Can't Establish Office Network With Windows 7?
Aug 3, 2011I'm trying to network 2 computers together in our office. The computers are HP's P6000.When I go to computer A I can see the folders on computer B.And it's the same when I go to B I can see A but I can't access any files. I keep getting the I don't have permission prompt to access the computer (that's on both computers). I changed the settings and passwords, followed the directions from the Microsoft website, tried to Google the answer, but I still get the same prompt.

Dec 27, 2012Running home premium on HP desktop.I installed an SSD and installed W7 on it. Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to remove the old HDD first, and the W7 install kept the boot sector on the old HDD. Now of course when I remove the old HDD the system won't boot. I tried doing a repair with the W7 install disc. It does say it's repairing, but after many restarts there is still no boot sector on the SSD.So now I re-installed the old drive, but I eventually want to remove it. One additional thing that might help the diagnosis: On bootup I am presented with two W7 boot options. If I select the second W7 it comes back with "Windows failed to start" and then goes on to instruct me to reboot with the W7 disk and select "repair". But as I stated, I already tried that and it didn't work.I spent many hours setting up my W7 environment on the new drive, and I'd really like to fix this problem without doing a fresh re-install of W7.

Jul 22, 2012I recently got a new laptop, running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I've been having connectivity issues with the internet, and it doesn't seem to be related to the router, as the same issue happens on different wireless networks. The majority of the time when I wake up my computer from sleep, it won't be automatically connecting to my home network, even though it's set to. When I try and connect, it does the whole "windows is taking an unusually long time to connect" deal. To solve it I usually go through troubleshoot. It doesn't find any problems (other than Hamachi IP issue, but this problem persisted before I downloaded Hamachi, and it doesn't seem to affect anything). Once troubleshoot finishes, it's usually about a minute or two later when it magically connects. Sometimes the internet disconnects right in the middle of me doing something, and to solve this I usually turn the switch on the front to turn off all wireless, wait a few seconds and turn it back on, and this usually solves the problem, for the time being.

On VAIO I installed Windows 7. On SCALEO I installed both Windows XP and Windows 7 as dual boot configuration. The Windows 7 version I am using is the free downloadable evaluation installation of Windows 7 Enterprise. Both installations are activated.When I run Windows XP on SCALEO (and Windows 7 on VAIO), I can establish RDC between both computers, both ways, without any problems.When I run Windows 7 on SCALEO (hence, on both machines), establishing RDC fails on either machine with the following message:"Your credentials did not work. I have a home network with 2 laptops and 1 desktop. The desktop I use as a "file server" in that all work done on the laptops is stored to the desktop. The desktop computer name is HAL. One laptop is fine and sees the network. The other just stopped seeing it; rebooted the laptop; rebooted HAL; did a number of refreshes without any luck. I opened EXCEL and found a worksheet that was listed that I knew was saved on HAL. Was able to open the file and when I tried the SAVE AS I could navigate through all of HAL just as normal. Went to Windows Explorer and still no HAL listed as a COMPUTER on the NETWORK. I have a internet connection so I know I am making it to the router at least. And when I check NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER it shows an active home network. The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 Build 7601.

But after we created the individual users like john@domainname.local to all users. this is i believe the cause of problem. When we acess the server via the software it freezed for 5 seconds and then repeat to normal state. And after some time it hangs for 2 minutes.

File Sharing Across A Home Network - The Network Path Was Not Found"
Aug 9, 2011I'm having difficulty trying to get my new Windows 7 pc set up to share files across my existing home (wired) network which consists of 1 desktop pc running WinXP and 1 laptop running WinXP.I want the 'C' drive on each of the 3 computers to be shared. I've had the 2 Windows XP computers set up and working like this for several years without a problem but I can't seem to get the 'C' drive on the Windows 7 computer to do the same.All 3 computers have the same workgroup name and none of them require passwords to log on to Windows. There are no problems with the firewalls on any of the machines.On the Windows 7 PC when I right click on the 'C' drive and select the 'Sharing' tab, I have set this up to be shared and when I click on the 'Advanced Sharing' button there is a tick in the 'Share this folder' box, the 'Share name' is 'C'. If I then click on the 'Permissions' button, this shows a 'Group or user name' 'Everyone' and this group has Full Control, Change and Read boxes ticked. As far as I can see there is nothing more I can do.
However from my Windows XP computer, when I go to My Network Places and double click on the icon for the Windows 7 'C' drive, I get the message "\Computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.The network path was not found"I've subsequently set up a sub folder (of the Windows 7 'C' drive) for sharing by right clicking on the folder, choosing 'Share with' and then selecting 'Specific people'. I then set up a group called 'Everyone' with read/write permissions. Now I can navigate to this folder from my 2 WinXP computers.

