I just bought a used Acer Aspire One 10.1 netbook and I am having some issues. When I got it the pc needed 17 windows updates done. So I did that but I am not sure all the updates worked properly as the machine shut down but never rebooted after finishing updates. After I turned it back on I tried to connect to the internet through my wireless router (which is working fine for other devices), nothing. So I tried a wired connection, nothing again. The wireless is finding my router it is just not hooking up to the internet. I tried ipconfig/all in the cmd prompt and all it shows is that the media is disconnected??? Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? The compute seems to be functioning fine except for the internet
So What i am saying is whenever i boot up my computer there is a black with white text screen that says something about an unconfigured hard drive that is in my computer. But then again whenever i am on my desktop doing whatever i can use it perfectly fine. Also it does not show up in the bios. it just has my boot up drive and my optical drive.
I have a HP Touchsmart IQ500. Turning my computer PC on today, all I got was a blue HP invent screen with setup, boot menu, system recovery, and system diagnosis, and I could not get past it. I entered the BIOS and figured out that the hard drive was listed as "not installed." Pretty sure that is the main problem.I tried a system restore (with the Windows 7 install disc), but I guess the computer couldn't read the hard drive enough to enter safe mode (I tried restarting and F8ing several times). I put in an external hard drive, and the BIOS read it; however, windows does not allow you to partition an OS on a hard drive.
*My SD card is not recognized by my computer*We were out for 2 weeks water-skiing with my new SonyAction cam (basically a GoPro by sony). I used the SD card from the camera at the end of a day to view the files on my laptop but didn't copy them over as the card still had 14GB of free space. (16GB Card)The next day I put the card into my laptop again and one of the files was corrupted , so I copied over all the files and formatted the SD card for re use the following day(Have done before card worked fine). Now we are back and I cannot access any files on it, both on my laptop or PC!! These videos mean a lot to me, so If anyone has any idea how to get this working or a place I can take it to recover data? When I put my SD card reader into my PC without the SD card in it, (Its a USB with an SD card slot on it) the safely remove hardware appears in the system tray and plays the sound that It recognizes a connected device. The SD card is not recognized at all when I connect it to the USB reader.
- This card was working in the camera.
- I believe the card broke somehow when I plugged it into my laptop, but I didn't want to think those thoughts just yet
*I have a new windows 7 (professional 64) machine.
*I removed my two hard drives from my old computer (windows xp).
*I installed them in my new computer as drive F and G
*I want to be able to use my programs and access all my data on my old drives, in my new computer
*I want to be able to access my old outlook data, including email from my old drives
*I see a bunch of folders in my F and G drives, but can't seem to use any of the program files and I don't even see "my documents" from my old computer or any outlook files...maybe I am lookign in wrong place.

Okay, I turn on my computer, and after four seconds it shuts off, then 4 seconds later, it shuts off, etc. Then after this process repeats itself for about 4 times, it will take a long time (~5-10 minutes) to show the computer manufacturer logo. Then after that, another ~2 minutes to show the Windows logo, then ~5 minutes to show the user account selection screen. I tried taking out the RAM, leaving one stick in, and then booting it up. It worked, so I am currently in the process of replacing the RAM (I now have 1GB instead of 2). But after a while, it got worse. I have no idea what to do know, and I really need this computer for work.
My computer is running realllllly slow, and I'm not sure why. There's a lot of extra space on the computer, and Hardly anything running in the back ground. I just put a new hard drive in the computer, as it has done this previously, It slowed to a point where it would freeze and no longer work, until one day I turned it on, went to log in and it automatically restarted, so I discovered that the hard drive had crashed, I put a new one in it and it was fine, until about 2 weeks ago, when it started slowing down majorly.
i've recently built a mid-range system & game wise it's great, but i've been having the same issue.
intel core i7 920 2.66ghz 6gb patriot g series 1600mhz ram 9-9-9-24 320gb 7200rpm seagate barracuda sata hdd his radeon hd6850 iceq x turbo corsair h50 hydro series
the issue i'm having is that sometimes, during a Internet video, an online streamed video, photo-editing or even browsing pictures in my pictures, everything suddenly freezes, i can't move the mouse, keyboard, the screen remains frozen on whatever it was on at that time, and even after waiting it doesn't come back to life and i have to reboot.. on the rare occasion it comes back to life, it does so with a 'beep' i've tried re-formatting completely, to no avail. i've ran a disk check, an sfc in dos, several memtests, defragging and i've purchased a new psu, updated my bios, chipset, and all other drivers but i just can't get it to stop.. i am at a complete loss. all of these tests provided positive results, no errors. i've monitored my temps and my gpu idle at 34 with a high end of 62 when fully gaming, and my cpu idles at 37 and never goes past 60 when fully gaming, does anyone have any idea at all? the only ones i have remaining are that the hard drive is on the way out, but it doesn't make sense because the disk check reports zero errors.
