Install Windows 7 With No DVD, Network, Or USB?

Jan 6, 2011

My friend gave me a computer that had vista on it, but asked me to downgrade it to XP. I did, but I could not find audio and video drivers at all.. The computer is "everex impact gc3500"

So I want to put Windows 7 on it. But, it doesn't have a dvd drive. I have the win 7 disk, iso, and the exe that I downloaded when I bought 7 with a student discount. Will I be able to do it with just the .exe, or will I need to mount the iso?

Install Windows 7 Via Network?

I want to learn how to install Windows 7 from network but I don't want to use a cd, put it and take the the image from another computer. What I really want is to wake the computer on lan, and install the image that I want automatically, or by controlling remotely. I read some articles about it, there are ways to do it easily in Linux. And I think that "Windows Deployment Services" has this feature, but I couldn't find any satisfying tutorial.

Windows 7 Fresh Install - No Internet / Network Connection?

Jul 8, 2011

Ok, I'm going to give a small amount of back story here as it may be relevant to the current problem. Yesterday I formatted my Win XP PC and tried to install Windows 7 on it. 3/4 of the way through the installation my PC would restart, and upon loading back into windows I would receive this error message:The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click to restart the computer, and then restart the installatioThere were a number of possible fixes to this problem detailed hereI eventually got the installation to complete properly by removing my Sound Card and my Network Card.Ok, now onto the current problem. As stated, I have a new, clean install of Windows 7 32 which seems unable to connect to our BT Home Hub router. I have an ethernet connection to the router (lights: check, and cables are secure etc) and also a Wireless Network Card which may or may not be in a functioning state. By which I mean, I have had problems with it in the past but I can't remember exactly what is wrong with it. However, as I did with my XP install I want to connect via the ethernet cable.

In the Network and Sharing Center there are no networks listed.I have attempted to update the drivers for my MB and the Network Card, neither of which seemed to do anything. If I try to ping google or anywhere else it fails. This could end up being a very simple issue, but I'm completely new to Windows 7 (and skipped Vista) so I don't really no where to go from here, and am kind of burned out after spending 8 hours yesterday just installing windows. My PC specs:Custom BuiltOS: Windows 732bitMOBO: ASUS M2N4-SLICPU: AMD Dual Core 3 GHzGfx Card: GeForce GTS 250Network Card: Realtek 8185

Windows 7 Fresh Install - File Getting Corrupted During Network Transfer

Mar 24, 2011

My company computer (hooked up to our internal network; no homegroup) has just had a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I went through the process of mapping network drives and had a problem when it came to connecting to IP addresses and folders in the format of '\servershared folder'. Turned out that I had to change a security setting.

Following the instructions on this site, I was able to resolve that issue. These network locations are CNC machines and the files that I am placing on the machines contain CNC code (G&M code and X, Y, Z values for 3D machining). Basically, G&M code cannot have multiple X, Y or Z values on the same line (it wouldn't make sense to go to two X locations in the same move).

When I transfer CNC files from a network location (all of our files are stored on a server) to the CNC machine, they occasionally get corrupted where part of one file is contained in another file. I have tried transferring one at a time and in bulk, both with the same result.

Unable To Detect Specific Wireless Network Following Windows 7 Install?

Oct 15, 2012

I have just installed Windows 7 onto my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. My laptop now detects a number of wireless networks in the vicinity but not my own. It is not a problem with my router because other laptops can pick up the connection no problem. I have Googled this problem and see a lot on issues with Windows 7 and picking up wireless signals. But I haven't seen any threads which deal specifically with the situation where only one wireless network cannot be detected.

Cannot Install Or Boot To Windows 7

Aug 30, 2011

My system as followed:

Mobo gigabyte EP45-UD3R
CPU E6550
Ram Corsair ddr2 2GB bus 1066
VGA HD4850
HDD WD green 2tb (sparking new) + WD 500gb x 2 (1 year old)
PSU CoolerMaster 400w

The problem is: I cannot boot nor install new windows by any means, tried 4 different DVDs, none works. At first I thought the ram is at fault (heard multiple beeeps at POST screen) so I replace a new one (listed above) but it seem not to be the right solution.I have an ghost image of my laptop so I tried to restore it to my desktop, but it didn't work either.

PS: I can boot to miniXP by using Hiren's boot CD, check the disks and data inside, all seem just fine.