Network Constantly Changing Between Unidentified Public Network And Home
Aug 30, 2012Home network with Wifi and ethernet. Using 3x Notebooks and 3x workstations. One of the workstations (W7 ultimate) keeps changing between Public and Home. When this happens, the internet connection dies. I cannot see other workstations either when on public network. Workstation using wifi. Does the same on cable. When it changes to Public, it disconnects from the internet and I cannot get to the router even though it has the workstation has an IP(DHCP or static). Default gateway and subnet is correct. TCP v4 is being used and nothing else is enabled.
Why is this happening?
- I have tried DHCP as well as Static addresses
- Reconfigured NIC(Netgear WG311T), uninstalled and reinstalled it.
- Removed Wifi connection and re-added it.
- Changed auth type, encryption type and keys to connection
Have I covered everything? The only thing different is that I installed a new router - Duo Plus 300wr. It cannot be the router because all the other notebooks connect to it wireless and so does my iPad, Android device and tablet...so it rules that out?
Disabled Network Adapter, Restarted And Now Not Showing Up In Network And Sharing?
Feb 11, 2012I disabled my network adapter then restarted and now the adapter is no longer showing up in my network connections. How in the world do I get it back? I have looked at other options (like under the registry which was suggested on a couple of places). I have never seen this happen before. I even reinstalled my drivers and still nothing. Dec 1, 2011Today, I managed to redecorate my bedroom; where my computer sat on top of a shaky, wooden desk. That desk is now gone, caput, and replaced by a much bigger, sturdier and prettier glass replacement.Before I dissasembled the computer to re-decorate, I was able to browse the internet at ease. There were no problems at all...However, after the new desk was setup - and all wires replaced in their correct slots, I find that I am unable to connect to the internet, or even the house's network! For the past year, I have been wired to the router using a RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It was plugged into an extension cord, in my room, into the Ethernet port in the back of my computer. Downstairs, it's twin was situated no less than 2 feet away from the router - plugged into the first port.Now, when I boot up the computer, the network notification presents the following message: "Unidentified Network. No network access", and sometimes presents a yellow ! next to it. So, I am reduced to typing on my mother's laptop - which has no problems connecting to the network.I am able to use the ipconfig /release command, but unable to use the /renew - it hangs in the command prompt, then tells me that the DHCP server cannot be located. The IP, beforehand, was reverted to 169.254.223.117 - before all of this, I was 192.168.0.5?

Aug 23, 2009I have a linksys usb600n (v2) using the Windows 7 driver from linksys. It installs and is displayed correctly in Device Manger - BUT it doesn't appear in the Network and Sharing Center as an adapter. This same device and driver were previously working just fine in this system - but I rebuilt the OS (clean install) after testing a number of security products out.
The initial install went fine - no problems that I remember - just plug in the adapter and install the drivers obtained from Linksys (Ver 3.00.01.0). I tried the same thing on the re-build and it looks fine until I go into the Network Center and can't set up wireless networking since the adapter does not appear.
SIW shows TWO (2) linksys USB adapters under Hardware/Network Adapters, but does not show the network adapters in the Network Information section.
Any ideas?
Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter - Update Lost The Network
Nov 1, 2009Installed Windows 7 on two home-network computers. Everything appeared to be good, including networking, but I could not access printers (linked through each computer) with the opposite computer. Windows update offered an update for the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter, but when I installed the update I completely lost the network.
I had to revert to the old driver in order to reastablish the network. But the printers still are not recognized. The network adapter on the secondary computer is a Linksys WMP300N. I did try turning the router off for ten seconds with the updated driver but that had no effect.
Anyone had this problem?
