View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a users laptop that is failing to install SP1 with the above error code (80070002). WU is installing other updates so it appears to be a problem with SP1 rather than WU. Installing while logged in gives me the error code but if you hit shutdown then it just sits on the Configuring screen and the user has had to hard power off the laptop after a few hours.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen there is a Restart required after a software upgrade, the BIOS on my system (Win 7/64) will go to an external HDD (I have three for storage and backup). If I force it off and go into the BIOS on startup, it will show any of the other three HDD's in the boot priority. I reset the priority to the correct drive, save and start (repeat this process several times) and finally it will start from the correct HDD. I thought it might be the CMOS battery but with a new battery in place I still ran into this. This system (HP desktop) is less than a year old.

So I installed Linux, hoping to fix the booting problem. I successfully got Linux on the partition which originally failed, but now I get this boot screen option,Is there some way to correct my computers boot to either have the original boot where I can select either partition to boot from with EasyBCD or just deactivate Linux as long as the computer boots directly to my Windows 7 and I don't get the original error.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just got a new HP laptop with Windows 7 and have got it set up the way I want it, apart from the above problem - I either have icons with arrows and the big blue letter e or the blue and green globe icons. If, for instance, I add a shortcut to Facebook, I would expect to see the Facebook icon(white f on blue backgeound), but I don't, I get one of the above. I have tried right clicking and going to properties and then change icon but the icons I need are not there.

I have 3 hitachi drives that came out of a IBM storage array, they are being re-purposed for another project. Only problem is when I hook them up to my windows 7 machine via sata connectors they are only displaying 372gb of usable space, these drives are 750gb. In disk management the drives only display the 372gb volume. How can I reset the partition size on these drives?

View 4 Replies View RelatedA while ago, I had a triple boot system, but now, I'm using one of the hard drives for something else, so now it is only dual-boot. However, for some reason, I cannot get Windows 7 to see the new boot file.I constructed the original boot system with EasyBCD. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. When I started up the software to make the dual-boot system, it said it couldn't find my boot files. So, I constructed the dual-boot system, and I wrote it on the drive. However, when I start up the computer, I still see the old triple boot menu. I tried clearing it with the Windows 7 restore disk, but it doesn't see Windows 7 on the hard drive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 64 bit gives me "not responding" every few minutes. It is not a hardware problem because this VelociRaptor had on XP Pro for years and the Vertex is still running XP.seriously suspect it is a memory problem because early in the morning it will go for about 30 minutes before the first crash and then it gets progressively worse until every 20 or 30 seconds it gives "not responding" which always corrects itself (after the screen goes pale) and then you hear a lot of hard drive activity. There are no processes using excessive CPU or memory when this happens. This is a downloaded version and I built the ISO and upgraded XP. I have tried another upgrade DVD but that crashes during install.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn vista i used to go into safe mode , add remove nvidia drivers and reboot into normal mode it would install the standard vga drivers. However with windows 7 when you reboot into normal mode it installs these wddm(?) drivers and reboots.
Have the old nvidia drivers been uninstalled? and can i just install any previous beta's or new betas over the top?
EDIT : Just installed over the top of the default windows 7 nvidia drivers on uninstalled reboot, seems to work fine so i'll see how it goes!.
Wasn't sure how to classify what's happening but I recently installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. It ran alright for a few days but over the last 2 days, I've been getting a flickering type problem. Now whatever is causing this is also affecting my ability to click or tab items or right click an item. Ex: If I have task manager open and want to close it; I right click it in the task bar to click close but the minute I move to click close the menu disappears.