Windows Won't Boot After Sp1 Install

Sep 22, 2011

my computer won't even start up now. I am running Parallels 6.0 on my Macbook Pro and I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. When I downloaded the Service Pack 1 update, everything was fine until I tried to reboot and my computer won't even get to the start page. When I boot it, it says to do a system restore, so I tried that. But afterwards it says it cannot be restored. So the other option is to start windows normally, so I tried that. Then it says it has an error after installing 140,000 of 320,000. I think the error code was c000009s or something like that. So my problem is that my computer won't even boot up so I can make changes to it. [code]

Windows 7 Will Not Boot Without The Install DVD

Oct 6, 2011

My computer boots fine when I have the Windows 7 install DVD in the drive, and it doesn't use the disc at all as far as I can tell - it says "Boot from CD:" then "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD.....". I do not press any key, then Windows boots just fine. If I do not have the DVD in the drive at startup, however, it gives me "Boot from CD:" then "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER". If I do that, it boots fine like before. I tried advice from google results such as running the Startup Repair tool on the DVD 3 times (they said to do it 3 times...). It did not detect any problems, and didn't do anything. I also updated my BIOS, and the problem persists.

I think I have all the boot order stuff correct, but here are pictures just in case: [URL]

Also, here is a screenshot of my drives (ignore that uninitialized one, new drive that I haven't formatted yet): [URL]

On the above image, disk 3 (C is the SSD which I have Windows 7 installed on. Does this problem have something to do with Disk 1, is that System Reserved part supposed to be there? All the disks except 3 do not have any OS installed on them.

Lastly, here is my setup:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
EVGA 131-GT-E767-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 SLI 3
Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601960

Multiple Windows 7 Install Boot

Feb 17, 2011

I am in the process of a Windows 7 reinstall but still want to keep data. So what I did was just reformat the hard drive into 2 partitions so I can transfer data over. Both of them have Windows 7 installed on them. The issue seems to be booting into which one, a small quirk I can't get around. If I boot the computer without the Win7 install disk it will use the old bootloader and boots into the old Windows 7, it won't let me select what I want to boot into (just old Win7). If I leave the Win7 install disk in it goes through and says "Press any key to boot from DVD or CD", then I don't press anything and let it time out. Then after it times out it will load from the hard drive, which causes it to load the new bootloader and obviously the new Windows 7 install. change the default bootloader to be the other partition?

Windows 7 Dual Boot Install - Does Not Wan To Take 2nd OS

Dec 26, 2010

After installing Win 7 ULT 32 and 64 several times

- I am able to install either 32 or 64 version as a first OS, but when trying to install it as a second OS on the SEPARATE PARTITION OF THE SAME SATA3 HD, it fails once the install starts at app 30 min to complete the install. Tried it several times and it always fails.

- XP Pro fails to install as either first or second OS (can not install it at all). It gives me blue screen.

When working with one OS only (either Win 7 32 or 64 ULT) all drivers install with no issues and system is stable so I assume my issues are not hardware related.

Here is hardware config:
- AMD 6 core 1920T
- SATA3 WD 1TB hard drive - Western Digitac Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200
- Sapphire HD 5770 Varor X video card
- 2x4GB of Kingston RAM
-Asus M4A89GTD Pro USB3 motherboard
-CoolMaster UAF920 case with 750W power supply (750GTX)

Windows 7 SP1 Install Causes Boot Failure

Feb 28, 2011

I've just tried twice to install Win7 Service Pack 1 on a relative's Acer desktop PC - which runs ZoneAlarm anti-virus, but has very little else apart from Word installed. Each time, the download and install process seemed to go OK; however, when the system rebooted, it displayed the Windows startup logo, but at the point where the logo goes away and you expect to see the mouse appear, it just froze with a blank grey screen. I left it for a while, but nothing happened. Eventually, I power-cycled the PC and an error message was displayed and a Windows boot selection was offered: Repair (recommended) or Start Normally.

Choosing 'Start Normally' repeated the boot and freeze sequence. Choosing 'Repair' started the startup repair procedure, which failed with 'The operating System is incompatible with Startup Repair'. Trying the 'Advanced Restore' procedure reported 'No restore points', although I had explicitly created one before the update, and the update itself creates one. I managed to fix it by running 'Startup Repair from the original Windows 7 installation DVD. The PC works fine now, but Service Pack 1 isn't installed. I have had to turn off automatic updates so that it won't get installed. Failing that, is there a way to disable the 'Service Pack 1' entry in 'Windows Updates' so that automatic updates can be enabled?
