partition of the free space remaining on the hd; set new partition as 'active'.

3.used magic iso to extract files from the iso image of windows 7 32 bit installer onto the active partition that was created from the free space on the external hd.

4.reset computer, on startup went into bios, set USB flash drive to #1 position of boot order, set setting to 'enable boot from external drive', saved and exited.

5.on subsequent restarts, the computer restarts as it normally does, I do not see any messages during startup (e.g. 'push any key to boot from external drive').
