Get A Screen That Lasts For 20 Seconds Titled Windows 7 Boot Manager?

Aug 29, 2012

I've had a change in my boot up. After I get the BIOS screen, I get a 1 or 2 second screen that says that it cannot detect the C: drive. Then I get a screen that lasts for 20 seconds titled Windows Boot Manager. The Windows 7 item is highlited and if I press enter or wait the 20 seconds, Windows loads. All my apps work with no problem. It's more of a mild concern that it is of a problem.

Windows 7 Boot Manager Screen At Start Up - Never Starts Installation

Jan 12, 2012

I have tried at least 5 times installing the OS by using Recovery DVD's that I order from HP. I am able to boot from the DVD's and go through the process of Inserting Disc 1, Disc 2, and Disc 3. Once the setup is complete, I am prompted to Click Continue so that the system can restart the computer and continue the windows 7 Installation. It never even starts the installation. It gives me the following screen:

Windows Boot Manager. Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: Insert Your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next." Click "Repair your computer." If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
ENTER = Continue
ESC = Exit

If I press Enter I am greeted by another Windows Boot Manager screen.... that says "Choose an operating system to start, or press TAB to select a tool".

Troubleshooting I have done:
- I have tried to install the OS in different ways. i.e. with a formatted HDD, re-installing over error msg, swapped hard drives.
- I also inserted the "Windows 7 Repair disk" (I made the disk from my other windows 7 machine that is also 64-bit)

From there I boot it up, and it detects start up problems and tells me to click restart to fix issues. I restart and cross my fingers to only end up disappointed by the screen above. I have also checked and I do have boot from notebook HDD as my primary boot up device.

Get Rid Of The Boot Manager Screen?

Jan 27, 2011

I did a dual install on my desktop (Windows 7 home and Win XP clean installs on separate (sata)HDs with the other HD disconnected during install of each OS). Technically it's a triple since I have Linux Mint Debian on a third, thumbHD (same disconnect procedure there). I expected that to run smoothly. Well, it did the first few times, I could bring up the boot options (Esc on this one) and choose what drive to boot from. And a little while later this darned meddlesome win 7 boot manager shows up at startup and asks me what OS I want to boot from. I have to hit Esc real quick and bring up the boot sequence to chose what HD to boot from instead.

Because if I play along and choose an OS from the list any boot option but the Windows 7 fails. Any way I can get this meddlesome thing off my back? (It's like the good old annoying Office Assistant.)

(If I truly wanted this option, I'd probably install EasyBCD. I used that when I dual/triplebooted a couple of old laptops a few years back, and it was fairly nice. But right now I just don't need it.) I looked into BCDedit, which I am not terribly familiar with, but I couldn't quite find an option to shut down the BMS. (And I know better then to start deleting entries in there without proper backup. Barely, but still.)

No Dual Boot Manager / Option Screen After Win7 Install

Jun 9, 2009

I've installed 64bit win 7 on a 2nd partion of my main drive running vista 64bit. The installation all went smoothly and loaded into win 7.

But when restarted I did't get a windows boot manager screen so i could pick if I wish to load Vista or Windows 7, instead my system just loads straight into Vista.

Do I have to enable my system to be able to see the Windows 7 install?

Windows 7 Loading 15 Seconds At Login Screen

Apr 2, 2012

My Windows 7 - 64 bit takes about 12-15 seconds loading in the login screen before it loads the desktop. I only have three startup programs running, Avast 7, Realtek Audio, and Catalyst. I don't have a password and only have one account (admin). I know that 12-15 seconds is not so much of an issue but I think that the normal waiting time is only less than 5 seconds and I think 12-15 seconds is not right because I am running Windows 7 on a Core i7 950 3Ghz and 7200rpm Hard disk. I already defragged my hard disk using Auslogic Disk Defrag and scanned my computer for virus.

Windows 7 Freezes For A Few Seconds Every Few Seconds?

Nov 2, 2012

windows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.

* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors

i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.

PC Freezes Within Seconds After Boot When Not In Safe Mode?

I got a BSOD yesterday which was most likely from overheating and now 30-60 seconds after I boot it normally, it freezes yet my mouse still moves. Ten second later, all the screen shows is my background. I've tried system restore, then I went it BIOS and ran a test on the system memory which passed, scanned for malware and spyware, used both CCleaner and IObit Advance SystemCare to clean up registry and junk files, and then defragmented the hard drive expecting that might do something and it still freezes.Edit: I've been looking at the start ups and don't see anything that suspicious.[CODE]

Keyboard And Mouse Unusable For 30 Seconds After Boot?

Mar 27, 2012

So my keyboard and mouse are completely usable in the bios and during boot, but once the windows login screen opens up, there is a 30+ second delay before the keyboard and mouse become active. This doesn't appear to be a freeze or lag of any type, just like the keyboard and mouse hasn't been recognized yet. I have a printer and several external drives connected to my computer's USB ports, so I tried unplugging everything but the keyboard and mouse. The time goes down to about 5 seconds, however, the last few times I've tried, there was about a 10 second wait for the mouse to work after the keyboard worked. With only the mouse and keyboard plugged in, I feel this must be either 1) an issue with drivers loading or 2) a specific issue with my USB drivers. Here's what I've done so far to try and troubleshoot. Not sure what to do next.Used google (couldn't find anything that looked related enough to try)Unplugged everything but keyboard and mouse from USB ports - Decreased lag time to 5-15 secondsenabled boot logging, checked file for drivers not loading (attached)Checked bios for legacy USB enabled (it was)Double checked AV software (only MS Security Essentials and Malwarebytes installed, malwarebytes does not run any processes unless I start it up)Having multiple USB devices plugged in upon boot should not delay the usability of my keyboard and mouse.

How To Use Windows 7 Boot Manager ?

Mar 7, 2009

I have a system running XP. I partitioned my drive in half and installed Windows 7. I tried to start XP again and messed it up. I think it's trying to use XPs boot manager. Do I need to re-install 7 to use it's boot manager?

Now that I know this .iso works great, I want to put 7 on a partition on my main Vista system. I can't afford to lose everything like I did on the XP system. When I tried to start XP after installing 7 I got an error. "windows root system32 hal.dll is missing or corrupt"

I can't have that happening to my main system. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? Will it happen to Vista?