I'm trying to get my Computer to sleep but it won't because of the Western Digital 1TB external hard drive that is connected to my network. The backup program is causing this problem, if I turn it off then it will sleep. I would like to keep it turned on because it will save any changes that are made to my folders and files. I would use the back program that comes with Windows 7, but that doesn't work. I get "Access is denied" Error code: 0x80070005. I think the problem may be from being connected to a network.
I'm fully formatting a second hard drive in my computer and it's a 3tb drive so it's going to take a while. I was wondering if I could watch videos I have on my other drive or if that would cause the process to run less efficiently or even skip sectors it was supposed to check.
I'm using Windows 7 on my laptop and I have a Seagate 500Gb Portable HD.I don't when this problem started and how ? Yesterday when i plugged in my Hard Disk on my friends Computer running Windows 7 ,the Harddisk din't opened. On clicking the Folder it said You don't have the permission to open the folder. But when i plugged in my HD back on my laptop it worked perfectly. But the problem remains same whenever i plug in the drive in another PC/Laptop.
I just bought a new computer, i7 860 and have put 7 x64 on it.
my motherboard is ausus p7p55d and has one ide socket on the board.
I was using this socket for my cd and dvd drives but I have detached them so I can plug in my old IDE hard drive.
I was using the IDE drive just 2 days ago in my old system.
Sometimes when I boot up the drive is seen and sometimes not.
when the drive is seen I try and copy some files over to my new sata drive I have in the new system. some of the files copy over but the the IDE drive always gets stuck. when I try to cancel the copy windows stops responding partially and I cant get out of the copy window and the old IDE hard drive explorer window.
So I restart windows and normally it now doesn't see the IDE drive.
So i build a newcomputer yesterday. I decided to use my old SATA hard drive from my computer, it has my OS, and other files on it. I get everything put in, but when i start the computer it says "no hard disk is detected".
I enter the bios menu, and i notice it recognizes that it is in there, as well as my disk drive.
How come it wont let me load my hard drive, and it doesnt detect it when i start it up.. but BIOS sees that its there?
My computer isn't picking up my other two hard drives. They appear when i turn on my computer and only sometimes with that. They don't appear to let me assign a letter or path to them either. They are both 250 gb drives and both are standard in computer but neither are accessible. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Command line functions to check if i have drives isn't working either.
I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit . I added 2 hard drives from my old computer to the new one. The old computer was Windows XP 32 bit with a Raid 1 configuration. I just want the added hard drives as storage and non raid. The installation went smoothly but the new computer recognizes the 2 added hard drives as one drive. Also when I boot up, the boot screen from the old computer shows briefly with the intel raid 1 info.
have two hard disks in my PC one is IDE(120GB) and the other is IDE(60GB). My PC is not detecting my IDE(120GB) hard disk. I have been replaced my jumper cable but it still not recognizing
i recently built my computer and it has four hard drives, a new SSD, and three HDDs all taken out from my old computers. when i open my start menu and type something in only the results from the SSD will come up, how do i fix this, also all my old HDDs still have their operating system on the i never bothered working out how get rid of them.
I have a laptop that is about a year old. Recently, my system rebooted and I was no longer able to view my Programs, files on the Hard drive or any other document. Here is the twist. I am still able to log into windows, use the Internet Explorere. If I happen to know the location of the file I can pull it up. It seems like i have no viewable rights to my C: drive at all. but can still work on files and programs.
I currently have Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition installed on my machine. (listed in my sig)
I am considering getting an x58/Core i7 920
Will i be able to just swap my hard drive from one motherboard to another or do you thing a fresh install is at hand?
In the past i have been able to swap hard drives from one gigabyte motherboard to another (both LGA 775) but i'm not sure if i will be able to do this from LGA 775 to LGA 1366.
I recently completed my first build within the last two weeks. After tinkering with everything for a while I decided to pull my HDD out of my old Dell and use that as a backup.
I then got to thinking about how it might be useful to install Windows on each hard drive and use whichever one I want for whatever I want to do with the computer. IE: One HDD will be only for games and the other HDD will be for everything else I want to do. I've done a few searches and found conflicting results. To add to this problem I returned my Gygabyte MOBO for a different model. I know I will have to reformat my current HDD that Windows is installed on. So here is the twist.
When I get the new MOBO hooked up I want to use my old Dell HDD as my primary HDD because it is bigger. Since Microsoft thinks Windows is installed on the other HDD and different MOBO what will happen with I install it on a new HDD and new MOBO? It would be essentially the same as installing it on a different computer which is obviously not something Microsoft wants happening. How is this done?
Now, given that I get that to work can I then disconnect my primary HDD and plug in my second HDD, boot from disc and install all over again. I have no problem going back and forth disconnecting and connecting which HDD I want to use when i boot up if I cannot have them both hooked up to the MOBO, but I assume I can and will just choose which to boot from in BIOS. I do not plan on moving data between the two drives as I will use an external HDD for any data backup that I might need.
